    Re: Your Own Hatsu!

    Name: Inhibitions Out
    Type: Enhancement
Summary: When drunk, the user's strength and speed are increased, as well as their nen flow.

[/b]Commentary:[/b] Very much inspider by Chu from YuYu Hakusho, whose fighting style is inspired by the Drunken Fist style of fighting (only, like Rock Lee, taken more literally). The downsides to using this technique are all the same as being drunk for real (slower response time, loss of balance, t'rific hangover), though in this character's case, he has learnt to somewhat overcome the first two of these. Not the hangover part.

This technique's used, perhaps, by a Gourmet Hunter who scours the world for the best liquor.

    Name: Flights of Fancy
Type: Specialisation primarily, Conjuration, Manipulation, Emission
Summary: By making physical contact with a target, the user relieves them of all pain they're feeling. This relief lasts as long as the user is making physical contact with them. (Note: the relief felt is only psychological; it does not heal them in any way). The relieved pain is also transferred to the user.

When the user relieves a target's pain, a nen beast is Conjured that takes the form of a swallow. The user can Manipulate this swallow freely, though his control over it, and range at which it remains Conjured and under his control are limited by his only having 60%/80% efficiency in Emission and Manipulation respectively. If the user breaks physical contact with the target, the swallow dissipates.

If the user successfully flies the swallow into a second target, that target feels pain equal to the pain that the user relieved from the first target. (Note: again, the pain felt is purely psychological. It causes no other physical harm, though the shock or alarm the target might feel upon receiving the "pain" may provide a useful opening for an attack.)

Woop, I've posted 31 different Hatsu!

    Re: Your Own Hatsu!

I like the name "Cannonballistics" lol.

    Anyway, here's a hatsu I thought of:

"Pants on Fire" (Pinocchio's Plight) - Manipulation type.

Sharpens your senses so you can detect with high accuracy whether or not the other person is telling the truth by observing their body language, speech patterns, background or chosen words.

A counter is tallied against you for each person you scrutinize with this ability and does not reset when "Pants On Fire" is deactivated. The counter increases more for the more important inquiries (eg. where thousands of lives depend on the information, ~ 1 million points) and little for the minor ones (eg. finding out if your girlfriend really likes your casseroles, ~ 2 points).

When the counter reaches the maximum value (the user will know when this approaches as his hands will turn red), the user is manipulated by his own ability and is forced to provide all information truthfully to any questioning parties for one week, before the gauge is reset. This would of course put the user in an extremely vulnerable situation, therefore there are ways to avoid this.

The following acts will lower the gauge:

    1) Burn possessions. For about each 100 Jenny the destroyed items are worth, the gauge is lowered by one point. Not ideal for paying off very serious inquiries unless you are rich.

    2) Admit past lies, wrongdoings or abuse of trust. Of course, the transgressions which would result in more serious repercussions would lower the gauge more (eg. cheating on your current spouse ~ 5000 pts....exact value depends on how vengeful your partner is; embezzlement of an astronomical sum of money ~ 10 million pts etc.).

    3) Answer questions truthfully. This is probably the easiest method (you'll be able to pick which questions to answer truthfully to) but this also means that the gauge will be lowered very slowly.

    Re: Your Own Hatsu!

Finally I came up with a new nen-ability:

    Imposter's Check (Specialization)

You imbue a check with your nen. You write an amount of money you can afford, and you sign the check. Then you give it to someone who's willing to spend your money. When even a dollar of the money from that check gets turned to cash, that's when the ability gets activated. Any amount used on that check will of course be deducted from an actual, real, legit bank account you own.

What's the ability? Well, you steal the identity of the guy who originally received your check! Your appearance will transform so that you and that guy will be virtually indistinguishable from each other! You will also gain access to every memory and skill that guy has! Even nen abilities, if that guy was a nen-user! You, however, retain whatever memory and skill you have when this ability is active.

The duration of the identity theft depends on how much you wrote on the check.

    1,000,000 below: 1 day
    1,000,001 above: 2 days

You can't revert to your original form when the identity theft is active. You can, however, cancel the ability when it's active.

When the activation time is over, access to everything you learned about the target will be denied. Of course, if you recorded facts about the target that you deem important, you won't lose them anymore...

There's a cooldown time equal to how long the ability was active. So if you used the ability for 1 whole day, you can't use it for 1 whole day afterwards.

You can only give 1 check at any time.

Also, you can keep on trying to steal the identity of a target as long as that target keeps on receiving your check and spending your money.

It's quite useful and cool but...Did you think on the versatility of it? Not everyone even LIKES check.

Yep, some people would like to directly get the cash immediately. Well, I guess the fictional user prefers using checks.

Versatility-wise it could be potent. I guess the user would hang around people who use checks. The ones who would use checks are probably the ones the fictional user would deem worth copying. He could use the ability to frame some evil bigwig who might or might not use nen. Plus, if the user wants to, he could have a nen-using partner to whom he could reveal his ability and use it to prepare for a huge battle.

I would suggest that be more stuff. I mean, the "action" of sharing something to someone allow you to do the same effect. But that may radically change the technique, so I said nothing

    Re: Your Own Hatsu!

I like Imposter's Check. You could totally steal back the money you have them, or at least spend it. Transforming into someone could be used for any number of things.

    Name: Room Full of Mirrors
    Type: Conjuration, Manipulation
Summary: The user can conjure a nen space when using En. Everyone within his En, himself included, is transported to the nen space. The space takes the shape of a large labyrinth whose walls and ceilings are made of mirrors. Upon conjuring the nen space, the user is transported to the centre of the labyrinth and everyone else is transported to its entrance. The centre of the labyrinth resembles a fighting arena (like the ones found at Heaven's Arena).

The nen space will be deconjured (and everyone in it transported back to where they were when it was conjured) if any of the following conditions are met:

-the user chooses to deconjure it
-the user is beaten in a fight
-the user is knocked out or otherwise incapactitated
    -the user is killed
-all the walls and ceilings of the labyrinth are destroyed

The labyrinth is very complex, but its walls and ceiling have the same fragility as real glass walls (so they can easily broken, especially by a nen user).

However, any glass within the labyrinth that is broken falls under the following Manipulation command: follow the one who broke the glass until they reach the centre of the labyrinth.

Upon reaching the centre of the labyrinth (ie. the arena where the user is waiting), the glass falls under the command of the user. The only limit to how he can control the glass is his own skill at Manipulation.

Commentary: Basically, targets can take their time making their way through the labyrinth OR they can smash their way through to the centre, but in the latter case, the user will have more glass at their disposal when he fights. Hope all that makes sense.

Do you think this would be a better technique for a Conjurer or a Manipulator? Could a Manipulator Conjure this nen space, do you think?

Well I'd love to hear about those changes though.

    @ Tame

IMO The most important thing in Imposter's check is the ability to access all of the target's memories though. That would make the facade flawless, and you'd have access to the target's life long after you finished the identity theft - f you cheat by writing details somewhere.

Well I think A guy from Specialization would fix the problem since that Hatsu is adjacent to both Manipulation and Materialization. That's my tendency when creating Hatsus though. I just get the Hatsu that's in the middle of the two Hatsus involved in the ability. Plus I think this ability needs a lot of training time unless you're an ant. So a Specialization guy who's into training would probably have no problem since that guy would train Man and Mat to high levels anyways.

Yeah, with their memories you could do anything they could for as long as you're them, and provided you write down important stuff, you can ruin their life for years to come lol. And yeah, I think you're right about Room Full of Mirrors - a Specialist would be best.

I just thought this one up instead of listening to my lecturer:

    Name: Seed of Wonder
    Type: Specialisation, Conjuration
Summary: User conjures a small seed. The user cannot Conjure more than one seed at a time. As long as it is about their person, the seed will slowly siphon off nen from them. The nen will be highly condensed, so the seed, despite potentially holding large quantities of nen within it, will not grow any larger.

By throwing the seed to the ground, all of the nen stored within the seed is released at once. A tree will immediately growly from the seed, and at the top of the tree, there will be a single, golden apple.

After its initial emergence, the tree will never grow any taller, nor will it bear any more fruit, but it will remain.

When someone takes the first bite from the apple, a weapon will be Conjured before them. After the first bite, it turns into a normal apple (which happens to be golden). The type of weapon that is Conjured, and the special abilities it will be imbued with will depend on the person who takes the bite, and it will reflect their personality. That weapon then belongs to them and can only be used by them (including Conjured or deconjuring it).

The size and strength of the tree, the tastiness of the apple and the awesomeness of the weapon are all proportional to the amount of nen the seed contained within it at the time of release; after a few days the tree will be little more than a sapling and the conjured weapon will be basically useless; after a few months the tree will be larger, but the weapon still not very good.

Basically, the strength of the weapon will be roughly equal to the strength of a similar, hypothetical weapon that a nen user has spent an amount of time developing equal to the amount of time the seed was siphoning off nen from its user. So if you let the seed grow for decades, then when you release it the resulting weapon should be totally awesome.

    Re: Your Own Hatsu!

    Assassin's Lace (Transformation)

The user shapes her (yep, the fictional user this time is a woman) aura into a very thin lace that has very sharp edges. Its length and hardness can vary. The user can also create multiple laces around her, from any point of her aura's surface. The user can also remove the sharpness of the lace.

The user can also imbue the lace or her aura itself with "slipperiness".

The slipperiness gives a lot of defensive and offensive options to the straightforward lace. The user can trip people with it, and the slipperiness on her aura takes a lot out of power on attacks the user would receive, if she positions her body properly.

The lace itself is inspired by a long white cloth female martial artists use as a weapon in some martial arts movies and TV series.

    Assassin's Veil (Materialization)

A support Hatsu for the Assassin's Lace. This is just a materialized white cloth. Its length and width can be adjusted by the user.

It can also be imbued with the "slipperiness" property.

The Veil can also transform into Assassin's Lace.

Its purpose is to confuse opponents. The Veil surrounds and opponent in a wall-like manner and the user hides behind them, weaving in and out, striking with the Assassin's Lace. Since this is materialized, the user can make it appear and disappear at strategic times.

The Nen-App In is used a lot in conjunction with these two abilities.

    Re: Your Own Hatsu!

It kinda works as the Lion Ant, so it's not something that different. But well, my suggestion is to just replace to check by money in general.

Makes sense, since the user just "imbues the check with nen" he could probably do it on ordinary cash too.

Seed of Wonder is pretty cool. It kinda works like Goodbye New Year except more flexible in purpose, I think. At first I thought it was some kind of Kurama plant-manipulation ability.

Pretty perceptive; when I first envisioned Seed of Wonder, it worked something like Kurama's Seed of the Death Plant. But I couldn't iron out the details to make it a practical ability and it ended up evolving into what I posted here.

I've been thinking of plant abilities too but everything seems to sound like Kurama or Yusop or Jack (from Mar)'s abilities. It's hard to think of plant abilities IMO.

    Re: Your Own Hatsu!

It's been a long time since anyone posted anything new. I guess it makes sense because of the hiatus and all. Was hoping someone could give me some feedback on this hatsu.

    Character - Noa
a hunter who studied psychology at university before giving it up to become a hunter. The two passions, adventure and psychology, kind of became intertwined for him.

    Soothsayer/Rioter (Manipulation, Emission, Specialization?)
The ability is a form of manipulating a person, but without them realizing that they are being manipulated (I guess it's similar to Illumi's needles).

Noa, within a 20 meter radius, can affect people's emotions and state of mind in one of two ways. The first is to reduce certain emotions they are feeling. If someone is starting to get angry with him, he can activate his ability to somewhat suppress/reduce the person's anger.

The other ability is rioting which allows him to make a person feel an emotion they are already feeling to a much stronger degree. For example, a person tells an offensive joke that people dislike, but would usually just laugh off. If the ability is activated, Noa can "riot" their emotions so they feel incredibly offended and angry.

Obviously there is a range limit, but the more important restriction is that whoever he is affecting can tell their emotions are being manipulated if the rioting or soothing is drastic. So, the technique requires a great understanding of people and how much they can be pushed without coming to the conclusion that someone is controlling them.

Just an interesting, non-combat ability that I thought would be kind of neat. Any thoughts?
