Tai Chi Arts
Known User(s): Song Clan , Kang-Sung
Tai Chi is a martial arts style first introduced in the series by Kang-Sung. Tai Chi Arts are the best amongst the Song Clan
They are referred to as Legendary Arts. These arts focus on stopping the flow and controlling the direction of power/force. Thus, the practitioner can nullify any attack and direct its force towards any direction including sending it back to the attacker
The function of these arts against attacks is explained as the water against a knife. Just as no sword can cut water in the same way no attack can penetrate the defenses of Tai Chi.This implies that even someone of a lower level can overpower a stronger opponent.
The Tai Chi Arts require a foothold for the practitioner to use them. If that foothold is lost then the practitioner is unable to use the Tai Chi Arts. Thus, users of Tai Chi would be unable to fight to the full extent in midair. Their ability to nullify attacks is weakened and the practitioner takes part of the damage as well. Depending on the difference in strength between the practitioners is also the damage the practitioner is unable it redirect

Walking Techniques (Hwan Hwan Shin Bo)
Known User(s): All known murim-in
Internal Ki techniques focused on movement. There are several schools with different kinds of walking techniques.
Walking Techniques are an imperative part of martial arts which includes movements for attacking, defending and offsetting the opponent.
This is due to the importance of Walking Techniques in martial arts. They are the base of any attack and movement because the possibility of a successful attack mostly depends on the effective use of the Walking Techniques. No matter how strong a fist is, if it cannot connect with the opponent then it becomes useless. That is why foot techniques can be seen as some of the most fundamental techniques.
They are Inner power techniques utilized by matching up the circulating Ki to the ankle and synchronizing the flow of Ki with the physical movement of stepping, to initiate a foot technique.
Basic Walking Techniques
According to Chun-Woo Han there are five basic walking techniques:
Jin (To Advance)
Draws the user closer to his opponent. The move is so fast that it appears the practitioner moved toward the opponent instantaneously within the blink of an eye.
Spoiler: Jin being used
Spoiler: Approaching opponent
Tweh (To Retreat)
Allows the user to retreat or create distance between user and opponent. This move is also instantaneously within the blink of eye.
Hweh (To Evade)
Allows the user to avoid the opponents attack and gaze. This move allows the practitioner to instantaneously disappear from sight.
Gyuk (To Attack)
Attacks the opponent. One cannot just simply use 'Gyuk' however they want. Its a skill that allows the practitioner to read an enemy's foot technique and change its movement to neutralize the opponent. The user reads the opponent's movement and by giving a slight change to that movement he can neutralize it.
Spoiler: Shioon's Gyuk Usage
Spoiler: Shioon's Gyuk Result
It is a secret technique that affects the enemy's mind and willpower. This technique creates the effect of the practitioner being in multiple places at once to distract the opponent.
These five techniques seem to be more like a basis for all non-specialized walking techniques. The ammount of Ki and skill they are used with changes them so much they can seem to be completley different techniques. This can be seen by comparing the usage of Gyuk by Chun-Woo and Jang-Il Jeong to Shi-Woon as well as Chun-Woo's Hwan to Shi-Woon's.
Non-Ki Walking Techniques
Shi-Woon displayed the use of walking techniques without Ki circulation
Used against Fattie in order to escape when he was locked.
Used it against Chang-ho to avoid his attack. When used without Ki the user does not "disappear" but instead rotates fast to evade. This move results in a sprained ankle due to the lack of Ki in the execution.
Pseudo Walking techniques
As the name implies these are false walking techniques that imitate the ones used by Goomoonryong. They are impressive to non-murim-in but noticeably weaker than the true technique. This is shown when Shi-Woon is easily able to overwhelm Chang-Ho who is know for his pseudo walking techniques. The pseudo walking techniques, used by S.U.C. members, include three basic techniques as shown so far:
Looks the same as the Jin and its use is the same but the techniques is different.
Looks the same as the Tweh and its use is the same but the techniques is different.
Pseudo Hweh (Ghost Step)
Looks the same as the Hweh and its use is the same but the techniques is different.
Black Heaven & Earth School
These walking techniques create a wind like air pressure upon execution. They belong to the martial arts school that Un-Wol represented and were taught to Ryuji. It is unknown whether the air pressure is a practiced part of the technique or simply a result of the great speed and power.
Spoiler: Unnamed Walking Tech
This includes techniques that are not categorized or are assumed to belong to the Walking Techniques category:
White Rock Dojo
It is a climbing technique which enhances the ability of a user to step on walls. It is considered a movement technique so it is assumed that it belongs to the category of Walking Techniques.

Incarnate Illusion State
Known User(s):Yewon-Gwan School , Shioon
Is a method of training based on meditation. The user enters a state of meditation where he trains using his/Her Ki to create an image of him/herself and using the memory of enemies to create them and fight with them in that state of meditation.
This technique was said to have been developed so that women in bondage could practice martial arts as the user can practice techniques and develop reflexes without doing anything but concentrating.
The basis of this technique is meditation and as such it looks like just that from the outside. It seems to require a large amount of Ki but if the user has insufficient Ki distribution skills they could use some from another person.
It has been said that it takes around ten years to reach the meditative state where the individual will be able to use it to train. Despite this Shi-Woon Yi managed to reach the final stage of meditation training in just a few days. Sera Kang has implied that it took her ten years to master the Outer Body Training Method and she still has not mastered it to it's full extent.
Before beginning to use this technique the user takes a posture of meditation or Ki circulation. To use the Outer Body Training Method the user begins by spreading Ki throughout until he or she can feel it pulsing in their Ki channels. Once the pulsing can be felt the practitioner can enter in the meditating state. From there he creates a mental image of their body composed solely of their Ki creating a spiritual body. It is important to make the image separate from their physical form. At this point the user then needs to bring up memories of past opponents. As the memories surface illusions of the opponent appears and can be fought against for practice, or presumably, any other purpose.
Advantages & Disadvantages
This training method can be done without physically moving which saves for injuries that can occur in actual sparring. The user does not have to know the full extent of the opponents he meets for them to appear in his memories. The Ki itself remembers the opponent's Ki and strength. This also means that by seeing a technique once the user can see it again as many times as he wishes with this training and even learn it (Abysmal Insight).
However, the opponents that appear in this training method have the same level of strength as they had when the user last encountered them. This means that any increase in strength that these opponents have undergone is not apparent until the user can encounter them again.
While in the meditation state one can increase one's reflexes faster because the nature of this training method, the meditating, focuses and starts from the mind, and can also increase one's control over one's Ki and learn how to use it more efficiently.
Spoiler: Shioon using Incarnate Illusion State
Due to the way it works an individual gains abilities that assist in the increase of one's skill:
A skill of the Outer Body Training Method. It allows the user to memorize any technique that he has seen even once, regardless of the martial arts style, and make it his own.

Iron Fist School
Former Head Jae-Myung Cho (Status: Deceased) Iron Body Technique (Cheol-Dong-Gong)
Known User(s):Iron Fist School , Jae-Myung Cho AKA Iron Fist Munju (Deceased)
is a technique of the Iron Fist School and the favored technique of the former Iron Fist School Munju Jae-Myung Cho.
When using this technique the body becomes as hard as "forged steel" and the physical strength is increased dramatically. When Jae-Myung used this technique he was able to punch through reinforced steel and was able to deflect and flip a moving car. The body can withstand physical attacks increasing the user's defence.
Hardening the body also slows its movement, making it harder for the user to keep up with the opponents speed. Although the users body is hard as steel, the eyes are not, which Goomoonryong has demonstrated twice. In addition, although the body can withstand strong physical attacks it can still be pierced by strong and sharp metallic objects.
Spoiler: Jae-Myung preparing the technique

Clan Head Yi Shioon (Status:Active)
A martial arts clan, it is considered the largest and most powerful clan outside of the Martial Arts Alliance.
As all other clan's have their own martial arts it is the same for Sun-Woo Clan. Several techniques have been used throughout the series but generally the martial arts of the Sun-Woo clan are not known to many. Hence, many people try to learn about their martial arts by provoking them or by other means. Some people seem to have some knowledge on some techniques or even know how to execute them. One example is Hyun Won-Jae, the head of Illwallmoon (One Moon School), who knows how to use Thunder Smashing Strike.
The martial arts of the Sun-Woo clan seen so far seem to center around fast and strong strikes focused mainly on hand-strikes while they use high level Walking Techniques to confuse the enemy further and ensure the landing of the attacks with the least possible opening for the enemy to defend against the attacks or even see them.
Double Dragon Chain Dance
Known User(s):Sunwoo Clan , Yi Gyu-Bum , Elder Kwon
This technique uses the "speed" aspect of the Sun-Woo martial arts to lunch multiple strikes to the opponent.
Phoenix Lashing Wing (A-team Translation) Phoenix Wing Whip (SakiCow Translation)
Known User(s):Sunwoo Clan , Elder Kwon , Yi Shioon
The specifics of this technique have not been discussed in any detail but it seems to be a striking technique taking advantage of the body's rotation and the arm's ability to act as a whip.
Known User(s): Sunwoo Clan , Hyun Won-Jae
The Thunder Fist or Thunder Smashing Strike is a striking technique from the Sun-Woo Clan's Martial Arts.
It focuses around the skill to gather and concentrate a large portion of one’s Ki into the fist. The gathered Ki strengthens the fist enough to result in a powerful strike.
There are various named forms of this technique, depending on how the strike is delivered and how leverage is gained for the movement.
Descending Thunder Bolt Strike(The Breaker)Descending Thunder Smashing Strike(The Breaker: New Waves)
Known User(s): Sunwoo clan , Yi Gyu-Bum , Kwon Jinie

Thundering Heaven Ultimate Thunder Strike (A-Team Trans) Heaven Shattering Thunder Strike (SakiCow)
Known User(s):Sunwoo Clan, Elder Kwon
This is a special type of the original technique that seems to be on a different level power wise. It has only been seen used by Jae-Kyu Kwon and even then only as an assumed killing shot.
Ascending Blue Dragon Strike
Known User(s):Sunwoo Clan - Elder Kwon , Yi Gyu-Bum
It appears to be just a simple palm-thrust technique against the opponent. However, it is a palm strike enhanced with Ki and its effect is powerful enough to leave a silhouette of the user's palm on the opponent while sending him several meters backwards. Even strong martial artists, like Ha-Ill Gang have lost conciousness and couldn't move properly for several hours.
Iron Wall Stance
Known User(s):Sunwoo clan ,Shioon , Kang Sung?
The Iron Wall Stance is a fighting stance that centers around the user's two fists. The two fists represent a spear and shield, respectively. To use this stance the user stands with their left shoulder facing their target. He or she then takes a wide stance with their feet about shoulder length apart and crouches slightly into the stance. From here the user needs to place the left fist straight out at their target's face. This fist represents the shield. Their second fist is held low and cocked against the stomach ready to strike. This second fist represents the spear.
Once the proper stance is assumed the user has to keep their shield fist in the way of their opponents line of sight. The wide, even stance allows the user to easily pivot and move in response to the opponents moves and keep them blinded. When the opponent presents an opening the user strikes with their spear fist using the opening caused by their shield fist.

Strong Dragon School
This school specialises in swordsmanship and has been commented on having a hard to track changing form. It has categorised sword martial arts by both level and style.
There are names depending on the style of sword
Light sword style
It involves using lightweight swords
Heavy sword style
Involves using heavy swords
Soft sword style
It involves techniques for use when wielding heavy and large swords. The user of this style can wield such swords seemingly with ease.
Free sword style
It follows the idea of taking advantage of every situation. The user is capable of using whatever they hold as a weapon.
It is the pinnacle of all sword styles. The user is capable of using a sword without holding one or anything else that he can use as a sword. The example is Ji-Gun Yoo who could use his own finger as a sword. If not mastered properly (like in Ji-Gun Yoo) the user has a "time limit" for its usage. In that case the user needs to have another weapon in order to keep fighting.
Thousand Flower Strike
Known User(s):Yoo Ji-Gun , Strong Dragon School
uses a finger technique to attack an opponent with great speed from multiple directions rapidly. The technique is a pressure-point attack that leaves the opponent defeated on the floor as his body is wrecked with pain so great that it is considered feeling the pain of death without dying

Steel Spirit Fist/Pseudo Soul Crushing Strike
Known User(s):Chang-ho , SUC
a false version of the Soul-Crushing Strike. It looks the same technique and is therefore used as proof that they are disciples of Gomoonryong. A true disciple and Soul Crusing Strike user like Shi-Woon was able to see through the similarities. This technique has also been shown to be much weaker than the true technique. Shi-Woon's, Chun-Woo's and the Former Alliance Chief's were able to break apart a reinforced glass door, man sized boulder, and the left hand of Goomoonryong respectively while the Pseudo version has only been shown breaking text books and non-murim-in's arm bones.
Current Head Jang-Mung Kwon
The Hogi Clan style of martial arts seems to be based around using ones enviroment and blocking to dodge and confuse opponents combined with quick burts of offense.
This technique has not been thoroughly expounded upon but it seems to be an offensive continuous technique that creates a super heated layer on the users body. The effects can seemingly be transferred to an object by holding on to it.

Double Focus Stomp
While fighting in the Koa Tower Chun-Woo used the Focus Stomp with both of his feet at once while standing on an opponents shoulders. Needless to say it decimated his opponent. It is unknown if this is a technique that Chun-Woo developed or if it is a further step in the Focus Stomp Technique.
Spoiler: Double Focus Stomp
Focus Stomp & Rupture Point Strike
The Rupture Point Strike is actually the same technique as Focus Stomp. It had the same Kanji in the original. When translating to English however the technique that Shi-Woon Yi utilized was named Rupture Point Strike. This might originate from the large swing Shi-Woon used before performing Focus Stomp to break Cool Guy's hand
Black Heaven and Earth School
Former Munju Unwol
Current Munju by default Chun Woo Han
The full knowledge of the martial arts of this school is considered a mystery to everyone except of the selected-one student to whom the full teachings are passed on from the master. Although, the students may vary, for each generation only one individual is deemed worthy of the full knowledge. Although, referred here as "tradition", this is not something that consists part of the teaching process of the school but also something that can happen naturally and coincidentally like:
Chun-Woo meeting his master-to-be Un-Wol in the cave and becomes his student
Shi-Woon meeting his master-to-be Chun-Woo at the school where he went undercover for a mission from Black Forest Defence.
Both cases coincidental but fitting the criteria of this tradition. This tradition makes this school an exception to the other schools and has been the reason for many conflicts to arise.
The nature of this school's martial arts revolves around using the circulation of Ki in the body to enhance the practitioner's body's performance and result in techniques with great force. This force is both internal and external from the practitioner. As witnessed by Ryuji displaying this style's Walking Techniques, while giving the practitioner great speed, it also creates a wind-like pressure from his movements pushing the surrounding individuals back.
However, due to the interference with the Ki's circulation, which is a delicate area of the Ki's usage there are drawbacks to this style rendering it potentially dangerous. The most well known drawback so far is the emotion which can affect the performance of the practitioner. Strong negative emotions can distort the practitioner's circulation causing him to loose control while his performance is still enhanced resulting in the state known as Black Origin Threshold which is referred to as "an uncontrollable technique".
Black Heaven and Earth Technique
Known User(s): Chun Woo Han , Yi-Shioon
is taught by the Black Heaven & Earth School. It is the ultimate power distribution technique, coveted by all the Murim. It is the only technique strong enough to deal with the amount of Ki let off by the One Moon Divine Dan.
This greatest of the Ki Circulation techniques was taught by Un-Wol to Chun-Woo Han who then passed it on to Shi-Woon Yi. It is envied and coveted by many masters and elites, most notably the Former Alliance Chief.
The specifics of the technique have yet to be explained in detail, but it is implied that the technique allows the user to become stronger than they would be without it. Some possible explanations of its use may be seen when Shi-Woon is training under Chun-Woo when the latter explains that Ki exercises will bring basic skills such as speed and strength up to a new standard.
Despite its advantages, it is extremely difficult to use. The pure state of Black Origin Threshold can be accessed at any given time by the practitioner but there are cases when this cannot be controlled. Extreme negative emotions, such as anger, can spontaneously drive the user in the pure state. In addition, it seems that the longer the Black Heaven and Earth Technique remains active the closest the user gets to the Black Origin Threshold. This is shown as a natural reaction of the body due to exhaustion of Ki reserves.
The activation of the technique starts with a deep breath.
Black Origin Threshold
Known User(s) Chun Woo Han, Yi- Shioon
The Black Origin Threshold causes the natural flow of the Ki to flow in reverse and signifies the moment when one surpasses the limits of the consciousness and the subconsciousness, the enemy & the self, and becomes the purest "Mu" (Fighting Spirit), but this is also its greatest weakness.
Spoiler: Chun Woo Han's BOT
Spoiler: Shioon's BOT
Those who attain the threshold are all swallowed up by animal-like emotions, mainly rage, and lose their sense of self. All known users have been unable to distinguish between friends and enemies, attacking anyone who approaches them. When Un-Wol showed this technique to the MAA Munjus he slaughtered all of them for no reason.
Loss of Self
While in this state the conscious and subconscious minds seem to switch. While the subconscious mind is in control and consumed with rage, the conscious mind is left to observe what is going on leading to the users to contemplate the situation they are in.
Seemingly Limitless Ki and Stamina
This state also grants the user a seemingly limitless amount of strength and stamina. Using this state Chun-Woo fought and even killed several masters after being exhausted and shot two times. Shi-Woon, still recovering from his broken Ki-Center, managed to fight with two real master level fighters defeating one and fighting the other to a stand still.
Disregard for Pain and Injury
The Black Origin Threshold also allows the user to ignore all pain and injuries. Users have been shown to keep fighting when anyone else would have died several times over. Shi-Woon sustained a wound that tore open his side and maimed his left arm but still continued fighting.
Formless Martial Arts and Power
Perhaps the strangest trait of the Black Origin Threshold is that while in this state the users' fighting style becomes animalistic. It loses all martial form and focuses solely on destruction and power. Despite some looking down on this lack of form, it has been shown to be very effective with Shi-Woon effortlessly defeating the Western White Star and Chun-Woo defeating several high level Murim including three of the Heavenly Way School's Five Protectors and So-Chun Hyuk.
Both Goomoonryong and Shi-Woon have exhibited strange discussions in their minds while in the Black Origin Threshold State. They seem to be aware of their actions but unable to properly comprehend the situations they are in. Chun-Woo speaks on his inability to control the technique and Shi-Woon exhibits denial of a tragedy. This may be the source of the connection between this technique and the Outer Body Training Method.
Higher Level Cognition
When Shi-Woon entered this state and engaged Ryuji at the Nine Dragons High School Ryuji commented that it was not the Black Origin Threshold that he knew. This was prompted by Shi-Woon seeming to observe and copy his fighting style. This is contrary to most everything else known about this state where the user is consumed with animilistic rage and at best seeks a singular individual to kill as opposed to anyone. It doesn't make sense that Shi-Woon would be doing such high level thinking as analyzing and copying a technique. This may be what was hinted at in the first part of the series when Chun-Woo commented that he had failed to master the technique. It could also have something to do with Shi-Woon's huge Ki channels but small Ki center and Elder Kwon's theory about Shi-Woon being able to master a new level of martial arts. This could also simply be a combined effect of Ryuji's paranoia and Shi-Woon's unreasonably great mastery over Goomoonryong's martial arts style. Shi-Woon's internal dialogue seems to hint at a connection between the Outer Body Training Method and his state.
Interestingly, while rescuing Sera, Shi-Woon seemed to have entered into a pseudo-Black Origin Threshold. He exibited the trademark limitless Ki and disregard for pain but retained his reasoning skills and focused on attacking the enemy and protecting his allies from harm. Although he never lost control there were several points when he also showed the animalistic tendencies shown by Chun-Woo and himself later on. After its use, Hyun Won-Jae commented that his pulse was beating at an unreal pace and wondered how a human could live in such a state at all. It is possible that this state is not a part of the Black Origin Threshold but a manifestation of it and that this state was the result of the artificially activated Ki inside Shi-Woon by Seung-Jae Bae Spirit Medicine.

Gale Destruction Strike(MangaCow trans.)/ Gale Annihilation Strike (A-Team Trans)
Known User(s): Ryu-Ji

Chaotic Heavens Destruction Strike(MangaCow)/Obscured Heaven Annihilation Strike(A-Team)
Know User(s): Black Origin School ,Lone Wolf , Han Chun-Woo, Shioon
As the strongest technique of arguably the strongest school in the entire Murim it is no surprise that it is both powerful and complicated. Even a superhuman genius like Chun-Woo Han believed it to be difficult. It also combined all of the knowledge he left behind for Shi-Woon.
There are three main steps in starting this technique. Not all of them are understood but here is the basic outline from Chun-Woo Han.
Gather the three different Ki flows and focus them into one area.
Take 3 steps back. This movement is due to it belonging to the Rising Fist Arts and provides a chance to execute an Iron Kick. They were explained as 3 " steps" with a unique pattern, probably related to the Black Heaven and Earth School's movement teachings.
Finally, begin executing the strike by entering the 12 Red Heavens Paths. At this point the user assumes a posture with their back turned toward their opponent and fists touching near the bellybutton. From this point on the user must factor the technique into the situation they are in and use it accordingly.
The next step is not elaborated on in Chun-Woo Han's explanation but it seems that after gathering, focusing, and preparing their Ki the user instantaneously leaps forward (by likely using a Walking Technique such as Jin) and brings their right fist forward while turning their torso to maximize the blows power.
Its strength is such that it creates a small shock wave upon impacting with its target and managed to tear open the side of a Black Origin Threshold user as well as maim one of his arms.

Rising Tiger School
Fierce Tiger Strike(MangaCow)/ Fierce Tiger Paw Strike (A-Team)
Know User(s): Rising Tiger School , Hyuk So-Chun
This Martial Arts Style was lost to time due to unknown circumstances in the last 60-70 years based on a living witness of the original users. In recent times it has been resurrected by So-Chun Hyuk, although he insists that his version is simply a copy of a few basic principals and not real mastery of the style.
When the practitioner withdraws the left hand the flow of Ki changes. Hence, in order to use it the practitioner must change the Ki-Flow and use a heavier Ki. The practitioner then punches forward. It is a Ki strike capable of effortlessly breaking a wooden stake in half.

Known User(s): Ju Sang-Sik ,Heung-In Hospital
These needles are used as acupuncture needles to stab into an opponent. It is unknown if the power of those needles lies with the needle itself or with its placement on the body, but the effects are great. Being struck feels more like being stabbed with a knife than a needle and when used on a strong opponent it still drove him to his knees. It has been said to normally knock people unconscious. Should the victim remain conscious pulling out the needle can cause great pain and mental stress and will likely knock the person out even if they have managed to remain conscious to this point.
