Couldn't you compilate all of those images you did into one post, so I can find them easier? I didn't save the ones you did before, and it would be kinda troublesome to look through the whole topic looking for the other ones.

Re: Hunter X Hunter Anime- Fall 2011

I don't think Mousiehamster and Jam 1 are the same people, also what he said wasn't really a big deal.

all he said was that he thought Gon and Killua looked like eight year olds, and acted like them. I really don't see how they look like eight year olds, but like another poster mentioned, that children of the same age, (in things like middle school) have a wide variety of physical maturity. Also the same should go with mental maturity.

So I don't think we should tell him to drop the series because he didn't like one thing, Its up to him to decide if he likes it or not (he may come around or not), though I do consider their design similar to the manga (I haven't read the whole thing, so tell me if I'm wrong), so if he has a problem with the way they look in the anime, I think he should have problem with the way they look in the manga.

P.S. Its also an anime, and they can/should take some liberties in there direction (humor, seriousness, etc.), so that they can try to appeal to their target demographic, also its nice to have an anime that decides to switch things up, but is also faithful to the manga.

    1) I don't care for mules. Seriously, someone using it as a way to reinforce their arguments is just lame. I wont divulge any mule, but I'll know and the person will know. I just don't care how many mules it makes as long as it doesn't spam the hell out of this.

    2) I DO like other opinions that doesn't like this anime. Gives me perspective. In the same way I don't enforce people to justify why they like something, I wont be bothered if they just hate the series. BUT in both cases there is no point to even read it because there is nothing to say about it. Feeding both cases is useless and I encourage just ignore and keep your brains posting good arguments and finding interesting stuff.

    3) For any report, use the report button. It's for something THERE.

    4) Don't bitch about bitching. It's MORE annoying.
    The Sky is pouring
    The wind is blowing
    The sea looks red,
    a surging sea of flames
looks like the entrance to hell
    'Perfect', the captain said.

I don't see what the problem with me telling him to drop a series that he's already decided to hate.
We all know that for at least till they get past Chapter 341 Gon and Killua will remain the same age
and look young. I dunno maybe they'll look older in Greed Island or the Chimera Ant Arc.
But that's not going to be for a while anyways. Anywho it's pretty clear that he has decided
to just hate on the series and while that's fine he doesn't need to ruin it for everyone else.

But whatever. I'm just "bitching about bitching". So I'm done.

Re: Hunter X Hunter Anime- Fall 2011

It's just so absurd that someone whined about the 12 years old boys behaving their age.
Episode 27 follows very closely to the manga, especially the light hearted and the boy-adventure tone.
That's how togashi breeze through the beginning part of the heavens arena arc (as well as the greed island), there's humor, boys being boys, adventures, danger, challenges....because...duh! we have two young boys here out for adventures, what did that person expects?
What on earth was this user complaining about? Where on earth did he misunderstood this arc as some serious drama?
What does he have agsinst the author and the manga and how it was written? What was he imagining HxH to be?

I suspect some diehard fan of the 1999 series were so STUCK on the portrayal of the Yorknew arc, where the 1999 anime staff took massive artistic license to change HxH into some Hollywood noir thriller (which I didn't like at all) and Kurapika-centric. Is that why some 1999 anime-only HxH fans could only see HxH as some oh-so-dark serious gritty crime thriller? The 1999 anime was often really OFF in portraying HxH and its characters so I wouldn't surprise some 1999 series fans thought what they saw was canon, and actually disliked the actual light hearted and cult-humor from the manga. The new 2011 adaptation is closer to Togashi's intent than the old 199 series. I HATE the innocent (hence really annoying) Gon in the 1999 series, and forced moralistic stands the 1999 anime staff imposed on the series was really bothering me.

Telling the new anime production to quit is just so obnoxious. The world doesn't revolves around you fragile little ego.

I'm looking forward to the new take on Phantom Troupe, hopefully they'll be closer to the energy and humor of the manga, than the 1999 series. From what I've seen on the OP/ED, some of them are already a vast improvement just on physical looks alone: Bonolenov, Phinks, Pakunoda, Uvogin and Kuroro.

The way he talked about it earlier, it seems like he thinks that this adaptation is not accurate towards manga.

He obviously didn't really read the manga carefully...and mistakenly treated the 1999 series as absolute 'canon'

The 2011 series is adapting the manga, NOT the old anime series.
The new anime's Gon and Killua has similar body and face proportion as how Togashi drew them in later arcs in the manga: Greed Island and on. They are the same height too. The latest chapter (before hiatus) has Gon looking super cute and childish, like the new anime.

Yeah you are definitely on point. The early going of the HxH manga was rather inconsistent in the character designs, sometimes Gon would look really lanky then the next chapter short and cute, it was very inconsistent scale wise. But Togashi eventually settled into a standard for the characters, Gon in particular which is seen in the more recent chapters. For consistency Madhouse has decided to use the recent art style, which ultimately looks more modern compared to the scattershot aesthetics of the 1999 series which really were all over the place. I think Madhouse did the right thing and are focusing on the right characters (Gon and Killua). The entire direction is at an advantage as they know what lies ahead, that is what is so exciting about this adaptation to me.

Am I bad for thinking the Yorknew arc was kind of a mess in the manga and that 1999 did it a lot of favors? I mean to each there own I think, I've mostly only read NGL-to present chapters, but it never felt tonally that different from the rest of the series in bad way to me. I've since gone back and read several chapters here and there of the earlier arcs to get a feel for how different 1999 changed things (1999 series was how I was introduced to HxH and I can admit some changes are good some are bad changes I admit). I've noticed that Greed Island has a darker tone then 1999 which I like a lot more. Though I found Yorknew sort of a chore to get through some of its chapters, there's a ton of rigid bland paneled pages filled with talking head where Togashi literally cut and pastes the same images 2 sometimes 3 times on one page or over 4 times in a chapter.

    Examples: http://pic.tenmanga.com/comics/16378...ab78ad8cb6.jpg
Examples: http://pic.tenmanga.com/comics/16378...01a91f1869.jpg (Notice how he zooms in on a smaller drawing of Kurapika and it begins to blur) It's just a small hangup I have on this arc in the manga as a professionally trained artist that's made it hard for me to really read the arc in depth.

I really don't think Togashi came into his own artistically with Hunter until NGL, It's one of the reasons I guess I would love to get some insight on things that feel drastically different tonally in the Yorknew manga, from what I've noticed the 1999 series matched the pacing pretty close and not that many filler scenes are added.

I kind of want to see the new anime get pretty bold with its adaptation too, and would love to see it feel like watching a Christopher Nolan Batman film (If I was to reference something I'd like to see them draw inspiration from for it). Yorknew to me always kind of felt like manga's Gotham City. But maybe I have a distorted view on it? (I didn't notice anything jarringly different in what I've tried to read of Yorknew) If anyone with insight who's read the whole thing in the manga inform me of the major tonal changes I'd appreciate it. I will say I did notice the focus on Kurapika ramps up during Yorknew, but that sorta made sense to me since he is still the focal character from what I've seen during the manga version in that arc.

This being said I am really looking forward to getting an alternate anime retelling of what is my favorite shonen anime arc. I'm trying to go into it with as open mind as possible. I'd personally love to get some of the Zepile scenes that were cut from the anime (I really like that guy for some reason, seeing scenes like him and Leorio just palling around added would be great) I've been sorta worrying after they truncated the cooking phase of the Hunter Exam that Zepile/Auction chapters might be cut down to keep kids from getting bored. I mostly just hope we might get to see new things like what the 10 godfathers are like or something.

And if you have been watching the 2011 series DOES change Killua's appearance whenever he goes into bad ass mode. While normally
he's just a "cute" 12 year old kid just like Gon.

I mean can you really call THIS cute?

and even recently in the manga Killua isn't always "badass" looking even though he IS a bad ass

You know honestly, I don't mind the repeated images there. They add a bit of intensity to the situation.
