Those of us who live outside of Japan have a limited variety of manga, manhwa, and light novels available in our countries. I'd like to know, what titles would you be willing to spend money on if they existed in your language? As opposed to relying on things like scanlations.
For me it would be...
-Any of the Ryohgo Narita Light Novels (Baccano!, Durarara!!, VAMP!)
-History's Storngest Diciple Kenichi
My top 3 license requests are Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou, Kokou no Hito and Vinland Saga. Also, all of Mitsuru Adachi's works. I'm not holding my breath though....
American editions of Yokomhama (Vertical) and Vinland Saga (Kodansha USA) could reasonably be expected. I am not so sure about Kouko no Hito given VIZ's apparent aversion to Young Jump.
I would love if VIZ put out US editions of Noramimi and Freesia. New editions of Blame! from Kodansha or Vertical would also be nice. The top of my list for unlicensed manga would be Chihayafuru but I would not be surprised if it is licensed soon.
I already spend money on One Piece every so often, but I'm going to buy Shingeki no Kyojin when it comes out. Plus I buy the Vagabond VIZBig editions because they're beautiful! And I'd love to buy Rookies, Beshari Gurashi, or anything else Murata has ever done (major fanboy). And of course I Am A Hero if it ever comes out.
MajinTantei Nougami Neuro. T___T The last I heard VizMedia wanted to "test out" the readership by airing the gawd-awful anime adaption. I would buy all 23 volumes in a heartbeat, seriously!
Beelzebub, but fat chance of that happening unless they edit out Baby Beel's genitalia. =/
Also either Ubel Blatt or Genshiken Nidaime, the sequel of Genshiken. Ubel Blatt especially because the color pages must look so much better in print, in my opinion.
I'd probably spend money on manhwa since I usually get the Japanese tankobon anyway. It's good that English publishers have a nice selection of manhwa available in print.
I'd like to buy Bride of the Water God, Totally Captivated and Model when I'm not broke.
I'm just hoping for my personal licensing requests :
- Qwaser of Stigmata (Vertical)
- Zettai Shoujo Senki Amnesian (Yen Press)
In the french side :
- Qwaser of Stigmata (to be re-edited by Kazé Manga)
I just spend the last couple hours scouring the Internet and online Japanese websites for either the novel or manga version of Akaki Tsuki no Mawaru Kono. At this point, I'm really tempted to just buy them online from halfway across the world even though it wouldn't be translated. Doesn't matter! I still get to see the pretty pictures and it will keep me occupied while I'm trying to decipher the text DX
For me it's Onani Master Kurosawa. I would love to have it in my hands instead of in my pc.
Wow theres so many manga Id want to buy, but for light novels, Id definitely want
- Tokyo Ravens
- My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU
- Zetsuen no Tempest
- Super Lovers
- Assassination Classroom
I'd love to see some series licensed so that they'd get more attention since I can read Japanese. (To an extent anyway.)
-Pretty much anything Fukuchi drew past the first law of Ueki (they were all so short too..)
-Nejimaki Kagyu (Never gonna happen though.)
-Traumeister (See above.)
-Yuuyami Tokkoutai by Oshikiri Rensuke (Actually has anything of his ever been licensed?)
-Gintama past volume 24
-The Kaiji series (as unlikely as they are.)
I'd also like to see the Jinrui Sutai Shimashita light novels out here. Oh and the Ginpachi sensei ones. Sadly my Japanese isn't good enough to read novels.
I'd buy any of the above if they were licensed, even if I already owned the Japanese versions. (I did it for HXH and Gintama after all.)
Manga I want to buy but not available in my country are Again and Kangoku Gakuen.
Also, even it avaliable in my country, but I want to collect Aku no Hana original version(not sure it would be whole series or just my favorite volumes) since this manga probably one of the best manga I've ever read. it's totally worth more than just translation version.
Berserk, Gigantomakhia, History's Storngest Disciple Kenichi, Death Note and Dendrobates.
All You Need is Kill (Only waiting print version)
Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches
Sket Dance (This one is hopeless )
