    Summon Society

Why is it that the toads have an advanced society with their own land, jutsu, weapons and clothing where as all other summons seem to be just normal animals with human intelligence?
it always bugged me. some of the other summons have items of clothing and weapons (kakashi's dogs and temari's weasel) but kishi hasnt really explained how the summons really fit into the ninja world. do they each have their own realm like mount myokobu? are there other techniques like senjutsu associated with other summons? how are contracts originally gained without a previous summoner present? why are some animals smart and linked to ninja while others not?

discuss theories or ask your own questions

    Re: Summon Society

I believe that when nin-jutsu was first taught by the Rykodou Sennin, some animals/creatures also decided to learn about it, especially since they were all haunted by the juubi before the RS managed to imprison it. For the contracts it's actually easy to understand how it came to be. Remember the the Mount Myokobo is located somewhere in the nations, for Fukasaku said it would take 1 month to walk there, and you had to know tha path. I would assume it is the same for all the other shinobi animals. Therefore, all needed was for 1 shinobi to walk to the a creature's hideout and sign the contract there in person.

For the difference between animals I would assume some animals (those that can be summoned) are shinobi while the rest are just plain animals roaming the land..

    Re: Summon Society

I think the reason why toads seem to have advanced society is because of how it's related to the main character. Hell, we didn't even know about the society until about 350 chapters into the story, when Jiraiya was having a flashback. We didn't see the extent of how advanced the toad society was until Naruto went there for training. In both of those cases, it was all directly or indirectly related to Naruto himself. If Naruto's summoning animal was dog like Kakashi, maybe we'd see an advanced society and powerful dogs as well.

    Re: Summon Society

I also thought of that to be honest. Maybe they all have hierarchic positions too... I remember when I read "Nidaime Manda" (in the spoilers) I was really happy actually that maybe Kuchyoses had Kages too... But has for senjutsu, I think (unfortunately) that it's exclusively frog-related, Slugs don't have It (Tsunade would have used it in the Pain Invasion) and snakes don't too (Orochimaru was pretty much their "master" and he didn't used it either). I think it would get repetitive that way, but there could be more Sennin besides Jiraya and Naruto; like Minato (should have been one)...

I believe Minato would have been able to become a Sennin as well, but remember, he was already too powerful without the senjutsu.

    Re: Summon Society

I think senjutsu is not exclusive to the toads it's just that we know more about the toads than other summons
do we even know the summons used in other hidden villages
Maybe the reason why those who fail to master senjutsu turn into toads at mt Myoboku is becoz they are trained to feel and absorb chakra the way toads do(especially if they use the toad oil like Jiraya and Naruto)
If Naruto had tried to use natured energy the hard way he might have entirely different traits in sage mode(at least no toad eyes)

    Re: Summon Society

when i mentioned senjutsu i meant an equivalent not actually senjutsu because it turns you into a toad so it obviously is unique to them. i guess oro techniques could be the snakes equivalent though whether they were created by man or by the snakes would mean they were just inspired by the snakes.

    Re: Summon Society

Not entirely true. There were some ninja cats (or tanuki?) that helped Sasuke out when he finished composing Taka. They lived in the Uchiha hideout and had an elder. Temari's summon wore clothing, wielded a weapon, and cast ninjutsu. All of Kakashi's dogs have clothing. I agree with what M3J said. The frogs get the most attention because of their relation to Naruto. Remember, there are a lot of hidden villages but Konoha gets the most details and attention because it's the main character's home. It's all about relevance.

    Re: Summon Society

i get that but kishi still told us about the other villages and the stuff we didn't know we could make general assumptions that they would be like the leaf or the sand and have just as much detail as them. if we did that here you would end up assuming all summons have a hierarchy, their own land, and their own special techniques which seems strange.

    Re: Summon Society

Senjutsu should be avalaible for every summon, it's simply adding natural energy into the usual physical and spiritual mix. It's probably something animals do naturally, to draw nature's energy and make massive jutsu. Big, old ans wise summon anyway.

As for clothes, jutsu and stuff, frogs have fingers, so they can craft cloth and perform seal. The same for Temari's ferret. For Kisame's sharks, Tsunade's slugs and Orochimaru's snake on the other hand, not quite so. Even Itachi's crows would have problems.

But there a more fundamental requirement to do senjutsu, you need a huge reserve of chakra to begin with. Orochimari with his endurance at 3.5/5 and Tsunade with her 4/5 may not quite make the cut. For 5/5 there are Gaara, Gai, Hidan, Jiraiya, Kisame, Naruto and Sasori, of which only Gai, Jiraiya, Kisame and Naruto are known to summon animals. Then there a training to go through which imply that you have some free time on your hands and that your summon trust you enough to teach you. Even if he had the chakra reserve, I don't see Manda teaching Orochimaru senjutsu.

    Re: Summon Society

I always wondered about Kakashi's dogs... where do they hang out?
A dog is high maintenance, a pack... can't even imagine hehe

And the Gates of Rashomon... what is their gaiden lol. Gotta upset the city if the infrastructure up and vanishes...

    Good fun topic anyway!

I would say Naruto is not a 5/5. Most likely he is a 20/5. Do you know any other shinobi who can summon an army of clones?/lol

    Re: Summon Society

but senjutsu turns you into a frog/toad. it wouldn't make sense for other animals to use it unless they had an equivalent.
