The mug shot of Machi has been posted up on the hunter x hunter website.

Even their beloved York Shin actually is censored compared to the manga.
Yes, it's likely still more violent than the 2011 series thus far but Yorkshin is NOT
the blood crazed anime arc that 1999 fans try to make it out to be.

It's NOT MD Geist. (Of course MD Geist is seinen. Which is probably why it kicks so much ass.)

And manga fans...we got to learn to have realistic expectations.

However that said I would like to see more Canary vs the 100 thugs level of
blood in the 2011 anime. If they did it then they should be able to do it again. I think.
The level of blood has actually dropped since then. Though it could be because
they are trying to make Heavens Arena more light hearted and not so focused on
the gore. It could possibly be more to do the directors artistic vision then actual
censorship. Not saying it ISN'T' censorship but it's a possibility. Besides it looks
like 32 will be a little bit more bloody than 31.

    all that aside.

Machi sure can rock the pink hair look!

Not sure if I like the sky blue scrunchie on that hot magenta pink hair combination. Dark grey would have been cooler...

The double standard and insistence of Hxh being a seinen series boggles my mind
They put the 1999 series so high up on the pedestal that they blatantly ignore the fair shares of censorships and omission it has.
How ironic that most of them were probably kiddies too when the first series came around.

Many can't see beyond bright colors vs dark color palette. They see it as a standard instead of a preference, and completely turn a blind eye to the actual fun, humorous and wacky tone of the manga. They believe that the Hollywood thriller wannabe serious 1999 series truly represented HxH. It could be some deep seeded biased against femininity also but I just don't know they came off like as if bright colors/light/cuter tone equals bad.

I do! I'm loving the look. Really makes her stand out more. IMO she wasn't the most exciting looking from the 1999 version.

The best from the 1999 version I would say are

    1. Pakunoda
    2. Uvogin
    3. Franklin
    4. Feitan
    5. Hisoka

Everyone else looked plain or just not that interesting.

Even Chrollo looked rather plain which is an accomplishment in a sense since in the manga he's one of the strangest looking of them all!
Not strange in the obvious way of Bonolenov or Coltopi. 1999 series could do that much just fine. But in the "There's something off about this guy" way.
Though maybe it has to do with how Togashi was kinda bad with drawing Chrollo's nose. :/

I also dislike it when people try to convince others as well as themselves that Hunter x Hunter is a very "mature" series. It does push some boundaries, but it's still a shonen series and the fact that it is able to appeal to multiple age demographics is why I love the series. I love the fun, wackyness and adventure of the series and at the same time how it can be very thought-provoking and philosophical.

It sort of reminds me of those early DBZ fansubs which had the characters constatnly swearing in an attempt to make the series "mature" and "adult"

I had no idea about those fansubs.
I notice this too, I wonder if some of these fanboys are so insecure because of the stigma of 'geeks' and 'anime' that they wanted to prove so much that 'anime isn't kiddie stuff', so they tend to overcompensate by exaggerating the work as "actually really really dark/grown-up/mature/badass/gory.' Agree on the appeal of HxH, they shouldn't gloss over the boys adventure aspect of the series that is...VERY shounen.

I agree. Machi's new character design is great, and there's something about her eyes that just look so mesmerizing.

That's probably why people deem and label hxh as "mature" to some extent, simply because not all shounen's go quite as deep in terms of plot, which in my opinion makes hxh stand out compared to other series. And I always lmao whenever these fansubs have that but at the same time I smh, but seriously what you just said were my thoughts exactly, and I salute you.

The mug shot of Machi has been posted up on the hunter x hunter website.

Machi will be voiced by Maeda Rena. She's...relatively new, only really being in anime from the last two years, and most of her roles in 2011 were like background characters such as Girl A and stuff, so it's hard to tell how she'll do in this role.

Ah, I see. She's a model, which explains her lack of anime roles.

...Does anyone even care or pay attention to this? The Voice actor thing?

I do. A still can't find who are the voice actors for Gido and Sadaso. They are not mentioned in ANN or Hunterpedia.

Kastro's voice actor turned out to be Tokuyoshi Kawashima.

Re: Hunter X Hunter Anime- Fall 2011

I don't see why people think that in order to be mature there needs to be extreme violence...
For one, don't you realise that Hunter x Hunter is a shonen series not a seinen?
For two, don't you realise that the 99 series was much more censored than the 2011 series?
For three, don't you realise that Hunter x Hunter is mature, but not because of the violence, but because of it's themes, deep plot, philosophy and thought provoking material? Having a hundred guys blown up doesn't = mature, the people who say it does just prove how immature THEY ARE.
Hunter x Hunter is mature in many ways, but it is always grounded firmly in it's shonen roots and there is not a damn thing wrong with that.

    Spread the word!
In Claymore they show blood all the time, but they didn't show any drip of blood when Teresa got her hands cut off,
    or when she got decapitated.

Actually those people are nitpicking the lack of realism, they say that you can't cut off a hand without blood, and they claim that the old series was more realistic, and that's why they love it more.

But anyway that's not the truth.

^ I've always found it funny how in manga/anime (as well as in some comics) cuts and slashes always manage to make enormous amounts of blood gush out. More rule of cool rather than the laws of gravity

I think this might be his voice actor: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/ency...e.php?id=50440

I'm basing this on the fact that the voice seemed familiar to me.

Kubo Tite would most likely ignore this kind of feedback
