It's better that she takes longer break to recover rather than forcing herself to work and died or lapse into a coma. In my opinion, hiatus(es) is a lot better than an axed or normal ending(s) because you know there's a chance (even if it's slim) the series continues, but with ending, it's more painful because you know that it's the end.
