Maybe like, aristocrat and rebel, in some stories... But I admit, we don't get that much often in shoujo. Maybe the topic is too political?

I don't have too much Shoujo on my reading/watching list, but I'd say that things where the female lead is thrown into high society due to marriage or some other reason makes for a good story with tons of issues to work out. Something like Reimei no Arcana comes to mind, or even Vampire Knight.

I have to give a shout out to 5cm/sec out of respect though, I haven't actually seen long distance be an issue the way it was in there.
