Gantz Creator Hiroya Oku Wants to End Manga in 2012 (?)

Hello guys, sorry if some of you are already aware of this information but I thought it's worth sharing with the members:

    http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news...-manga-in-2012

    Quote Quote:
In the authors' notes section for next year's combined 6th/7th issue of Shueisha's Young Jump magazine, Hiroya Oku wrote that he wants to draw the ending for his Gantz manga in 2012. The magazine issue's official release date is January 4.

The manga follows a young Tokyo man who is reanimated after a deadly subway accident. Kei and other resurrected people go on violent, seemingly endless missions at the behest of an unseen host.

Oku launched the manga in Young Jump in 2000, and the 33rd compiled book volume will ship in Japan next month. The "Final Phase" of the manga began in 2009. The manga inspired a television anime series animated by Gonzo (and released by ADV Films in North America) and two live-action films (released by NEW PEOPLE Entertainment). Dark Horse Comics released the 20th English volume of the manga in North America this month.

I am not sure if Oku really means it though. What I really hope is that the manga doesn't finish with a vague ending like the anime.

(The questions about Gantz are still torturing our minds and I thought lately that the gantz ball is merely a time machine and I searched about this subject but I see this theory still doesn't explain a lot of stuffs...)

Noooo... that would be like... what... 20-30 Chapters to the end...?

I hope this is meant like back then when Masashi Kishimoto said, he's "making the end" or something...

^ I agree! If he really wants to end it this year, there are not many chapters left... I hope the ending is not shitty and rushed! If some characters are going to die, I hope in an epic and fantastic way! And we still need some good answers!

It would be a rush job if he ended it now. I don't see it happening.

I agree, but in the other hand the battle against the giants is taking more than two years now... So unless Oku comes with a whole new enemy, I think this might be the last battle in Gantz.

^ This has to be the last battle/mission in Gantz, or else it'll be like Oku killing his own story for dragging it. At least, we're getting progress with the 'last mission' when Kei1, among others, were transferred to the sort-of the main battlefield.

However, it's as if Oku is prolonging Kei2 and the other Gantz members' fight against the non-human-esque type of aliens.

Gantz is a monthly or bi-monthly release?

theres no way he can warp the entire story up in 24 to 12 issues.

^ last year it came out bi-weekly, long time before it there were times when it appeared weekly ... as i remember right.
i hope they will release it again more often, than now, then it could be ended in this year with all open questions answered..

I wish this could be said for Berserk.

Considering how long Berserk has to go, "ending it" would probably mean suicide.
