Imo, mixing what happens in the books might be great, actually. I'd rather see the chronological order of events than to see it geographically separated like it happens in the books xD So I agree with you here (I had the impression that you also think that that's a good thing).

It makes more sense, since I think GRRM intended to write the books this way anyway. But with added locations it might make more financial sense to keep the split. However, keeping actors under contract and not appearing would be tough.

Also, people might forget about the characters or what they did/happened to them. It's common for me to hear from people that only read two books things like "who's that dude again?" or "this serie has too many characters... I can't keep track of all of them...". Making them (or a big part of them) continue to show up in every season would help people to recognize them over the time.

Compared to season 1, yes. It was poorly done. And all the changes made were for the worst IMHO.

But yes, still top tier TV.

When you compare with the previous work of the same series.
If not It's like comparing a remake of a bad movie with the original of a good movie.

I foresaw this happening when they started to get to the bigger books really. I think Clash could have been made into two seasons, but it's sort of in between. With Storm there's no other option. Either way, I think they got most things right, but I'm not sure how I would rank the seasons.
