    I love the 80's - Movie Edition

We all know that the 80's are well-known for their awesome music. But we can't deny that there were some pretty cool and amazing movies in the 80's too. With that in mind, what is your favorite 80's movie?

    My favorite 80's movies are:

    - Karate Kid 1 and Karate 2, especially Karate Kid 2.
    - Top Gun
    - The Breakfast Club
    - And of course E.T.!!!

These are some of mine, but what about you guys? what are your favorite movies from the 80's?

    Such a great thread idea.

It is so hard to choose favorite movies from the 80's - there are sooo many great ones. I'll try to narrow it down a little bit though and only include the cheesy 80's movies that everyone love

    Back to the Future
    Goonies
    Ferris Bueler's Day Off
    Caddyshack
    The Breakfast Club
    Fast Times at Ridgemont High
    Ghost Busters
    Big Trouble in Little China
    Beetlejuice
    Flight of the Navigator

Re: I love the 80's - Movie edition

    Let me think...

    Batman
    Die Hard
    The Terminator
    Aliens
    Airplane!
    This Is Spinal Tap
    The Empire Strikes Back
    Return of the Jedi
    The Shining
    Raging Bull
    Scarface
Back to the Future I and II

I'm sure I'm forgetting so many... But man, there were a lot of good movies in the 80's. Lots of awful, awful ones as well, but still..

Re: I love the 80's - Movie edition

The 80's were a great time for movies, lots of good stuff.

The Shining was pretty damn good, I love Jack Nicholson.
    Aliens
Pet Semetary ( I know the movie has flaws but it has huge sentimental value for me and definitely a high creepy factor lol)
    The Exorcist

Theres plenty more but right now dates allude me and I'm lazy ( don't want to check the internet to be sure lol)

Great movies, vintagemistakes! With the exception of the movies above, I also like the ones you have mentioned. They are exceptions because I haven’t watched them, but I have heard that Caddyshack and Fast Times at Ridgemont High are utterly awesome movies.

I was so scared of those little monsters that I couldn't bring myself to watch those movies. Iirc, they were cute at the beginning and then they would turn into creepy little creatures.

I can’t believe I forgot to mention Star Wars. Thank you for reminding me about it. Which reminds me of another movie I like:

    Ewoks: The Battle for Endor

I used to watch that movie with my classmates. We were like six or seven and iirc, I think we even cried while watching it.

Re: I love the 80's - Movie Edition

Too much to sum up, definitely a lot that has already been mentioned over here but let me mention something that hasn't been mentioned

    * The Goonies -> that movie was fun and stunning at the same time
    * Black Rain -> I enjoyed that movie a lot too because of the setting of course
    * Die Hard -> Imo, the mother of all action movies - "Now I have a machine gun. Ho ho ho." (probably my most favourite oneliner ever)
    * Predator

Re: I love the 80's - Movie Edition

I just remember watching a lot of action films from the 80s when I was young; Commado, the Silverster Stallong catalogue( Rambo-Rocky), Delta Force, American Ninja, etc...

I've never seen ANY Indiana Jones

Re: I love the 80's - Movie Edition

I need to add two more 80’s movies to my list :

“When Harry Met Sally”: Great romantic comedy that …showed the world that girls can certainly fake "some" things.

“Trading Places”: Another great comedy with a very interesting story and with a very intelligent message.

While posting in another thread I remember another fav of mine: “Honey, I Shrunk the Kids”.
