    Neji vs Kimimaro

this keeps the others ones nicely aligned

Neji is known for possessing the greatest potential and talent in the latest history of the Hyuuga clan, as such Neji is highly skilled for his age. While using the gentle fist style in combination with the Byakugan, Neji is extremely deadly in close combat and is highly efficient with his movement both in terms of defense and offence. His perception in battle is incredibly sharp and Neji also possesses one of the many ultimate defenses, Kaiten, and has many useful and deadly techniques that he can use for defense and offence.
this keeps the others ones nicely aligned

As a member of the Kaguya clan, Kimimaro possessed their rare bloodline, Shikotsumyaku. With it, he was able to manipulate the bones in his body to form weapons and create defenses through his many dances. His bloodline also appeared to give him some limited healing, as his bones and skin quickly regenerated from the damage done to them. In addition, Kimimaro holds the Earth Seal, giving him an increase in chakra and physical power. Kimimaro is skilled enough with his Cursed Seal that he can preform partial transformations. With his abilities, Kimimaro is well suited for close combat fighting. He has demonstrated impressive speed and dexterity to go alongside his taijutsu.

    Re: Neji vs Kimimaro

This is the hardest fight in the tournament IMO: bottom line is that Neji's Kaiton can penetrate Kimimaro's bone defense and strike his vital organs, killing him.

    Hmmm....

Rofl, amazing fight. Two taijutsu specialists, and two of the best at that.

I shall be watching this thread like a hawk for the different scenarios you guys come up with.

Why do you say neji is slower, Kimimaro never showed any amazing speed IIRC,

Also, Kimimaro's unpredictability is countered by Neji's byakugan, because he would be able to see the bones forming from inside his skin.

    Re: Neji vs Kimimaro

    data books and Lee

Kimmimaro could easily keep up with Lee and avoid Gaara's sand when he did not shoot waves at him while Neji likely can' do that though Neji won't need to keep up with Lee do to his eyes

the data books give Kimmi higher speed as well along with better taijutsu

honestly Neji can hurt Kimmi but that does not help if Kimmi's a better close combat fighter then him unpidicablty has nothing to do with it Kimmi's just better then Neji at close range

    Re: Neji vs Kimimaro

The reality is that Kimimaro would not even be in this "Lower Tier Bracket" had he not died due to his illness. And since he isn't going to be hindered by his illness in this tournament he should absolutely stomp everyone. He was Orochimaru's Sasuke long before Sasuke. Hand picked and groomed by Orochimaru for who knows how many years. Just overall far too strong to lose. Neji as "great" as he is still gets outclassed in every way by Kimimaro.

If you're looking at the databook on Narutopedia, then they have equal speed while Kimimaru has the superior Taijustu.

    Re: Neji vs Kimimaro

Stats are nothing, especially since some of those categories have never even been shown to applie to these characters in the actual manga. Such as Hand-Seals, Gen-Jutsu, Nin-Jutsu and etc. I believe these Databook stats should not even be brought up. Otherwise almost every single battle in this tournament could have been decided based off of them. Yet they are obviously faulty because most characters haven't demonstrated all of the categories that the numbers are based off of.

I agree that they're not the best way to determine fights, but I do think they are of some use. I think that since Neji and Kimi are given even stats in Speed that neither of them will have a significant advantage in that aspect, unless Kimimaro was shown to have a significant boost in speed when he uses the Curse Seal.

    Re: Neji vs Kimimaro

I'll give this one to Neji. He is one of the few who can hurt Kimi. Kimi's moves and different 'blind spot' bone attacks won't work against Byakugan's vision. Neji may have lacked the speed in part 1 to keep up, but I don't think he was terribly far - and by part 2 I think his base attributes at least would have improved enough to handle that.

It won't be an easy battle but as far as pure tai jutsu specialists go I still cannot see a victory against not just a Byakugan user, a trait that in my view makes for the best tai jutsu supplementary tecnique, but possibly the very best Byakugan user - both with exceptional physical and intelligence attributes, even aside from the blood trait.

    Re: Neji vs Kimimaro

I give this to Kimi purely on stamina.

Kimi could keep Neji at long range distances and tire him out. Kimi has shown to have much higher stamina than Neji so while hard to choose I think Kimi takes this.

    Re: Neji vs Kimimaro

Neji takes this, once Kimi is in range the gentlefist will make quick work of him. No chakra and no protection for his inner organs means goodbye Kimi.

Neji was born for this fight.

    Re: Neji vs Kimimaro

    Voted for Neji

But now that I think about it , Kimimaro was the better choice .

Due to the bone armor and all , Neji wont be able to stop Kimi's chakra flow . Most of Neji's attacks rely on him chipping in a small amount of damage multiple times till the combined damage starts to settle in . His OHKO moves on the other hand require some time [minimal coz of his speed but as we know they both fighters have nearly the same speed] . All in all , I think Neji is just gonna be cornered .

    Re: Neji vs Kimimaro

Bone armor gives Kimi the win...the speed gap is low, but Kidoumaru was able to protect himself from Neji's strikes with his golden plating...I can't honestly believe that his armor is worse than Kimimaro's bones.

---------- Post added at 04:12 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:03 PM ----------

This was able to block the Jyuuken...I can't imagine that this wouldn't be able to...and Kidoumaru pretty much did this as soon as he got attacked, just like Kimimaro did when getting crushed. Neji's pretty fast and has good defenses, so it won't be an easy fight (I think it's a lot harder for Kimimaro to beat Neji than to beat Lee), but if the argument was that Kimimaro's bones prevent Lee's Iron Fist style to hurt him extensively, and he can create bone masks under his skin to block Neji's Jyuuken style, then I think Kimimaro wins.

However! It's not as if he knows it before getting attacked, so I suppose Neji could get one hit in, but...I can't imagine Kimimaro not noticing after the first two strikes, and with the curse seal, I don't think his chakra would be completely blocked after 2 hits.
