Well he had some gender problems here and there, but he started out as a male...I guess...I nominate Orochimaru for this category...may Rikudou Sennin bless his soul, wherever it is...

I nominate Pain. (as in Nagato via Yahiko and not Nagato or Yahiko alone ^^)
His speeches were awesome and he fought the best fights in the whole manga.

Can't decide between Itachi, Jiraiya, and Kakashi. All three died like true ninjas, and they add/ed a lot to the manga. Itachi added seriousness and intelligence with some fear; Jiraiya added awesome humor with some intelligence; Kakashi added epicness, seriousness, intelligence, and humor.

Itachi owned Kakashi and would have owned Jiraiya though.

jiraiya - his death had the most impact out of any imo and he pretty much made naruto who he is.

I'm joining in on the Jiraya nomination. His character was the perfect blend of the extremely silly and comical as well as being serious and wise when the occasion called for it. The way these two extremes were joined in Jiraya in such a natural and perfect way is what made his character the greatest, imo. A phenomenally written character.

Im going with Minato because he owned raikage, killerbee, and tobi(with absolutely no info on him at all). No one can troll the Yondaime. Period.

Minato - how can you not love him . For starters, he was a great visionary. A genius among geniuses. Sacrificed himself and his family for the sake of his village. He has the best design in Naruto...for me that is.

I would go with Minato.
It was tough, but I would choose him. His life was difficult, but just when it got better the disaster happened in his life, but he managed to make a difficult manly choise to at least save his son.
