Hunter X Hunter Anime- Fall 2011

Must say that I liked a lot the way the titled the techniques in-battle. Felt a lot like a game. <3

I liked that a lot too, it made me feel like I was reading the manga for the first time again.

I felt the same. The way they showed nen in these chapters is really awesome. The sensation of "want next week to be now" that I usually only felt for the manga up until now is spreading to the anime for real ever since Heaven's Arena arc started. It's really a good thing for me ^^

Just watched the episode 29, it's fantastic.

Something about the new ED always pump you up and leave you wanting more (so hot-blooded!)
We just get to the good part and then "next time..." comes up.

I like how they have Wing mentioned the danger of going up 'naked' against a nen user and showed the three cripples, because that one line from Killua went over my head in the manga. So I actually had a realization "OH!!" (never put the two together). Those three handicaps weren't just gimmick handicap fighters, they were crippled to illustrate a point, and that just make their characters so much more interesting. And to think that i wondered 'why on earth they got thru the first 200s without using weapons'...duh they were normal pretty strong fighters to begin with. They were crippled as they got up to the 200s and probably struggled a lot to rebuilt who they are now, while developed a nasty bitterness and turned 'Tonba', and teamed up to inflict what was done to them onto newbies.

That's the dark streaks I like about Togashi, it's not in the face.

The 1999 series totally ruin these by changing them into fake handicaps, they were so stupid and blah in the old anime.

And i like that there's no 'heroic' and 'dramatic' soundtrack when the two boys walked passed Hisoka's nen attack.

Yeah I think the 1999 series all but ruined Gido, Sadaso, Riehlvelt.

There they were just the gimmicky villains of the day until the "good" fights.
And then to add insult to injury they change the order so that Hisoka vs Gon
is not the last fight and we get more fights with the trio that they made
us think didn't matter. Not saying the fights weren't entertaining in the 1999
series. But the story dynamic was sacrificed when they weren't handicapped
anymore. It's like they were just circus freaks.

Now they are like damaged warriors who just wanna "share the pain".

Dang. Heavens Arena is even darker than I first thought.
But I like how it's not in your face.

there's also a rather bitter side to it.

With nen these handicapped warriors are still formidable foes.
But in real life, without nen, what could they do?
It's sorta like nen makes "dreams come true"
Of course ironically it's what made them cripple in the first place.

Anyone remember Sadaso's shades in the 1999 version.
It was funny because they were making him look all cool and slick...

Whoa... I did not expect Gon's fight with Gido to look that awesome! It was pretty short but from the looks of it next week will continue the awesome. The addition of text displaying the attack's name was cool, reminded me of Yu Yu Hakusho xD. I'd prefer it if it were a little smaller though, it was kind of in the way. Nen was awesome and I really liked how it looked like steam. Ten on the other hand didn't look so great in my opinion.

Lately every new Hunter x Hunter episode has left me wanting more. Maybe it's because the pace has slowed down a bit? Though the pacing is pretty good though, considering the anime is an adaptation of a manga that's frequently on hiatus.

And I'm lovin Hisoka's look in this arc! I'm really glad they kept the ball-waist. His best outfit in my opion, and also the most magician-like.

Another great episode as equal as the previous one!



The 200th floor trio were awesome looking and they kept their handicaps. I liked Riehlvelt's wheels design.


As described by Gon, Nen's aura looks like steam. So I guess the breeze sound effect is an appropriate choice.



As you can see here, they've changed Hisoka's nen color from the gray of the preview to pink like what we saw in the opening.



Here, I liked how they used captions to tell us the names of the abilities and I thought "Yes, they won't shout their attack names!"... until Gido does that... and I checked, he did the same in the manga.

I read somewhere that Ten is not of their taste. I wonder why actually, I think it's good when it's not that distracting and more if you consider later that they have yet to show Ren. Ten looking like a glow is exactly how I pictured when I firstly read the manga.

MONSTER TRUCK WHEELCHAIR TIME! is what I thought when I saw it :P It's pretty damn boss. The technique text during the Gido fight was awesome to me. That was the highlight of the episode to me. I like how Ten looks in this episode (though I still prefer 1999's weird nen noises over steam noise), though I hope we see more unique colors to Hatsu (judging from the next time preview seems like it). That Eva Unit/Wing screenshot comparison, hmm is that just a coincidence? Oh also, the shots of geniuses who awakened to Nen was so cool!



Also, I always loved this job agency woman's character design. And yet again she looks fabulous.

You're not the only one. Damn I love the portrayal of Riehlvelt, Gido and Sadaso here. They give of the rookie crusher vibe of Tonpa but with the in ring skills to back it up. All of them appear to be legitimate threats to Gon and Killua regardless of their disabilities and that is how it should be. These guys went through hell to learn Nen and become stronger fighters, sacrificed life and limb (literally limb haha), you know they aren't just going to be filler fights (unlike 99 series...). They should be seen as a threat to Gon and Killua and I applaud to Madhouse for maintaining their disabilities, I feel that Madhouse have really solidified now that there will not be unnecessary censorship. Bring on the fights!

Usually I grab a guest pass and go
but with the premium membership bug
I have a complimentary membership for the time being

The reason I don't buy a membership is because HxH and Naruto
are really the only two shows I watch on CR and I rather
save my money for the dubbed version.
