    Confused 夕暮れ vs. 夜

I hope this is the right place for this...

Anyway, I'm currently translating something that uses both 夕暮れ (yuugure) and 夜 (yoru) in relation to each other. The problem is that I'm not sure what the difference between them is supposed to be. They both denote evening/nighttime, though 夕暮れ seems often connected with the twilight hours.

    Here's the problem:

On one page, a girl is snooping around and notices that "it's already nighttime" (もう夕暮れ).
Three pages later, in the same scene, a boy enters the room and the girl says "I didn't think you'd be back until evening" (夜まで帰って来ないハズじゃ).

Is there a difference between the two words? Would 夕暮れ be better equated as "it's gotten dark" (ie. the sun has just set)?

    Re: 夕暮れ vs. 夜

夕暮れ---> at dusk, when it starts to get dark or when the sun sets
夜---> at night, when it is already dark

When you have problems like this, you may want to try different JP-ENG (和英辞書) + JP-JP dictionaries (国語辞典).
