I hope D.Gray-Man will move up a few more slots this next month when all heaven breaks lose. *_*
Not that number four isn't already amazing. c:
4th place was expected. Although Bleach and Naruto are on bad arcs, it's still hard to beat them.
Not bad for 3 days of sales.
It's always on stores a few days before, just like JumpSQ. But sales aren't big unless it's One Piece. I saw OP selling 500k before the official release once.
That list has one example. Junjo Mistake was released on June 1st. The data shows this: Junjou Mistake (41,757 / 50,234). It means that it was on stores on the previous week and they sold almost 9k copies before the official date.
It's usually around 10k for most mangas. So if i was to take a shot i'd say that DGM sold 190k in 3 days and 20k before the official date.
But the numbers are a bit bigger when the official date is right after a holiday break.

Ah, yes. I can't be 100% sure about the exact numbers.
The sales out of official dates could be a bit higher like 50k. I haven't seen DGM numbers like Junjo Mistake to be sure. I saw Reborn once or twice having numbers like that. Since Reborn has similar sales, I am guessing DGM could get the same numbers.
I like Katsura's D. Gray-Man because she actually has a story she wants to tell, not pimp her readers for more cash. But I wouldn't mind seeing D. Gray-Man at a lower rank but with a Claymore cult following. Less popularity means less pressure on her to produce which would put less strain on her health. Of course I'm going on a tangent.
Anyway I can't wait until the next chapter comes out. 205 (or where ever the hell we are) was heart-breaking. We all knew this day would come but wow, I was not ready for it.
/\ Yay, beautiful words, i agree with everything
And also, i think the fact of dgm is mensal with this plot just only make us want to read a new chapter, because you've waited a month and when a chapter comes out, you want the next month so much. It's adorable how Hoshino binds us on the history.
So now we'll have next volumes previews like in TB's (for exemple)? Wow, even if it is made by the editorial it lefts us the two of the most mysterious questions from this volume as cliffhanger.
yay! DGM in the 4th place!!! That's delightful.
As I'm excited with how Hoshino is developping the plot, it doesn't bother me if she explains first the Bookmen-Noah relationship or where Allen's going or What happened to Link... All of this situation are interesting (but I have honestly to say I'd prefer to see Allen and Link...and then Lavi on the same chapter!).

I always wondered how well DGM does sales-wise in Japan. I didn't realize it does that well, though!
Dgm is in 3, it spent bleach! I'm proud to be a dgm fan. Katsura sensei is awesome!
DGM sells an average of 1 million copies per volume. So it does pretty well.
According to Bakuman, series that sell over 500k copies never get canceled. So it's nice to know that DGM is here until Hoshino decides to end it.
