That is a lot. Steam says I've put 334 hours in(which I consider to be a lot!). And I bought it the day it came out for PC and have started many character,s played around with mods, and all kinds of fun stuff.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------

What brought me to this thread though is that Dawnguard finally got released on PC and man do I love it. It's so much more than I expected it to be.

I expected more of an Oblivion DLC experience a few sub-par liner quest lines, some new gear, and that's basically it. What I got was probably one of the most fun quests in the game. Most of which is very character driven, which is very uncharacteristic for Bethesda but I like it. Then on top of that there is stuff that isn't even really realated to Dawnguard. Stuff like the face sculptor, the polish work they did on werewolves(which are still sort of rough but better than they were), and some other quests.

I feel like Bethesda has finally redeemed themselves from their semi-hilarious Oblivion DLC screw-jobs(horse armor)

Yeah, I like the DLC as well...but right now I'm just skimming through it, on the vampire killer side, to see how it works....I'm getting some random CTDs though, which I haven't gotten until now....I guess it might be some conflicts with some of the mods, or just good ol' Bethesda crashes...

I'm waiting for a good mod SkyRe - Skyrim Redone to be up to date with dawnguard...and then I'll give a go to the vampire side...

Yeah it's probably a mod conflict. I've gotten no desktop crashes but I uninstalled a bunch of mods because I found that I liked the vanilla experience Dawnguard brought to the table so much.

The only ones I kept were some texture mods, and some companion mods. I even uninstalled SkyUI(which I kinda miss every-time I open a shop menu, so that one might get reinstalled)

I had my wizard character go the mage route and my warrior/archer go the Dawnguard route. Seemed to me like the Dawngaurd side has a lot more features. The crafting upgrades, the Dawnguard super-weapons, and the Dawnguard anti-undead spells are so powerful.

It seems like the Vampire side is pretty light on features by comparison.

I uninstalled all my texture mods, and decided to go with almost max vanilla settings...and the game runs much better...especially Markarth, and Riften...but I have the realistic lighting mod, which really improves on the feel of the game...

And about characters...I kinda have only one character...a mainly archer, but proefficient in any other style character...it's level 70 or 80...when I decide not to follow the archery path, I just reset my perks and change my appearance a bit...that's why the facechanger is not that much of a big deal to me...it's a good addition to the Guild, but I just pop up my console and change everything from there...

Anyways Dawnguard...I haven't encountered any super weapons yet...aether weapons or something? I dunno...I haven't played that much, since I decided to play some Batman...

What mods do you use btw?

PS: speaking of mods...witcher 2 devs will be releasing mod toolkit

I've trimed down my list a good bit since I started playing dawnguard but but specific mods(from Nexus) I currently use are.

    Companion Mods
    • Spouse Custom Home (Which does what it says basically. So you can set the location of their default home.)
    • My Home is your Home(Which basically does what spouse custom home does except with followers.)
    • UFO (Ultimate Follower Overhaul. Though honestly Serana's AI is good enough to get by without it. Though it does other things to like allow you to see followers lvls and stats)

    Graphical Mods.
    • Official high res texture pack.
    • The unofficial patch for the high res texture pack.
    • Shadow Striping fix.
    • The Cinematic lighting mod
    • WATER(a high res water retexture)

Player Home Mods(neither of which I actually use. I'm kinda partial to the house in Windhelm.)
    • Riverside lodge (It's just so cool looking with it's old school nordic sauna)
    • Pinewoods cottage (useful because it has a chest that can be accessed through a spell)

I also have a bunch of armor mods and mark and recall.

I've tried tons of other stuff too but I'm always looking to keep a balance going; where I don't really want to install anything that fundamentally changes the experience or have something in there that interrupts the sense of immersion. So I find myself sticking to the vanilla resources more and more.

    And my 2 characters are...

A lvl 49 Breton mage who has ever school of magic up to 100 with all master spells learned and every single stat point into magicka(a true glass cannon)

A lvl 39 Nord Warrior/Archer. Focused on archery, one handed weapons, and smiting

    -------------------------------------------

As for the superweapons I'm referring to I was mainly talking about the stuff you can get by doing non-storyline quests for the dawnguard. The priest of arkay you can recruit randomly gives you missions where you chase down ancient dawnguard artifacts.(a war axe, a shield, and a hammer); all of which have powerful undead smiting abilities.

Then the crossbow lady gives you missions where you can learn to craft 2 tiers of crossbows and bolts for them.

    Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Ahh nice...didn't know that about Dawnguard...although it's more like I've been doing other quests besides Dawnguard....

Personally about mods....I like the ones that make the game harder, a lot harder...I've already completed the vanilla skyrim, and I have to say killing dragons and monsters is just too easy...

So I have Deadly Dragons, Mighty Dragons, Dragons Diversified, Dragon Lords as mods for improving dragons....then I have SkyTest for harder creatures and better AI and also have PISE, but I'm not using them together, because both alter enemy AI, and I'm not sure how they conflict with each other...

I have lots of weapons and armor packs, even custom races....but another mod that I'm in love with is the Black Sacrament mod, which is a bit overpowered for the vanilla game in every possible sense of the word, but for an upgraded game is very cool....it has a player home, adds a ninja-like armor set, has some of the game artifacts in store, and gives you a very powerful spell...I think it's worth trying out...I just love the outfits...

And finally SkyRe for a complete rehaul of skyrim...races, classes, perks...everything...

I have some other mods too, but I have too many...sometimes I spend more hours modding the game then playing it

Btw....here's a short compatibility list....mods compatible with Dawnguard

    Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

I started playing again. I started an orsimer - heavy warrior - two handed specialist. I do quests I missed & I enjoy the game again playing completely differently (my previous character was a coward-invoker). I forgot how rich this game is. I don't even need dawnguard, I still have enough content.

I'm not using mods. I like to play the game as it was intended.

    Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

I'm to broke. It's basically a matter of the DLC or Borderlands 2, and I choose Borderlands 2. I want the DLC more for Dragon weapons than anything else.

I have two characters: first an Imperial (level 50ish) focused on archery and one handed, I started a second game as a Breton (level 20ish) with conjuration, destruction, and one handed focus.

Great game, as addictive as reputation holds. The game is so fun much fun to play I don't always notice it's faults, some of which are actually glaring:
    • Leveling works very well early in the game, at a certain point characters become too powerful. My Imperial is basically unstoppable in melee combat.
    • The puzzles are too repetitive and easy. Once you've figured out the dragonclaw and animal puzzles there really are few mental challenges.
    • Quests are repetitive: fetch this, deliver that, or kill someone quests with little variation.
    • Factions are too easy to join. My Imperial has yet to cast a spell, but somehow was admitted to the College of Winterhold and became Archmage. The game would be greatly improved if some experience was needed to join factions, with the exception of the Companions. The Companions would make sense as the faction for noobs, as a quest line to learn basic combat skills and boost experience.
    • There should be a limit on how many factions you can join. Becoming Harbringer of the Companions, a Nightingale, Listener, and Archmage of Winterhold strains believability a little.
That being said, the game is immersive, so much fun, so well written, and so detailed it's hard to notice. And once the flaws are noticed, they are easy to ignore. My favorite questline is Thieves Guild, if anyone is wondering. Nightingale Armor is bad ass.

Hearthfire? I think it's a bit useless for me as I am playing on PC...I've had custom player houses since forever? If you're talking about Dawnguard...well I started it, but then I switched to swtor, so no Skyrim for me until I finish at least 3 storylines in Swtor...
