    Re: The Oscars / 2012

Awesome thread destiny, one of the rare occasions I spot a thread and want to me a post in an instant! Well my personal favorite would be Woody Allen and his film, due to personal liking of all of his work. I suspect some tihngs to be obvious though after the Golden Globes so we can clearly have some winners already checked for the Oscars. Also even though it is hyped to get awards I agree with the hype of "The Artist".

    Re: The Oscars / 2012

I'm disappointed Drive didn't get more nominations... Oh well. Midnight in Paris should win best original screenplay, I loved the dialog in that movie! Even though I haven't seen The Descendants I can sort of see Clooney winning the best actor in a leading role. I'm also wondering why neither Tintin nor Arriety were nominated for best animated picture.

I think Glenn Close deserved it more than Meyrl Streep, for some reason, must be the movie, I am not really fond of Thatcher as a historical character. :/ Though I think Meyril was right on spot with how the audience reacted to her winning. Albert Nobbs is just a legendary movie, and a legendary role that Glenn played. Transformation of the highest epicness! Also my man Woody won best screenplay, natural and expected of him.

^ Awesome Simpsons reference . I would have also liked to see Drive win something but it seems like the kind of movie that will only get recognized later on, like Taxi Driver and Fight Club. I really am glad that The Artist won best picture though. I saw it the day before the Oscars and loved it! I'm also glad that DuJardin won best actor, though I find it strange that Bérénice Bejo was nominated for best supporting actress rather that best actress.

Well…I still need to watch Glenn Close’s movie, but Meryl Streep was great in “The Iron Lady”, her performance was outstanding so I do understand why she won the Oscar.

And yes, Woody won best screenplay and he totally deserved to win that award. ^_^

The Artist is a wonderful movie; I was so happy that it won the best picture award. Loved the movie as well! The story, the acting, the music, everything was great about The Artist.

I was glad about him winning best actor too, and I was surprised that she was nominated for that category as well. I guess…it might have to do with the definition of a supporting actress…

If you liked The Artist, I really recommend the others Hazanavicius movies of you find them subtitled, in particular the OSS117. They are James Bond parodies with the same cast than the Artist (at least for lead roles)
He is also very famous for La classe américaine

btw is it true that there was a big polemic about his f-word ?

I've watched OSS 117: Cairo, Nest of Spies and loved it! There are a lot of hilarious scenes, and I love how Hazanavicius managed to make the movie look so much like an old spy film. Now I have to watch Lost in Rio as soon as I can.

    Re: The Oscars 2013

The only movie out of the nine best film nominees that I've seen is Life of Pi, which I wouldn't mind seeing it when since it's a pretty beautiful movie. I really need to watch the other nominees though

No nomination for Skyfall for best film? Okay....

This year I've not yet seen any of the films on nominated; I'll possibly watch The Life of Pi this coming week but I think that will be it. Just because of the buzz behind it, I think Les Miserables will scoop a lot of the awards its up for. I've also noticed the lack of nominations for The Hobbit???

On a more positive note, I'm glad to see Silver Lining Playbook getting that number of nominations; it's a really endearing film with strong comedy and a lot of heart. I recommend it if you've not seen it. My predictions will follow.
