I don't see Ichigo staying in the living world with his powers back. If you look back and just what Aizan did with his reistu, then should be the same case for Ichigo.
Ichigo with his powers back even tho he wouldn't want to hurt people in the living world would be more of a danger in the world of the living because of his power, the same reason why the captains have to have limiters put on them.

Ikkaku doesn't want to be vice captain let alone captain if it means leaving 11th squad.the only way ikkaku is moving up in rank is if Yachiru gets promoted to captain of another squad(my vote is fifth squad so the joke on omake 31 about her standing in heaven can be even funnier) which would be so cool and funny I would die laughing.

It is quite obvious renji was wrong right there, ikkaku has nothing even vaguely resembling captain power even with bankai. He could not even fight a measly fraccion. Poo might have been by far the strongest fraccion but if ikkaku had had a fraction of the power most captains have shown he would have at least been able to hold his own against poo's resurreccion (komamura obviously did not need bankai to win and was able to throw poo's 10 ton or more body).

I do wonder what the badge on his arm means since it clearly is not a VC badge nor the symbol on it corresponds to any division.

Well,it was said in the discussion thread I dunno who mentioned it but the tatoo on his arm resembles the word "Dragon" which might relate to his Bankai.

As for Ichigo being a captain of SS,I highly doubt it.Though anything's possible and I guess I wouldn't be too surprised.Problem is,if Ichigo gets captain he'll get tons of mission that will seem like fillers.

Re: Ichigo: A Captain of SS

If Ikkaku is ever going to be a captain, it will be ultimately Kenpachi who convinces him to take one of the empty slots. Ikkaku would be furious at first, but after a good beating from Kenpachi, he accepts it. Reason why he would want Ikkaku to become a captain is so that he can grow stronger so that one day Ikkaku will ultimately surpass him. Kenpachi would hate it if Ikkaku was holding himself back for Kenpachi's sake. So for that reason, he beats some sense into him.

In fact, I think it would be one of the most emotional fights in Bleach, ever. Kenpachi will put up a cold act making it seem he doesn't care about Ikkaku anymore and wants him out of his division. So they have a fight to decide Ikkaku's position. If he wins, Kenpachi will let him stay. If he loses, he'll take one of the empty captain spots.

You have just described one of the most common and IMHO least creative character advancement devices used in shonen manga for secondary characters...I would hate Ikkaku's resolve to stay on in the eleventh cheapened by sth like that....the first hint that its a bad idea is that it sounds exactly like sth kubo would write!!!!

Which is why because Kubo is writing it, it would definitely go that route. And besides, when you consider the characters' personalities, it fits. So it is absolutely in character. If you've got a better idea, I'm all ears.

Re: Ichigo: A Captain of SS

We have seen that 2 of the 3 captain spots have been taken in the flashback about returning Ichigo's powers, and we have seen Ikkaku is currently not a captain in the current time frame.. The last spot might be taken as well already, we don't know just yet.

If it's empty, I suspect it'll be one hell of a promotion that will not be off panelled... If Ikkaku got promoted, then it'd be best with a short flash back, I honestly don't think he's getting the spot at this rate although I had anticipated it before we saw 2 of the spots had already been taken and that he wasn't one of them..

So, who is the 3rd captain, or who will it be...? I don't think it'll be "anyone", because it seems that Kubo showed the 2 taken spots literally without faces on purpose while hiding the 3rd completely... The 3rd seems highly special, regardless if he's already promoted, or spot is empty and someone special will be promoted soon.

Not gonna say it's Ichigo, but I start to think more and more that this 3rd captain spot or future captain is somehow really important.

Well, I guess we'll atleast see the two of the captains as soon Ichigo reaches Soul Society, think it'll happen when the fullbringer situation is under control again.
Doubt the captains will just leave Ichigo behind after all they did to help him, regardless if he's recruited or not, I think they will bring him back to SS, and something bigger will be revealed... Really looking forward to it if this happens, and hoping for a big surprise followed with an Isshin flashback. Then, I hope the 3rd captain will be promoted, whoever it is

Re: Ichigo: A Captain of SS

I believe IF Ichigo goes into the gotei 13 it won't be as a captain yet, he will have to learn under Kenpachi to remove the emotions that weaken him when he fights and then there's kido...it would be carnage like renji but on a higher scale.

He may become a captain learn about the responsibilities and then have a squad in the human world returning to SS when needed. (before anyone says i know its very unlikely)

Your opinion is fully justified and I get that you like madarame and want to see him go up the ranks but kenpachi doesn't show that much concern for the rest of his crew.he will just as soon slice them if they are in his way.remember in SS even when Ichigo beat madarame all kenpachi cared about was if ichigo was a worthy opponent for him.I think madarame's place is under kenpachi since kenpachi will always be stronger whether or not Ikkaku has bankai

Re: Ichigo: A Captain of SS

True, but it would be good development on both of their parts. Kenpachi's motive for nominating him as Captain is pretty obvious. He wants Ikkaku to grow stronger one day just so he can get a good fight out of him one day. On the other side, it would show a different side of him. A side that makes him look like a father to Ikkaku (even if he didn't intend to, funny enough). Besides, we all know that Kenpachi hates fighters who are always holding back.

Re: Ichigo: A Captain of SS

It doesn't make sense. Ichigo is type of character that it doesn't becomes a politic person. He does everything as He wants and I believe that there are many other shinigamis that can become captain lie Hisagi and Kira.

Re: [FEATURED] Ichigo: A Captain of SS

Continuing the topic from the chapter discussion, do people think the current situation really is a Captain evaluation? Ichigo has pretty much fulfilled the requirements, but considering he lost his powers the current three present Captains might be evaluating the extent of his newly obtained powers. While the Captain Commander being present is a requirement, they could be recording this somehow for him to see later. Ichigo's power should be unquestionable at this point having shattered the pocket dimension by merely releasing his Bankai, but is it really a plot option? Would Kubo really go for a plot with Ichigo as a Captain? To be honest I don't think he would. A Captain role pretty much ruins Ichigo's free will attitude (like when he went into HM) and chains him to a role of more responsibility. I could see Ichigo becoming a Captain in the future when Bleach's plot has ended and he settles down in SS, but doubt it will happen until the main plot is over.

Re: [FEATURED] Ichigo: A Captain of SS

^You bring up a very good point. Ichigo as of now, probably wouldn't fit into the story as a Captain. But the three Captains 'observing' (or rather not intervening) his fight makes it fishy...
From the Captain Commander's POV, he could try to make Ichigo one. He's a powerlevel of almost Yamamoto (no idea, really) and it's safer for Soul Society to have him working for them for real. But then, I'm not sure if Yamamoto wants a Captain Greenhorn to command a division. I think that Ichigo is mature enough now, but I really don't think he knows enough about Soul Society. And I'm not sure he would carry out every order given to him, we know how cruel SS can be. But again, it's not like our Captains don't do things their way (SS arc).
And then there's Kenpachi who just doesn't give a damn But he wasn't offered the position.

Oh, anyway, if they're there to offer him the position, I think he won't say yes. Even though I could see him leaving the nakama (Inoue, Chad etc), not his sisters. Maybe if he has no choice, e.g. that his body was destroyed when he regained his powers.
