Whatever the powers do to the brain... it seems more like a long-term thing. That's the only way you can explain it since Cherry was showing no symptoms when he went to get a check up. Also a possibility is that Cherry doesn't have a problem at all... it may have been a one off when it got to his master, or the master simply had a regularly acquired brain disease.

I would be less concerned about Cherry's potential brain damage and more concerned about him passing out from exhaustion at this point.

Sakurai (Cherry) is not going to die. He's equivalent to a shounen character.
And last time I checked, HERO shounen characters (who's loved one was killed by the enemy).
And lets face it, Cherry is not ready to die. He's just going to walk around and find some soldiers while bursting in tears. Maybe he'll run into Tae-chan and save her from the new danger that their human group seem to have triggered.

According to the picture above, I guess the Gantzers will be the main survivors of humanity.
It's an irony that those who will survive have already experienced death.

^ I'm seeing the situation like Inaba where once he starts being heroic in some way, he dies. But you are right he probably won't die although im afraid there's still a considerable possibilty.

@Asahina: Don't know if I'd hold anyone in this series to shounen logic though. Many a character has already died during their crowning moment of awesome.

And slaughtering enemy civilians does make it a bit harder to fit the shounen hero trope.

Well, I guess for the most part we've seen survivors who'll cling to Gantzers at all costs, and those who think that they're better off without them. The latter has tended to be stupider.
Possibly being caught in a potentially lethal trap aside, at least Tae's group actually worked to make it on their own.

I'm telling you he's Tetsuo. He was pushed around before acquiring his powers and now he's striking out. You can clearly see that he harbours a huge amount of rage within him. And currently his own worst enemy is himself, nobody else can touch him. We actually have no idea what damage his powers are inflicting in him but for all we know after a bit of rest he could continue at the rate he is.

It seems like Gantz should have equipped itself with airbags, it's pretty amusing while the ball remains unharmed for the most part the only reason why the guy in the ball seems to be dead is because of the impact. Not sure when they will show Cherry again but I see three things coming from his part in the story. What Cherry is doing right now is very harmful to the Gantzer's image, there's no doubt that there may be live footage of Cherry's rampage which will just confirm "earth" that the Gantzers are the true evil trying to stop the peaceful attempt to reach out to the aliens.
Odds are he might die in three ways
-His own brain hemorrhage from the intense use of his power at a point where he would really need it, or an instance that would help his allies
-The World Military kill him as a "Threat" in order to go with the false ideal of a peace treaty
-He gets killed by the aliens while attempting to use his powers but becomes unable to manifest them.

I guess there are actually two ways one and three are kind of similar. Overall though his whole buildup is most likely an excuse to use up his powers so they can't be used at a time when they'll be useful. If Cherry stayed stable and focused through this invasion then he would have the chance to outshine Kurono and take the spotlight in saving the world lol. Since I doubt the author wants to do that, he created a plotline that forces Cherry to use up all of his powers so that he becomes useless in the end. Since Gantz isn't around anymore and they can't "reset" the stress he is putting himself through now will most likely kill him.

It would be interesting if the actual end result was a more positive note but he's sort of gone towards the dark side. He had a chance to keep his humanity when he saw the kindness of the older alien and grand daughter but he doesn't want to accept the fact that these soldiers are in a sense like the Gantzers. While they may be small in numbers they make a big impact and for the most part the civilians don't really seem to have an opinion on it. Unless they do and I missed it, though for the most part they do see humans as primitive creatures as low and rats and snakes and such. Though that brings another question, what's the deal with soldiers bringing civilians on their ship, it almost seems as if maybe their old home planet was destroyed so they found a new place to live, but they have to eradicate everything first. That's the only logical reason why civilians would be on board and sorry if that was brought up before.

Overall though there's definitely a lot going on in the story there were four, but now there are five plots, the Gantz gang trying to save civilians, Cherry's rampage, Kurono looking for Tae, Tae's misadventure and now Nishi wondering what he can do now that Gantz is out of comission. I would like to see more focus on Nishi in the next few chapters since I am curious to see if possibly out of sheer desperation he tried to take control of Gantz, since he did do a lot of research on it and did know of some "hidden" secrets behind the machine, maybe he can actually use it himself. While that would be the ultimate cheat it would be interesting for Nishi to actually have control of a Gantz ball and give him a godlike ability lol.

Cherry's rampge will most likely have him meet up with the original Kurono or Tae first since I think the Gantz team is back on earth. As for the Gantz team they may attempt to trek back to the apartment depending on how far they are or they may get called back by that other ball. Hm..
I just recalled this scene on the lower right panel http://www.mangareader.net/97-47827-...apter-314.html , it's possible that the Nerd (is he still nameless lol?) might be able to take control of the Gantz ball with Nishi's help which would be an interesting development. If they can somehow control a Gantz ball then hopefully they won't have to worry about the rogue Gantzers forcefully calling them over to do their own personal missions for them.

Cherry can always redeem himself. He's done it before.

It's cool now that things are branching out a bit. Before it was Kei/Tae to the exclusion of everything else. All of a sudden we're gaining the perspective of like 5 different groups. All we need now is HS.

Did ya'll see that Gantz/Nishi chapter? Was there going to be more of that? I wonder if that girl will come in to play later. I figured the fat girl was Nishi's pair but I think Oku likes Nishi a bit too much to have him hook up with her.

Also, this other girl, did she like Nishi to begin with, or did she just say that to him 'cause she was afraid? Also, what did he do with the cat?
