So I watched the second episode. I feel weird. Lot of things changed. I'm actually annoyed with what they did with Daenerys. WHY? WHERE IS THAT DAMN WHITE CITY? WHY THEY HAD TO KILL HIM?

The dead city isn't really necessary to the plot. But killing him was unnecessary IMO...

Wow, they're changing stuff... Especially towards the end of episode 2.

Maybe it's the writers' intention to give the readers of the novels some surprises as well.. I must say, the show isn't blowing my mind as much now that I've read the books. But that's no shocker. It's more of a "let's see how this scene turns out"-thing now than "omgomgomgwhatsgonnahappennextdamnit?", but I still think they're doing a dang good job. I mean, it looks like there are going to be more and more changes, but that doesn't rule out that it can still turn out good. Like GRRM said himself "the show is their baby and the books are mine". In a way I actually kind of like that they're not sticking to the novels 100%, since I feel the changes they make is the only element of surprise left when you've read the books, and it divides the show from the novels and makes it feel like more of a work of its own rather than just the books' chapters plastered onto a screen. As long as they stick to the story and don't go all Fullmetal Alchemist on us and wander of in a completely different direction, I'm not against the changes.

Like I said, I'm not sure how I feel about them yet because I don't know where it's headed. So my feelings are a bit ambiguous at this point.



Another thing, people complained a lot about Ros last season and I didn't really feel one way or the other. But now I'm annoyed. What the hell is the point of having her in the show? Do we really need to know the Ins and Outs of the brothel? We already know Littlefinger is a scumbag...

I haven't watched ep2 yet, but I asumed they were gonna replace Shataya/Alayaya with Ros.

About the changes considerin Catelyn, they did lot of that on first season too. In books Catelyn wanted Ned to go to the capital, in the show it was opposite. Now the same thing with Rob, her and negoating with Renly. They are making her less hateable than in the books.

I'm kinda afraid now what I'll see on Sunday/Monday based on what I've read here and some other places...

It's me being picky I suppose. They're two separate entities, but I can't help but look at some changes and wonder whether it was really necessary.

But Shataya and Alayaya are already made somewhat unnecessary by Tyrion keeping Shae in the Tower of the Hand instead of in her own place away from the Red Keep.

I agree that I used to like her more (even a lot) before I read the books XD

No kidding. Every time I read "Catelyn" at the top of the beginning of a new chapter, I let out an audible grunt. Every page, I just wished she'd be killed off. Not the way I hate Cersei, because I enjoy reading Cersei's chapters and she's the great kind of hatable character.

But anyway, I'm almost able to sympathize with both those characters in the show, because they made them both much less hatable. Cersei feels much more vulnerable and sensitive than in the books. Catelyn is still annoying but I don't want to skip every scene she's in, which I often wanted when reading the books (but didn't, obviously.. her chapters just took longer to get through).

My problem is more with the changes of behavior, like with catelyn/cersei and now Mel

Now Mel? What has really changed with her?

Cersei is more likeable than the books I suppose. Or at least more understandable. I think Cat acts the same, just that her story is somewhat altered.

Oh my =-= From the posts, I thought someone really important like Jon or Jorah was killed. At least it's a minor char, right D: I kinda agree with Orgz so far XD
