I feel like there is no Sasuke right now. Kishi gutted him so he could start his journey as the prodigal son. Right now he's a catch phrase spouting, jutsu generating, kill-bot.....and it sucks.
His struggle with revenge vs. friends was really interesting in part one. But know we have no first person account of what's going on in his head. He shows up and just starts wrecking stuff. He might as well be a tornado or a randomly occurring rock slide.
The team 7 interaction was awesome. All the characters suffered when Kishi split them up (except Kakashi). But Kishi went on to do a real number on Sasuke. It would be nice to have him back for an appreciable amount of time before this thing ends.
But I'm as tired of him being as one dimensional as he is as I am of Naruto blubbering over him and having every power up he gets turn into another rasengan. It's frustrating to know that at any time Kishi can bring us up to speed with Sasuke, but I guess he's waiting until practically the end to do it. So Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura are just frozen in time until it happens since nobody can move forward at all until Sasuke comes clean and lets those other two know about it somehow.
Revenge filled psychopath who can't see anything beyond revenge. What will be left of him if he does wipe out the entire Leaf Village? He doesn't seem to be the kind of person who likes relationships, so the Uchiha Clan would be wiped out in the end anyway.
I still like Sasuke, even more than in Part 1, I think. The reason? In part 1 it was because he was cool, arrogant, genius, flawed. And in part 2 the main reason is Naruto whom I've come to simply hate (even though I adorded him in Part 1). Too much of that stupid idealism, of that holier-than-thou attitute, intentional or otherwise, too much of the god status... way too much. And now I'll take anyone who doesn't want to take that shit from naruto and can at least oppose to the ridiculousness Naruto forces on everyone there. So yeah, Sasuke, I'm in his corner.
I hate people claiming going Sasuke went from Bad to Good and thus why they dont like him.
You can hate him for not having let revenge go
You can hate him for not forgiving the leaf and going back to the village
But you need to make sure you hate him for the right thing.
Sasuke is now a criminal, but his actions are more than justified.
He never liked Oro, make sure u don't take Sasuke being with him as him sharing the same goals.
Oro made Sasuke sick for being he was and how he played with people's life.
Sasuke simply used Oro, nothing more, nothing less.
Where it gets tricky is obviously after Itachi's death.
Where Sasuke started to be known as a criminal is when he attacked Bee.
This was his very first and considerable f**k up.
When it comes to revenge, Sasuke has more than the right to wanna furfill it.
While Konoha as a whole may not be guilty, Kishi made it clear to us that to some extent, Danzo was a criminal/vilain in his own rights.
Kakashi achieved revenge the moment Obito died.
Shikamaru and co. got revenge too
The only reason why Naruto didnt achieve revenge is because he was against someone who suffered of Konoha and had reasons to attack them in the first place, and that Nagato was no psycopathic freak like the kinds of Hidan for instance, and actually had some sense of justice and logic.
Sasuke is wanting to achieve revenge, all i'm saying is make sure you dont hate him for going against Konoha while the blamed the Uchiha when they actually turned out to not be guilty, and also don'T forget that only Naruto and co, knows that Madara was behind it, Sasuke doesnt believe this to be the case, otherwise you'd be sure he'd jump Madara asap.
Sasuke is greatly affected by his emotions, and given the life he's had it'S completly normal, don't claim he goes and kill everything he sees, he has always acted out of revenge EXCEPT for Bee.
The Samurais got in his way as well as the Kages, he didnt want to fight them.
Sasuke's always been my favorite character in the manga, and remains so. There just seems to be far more to him than the other character's motivations. Take away his cooler-than-everyone-else character design and jutsu and you still have an interesting character to watch.
We see the actions that lead to his troubled mindstate, his struggles to avenge those he lost, and the mistakes he makes along the way that send him further down the wrong path. While I wait patiently to see him be awesome in another fight, the thing I'm most ready to see is what would happen if he finally got his vengeance, or what he says when he's drawing his last breath if he dies at the end, or what happens when he finally gets the chance to kill Naruto.
That said, I've always, ALWAYS liked the rival better than the main hero in shounen. Vegeta in DBZ, Hiei in Yu Yu Hakusho, Ryuho in s.CRY.ed, Death the Kid in Soul Eater, you name it. If you compare all these characters you'll notice one thing is prevalent.
The hero is always some "balls bigger than brains" diehard loon who'll jump into a pit of fire if it'll save their friend's life, whether there's more important things to do than save said friend's life. They're also heavily armored by plot, luck, retconning, and divine intervention from the writer. You hardly ever believe their fights are won thanks to genuine strength or skill on their own terms, which makes the people around them look far more impressive. So in a sense, Naruto made me like Sasuke alot better, lmfao.
Wow. I feel the exact same way. Prototypical heroes are so lame. They'll do the dumbest things, but of course, everything works out perfectly in the end. Its just so unrealistic. I much prefer the rival characters as well. They are often much more realistic and complex compared to the one-dimensional hero characters.
but sasuke is not an rival character or an anti hero, his motives are so unrealistic, in part 1 you could understand him, but after itas dead he turned into an emo guy who does not think about his actions, i think itachi, nagato, etc. fits better in the role of anti hero and are more sympathic than him
^A rival is someone who equals you in skill or power and pushes you to the next level inorder to keep up with or overtake them. Every new jutsu Naruto developed, every plateu of power he reached, every blow he took, was for the sake of getting that much closer to Sasuke.
So yeah. He's most definately a rival.
Sasuke's been a rival since we first met him, and even Naruto admits this. Sure, nowadays it's about Naruto rescuing Sasuke/killing him, but they're still rivals because they compete with each other, trying to be stronger than the other. It's similar to Goku and Vegeta.
It really does seem to be that way.Originally Posted by ninjabot

Many of the suggestions were that Sasuke should turn to "the dark side" for good, and now that he did, people hate him still/more.
Personally, I neither like or dislike Sasuke. IMO he's better developed in Part 2, but he just doesn't catch my interest that much. Maybe because I think he's sort of a ripoff character from another franchise (hint in my avatar ). Although I do admit, his fights are pretty awesome, probably one of the best in the manga.
^To be honest, everyone wanted him to turn to the darkside for good because they wanted (badly) for him to have no redeeming qualities for two reasons:
1: Focus on Sasuke would disappear and Naruto would get his spotlight again (permanently)
2: To have more fuel for flame wars, lol
I'm not a fan of evildoers, badguys, or assholes. I just happen to like the idea of seeing how said evildoers, badguys, or assholes, become who they are, and what happens along the road to either redemption or death. And if they have cool attacks, fights, and stuff like that, then that's even better.
I agree. The main "bad guys" usually have a more complicated, but at the same interesting, background story than other characters.
To tell the truth I hated Sasuke in Naruto....but in Naruto Shippuden I started to like him more and more, untill now he's my favourite along side Sai, I suppose cause all my other favourites died off....
I'm not really sure why I like him....maybe because he looks more handsome now? could it be that he's also started his own story in the background....who knows XD
When he starts fighting with his brain again instead of just spamming his Mangekyou then maybe I might soften to him up again. Until then, to me he's no better than anyone else who can have those eyes.
