as i remember, the reason the war started is because the Martian inhabitants who was left in the Martian plane after the mundus magicus collapsed wanted to survive that's why the war started, or something along the line. so if my memory is correct, then there will be no reason to declare a war since the MM was saved by the plans of negi, and because the plan to terraform mars is a collaboration from the earth and MM, the people who are supposed to declare a war will not have their enemy anymore.well, just an idea.

Or he could have simply "officially died" to avoid more attention to his ageless state. There's only so much those pills can co, after all.
And, of course, Chao could have been created through scientific mean, like cloning. 2135 people!

Yes the depletion of magic was inevitable in that timeline, but the war was caused because Old world Humans were invading Mars.

I'm pretty sure "Chiusama" is right . . . Negi terraformed Mars, so the humans who living on Mundus Magicus when it collapsed and revealed Mars didn't have any reason to go to war. Or at least, that's what I'm thinking.

@fg7dragon: Negi at least aged until he was 20, it seems. He stopped aging after that. So if you mean to say he may have tried to use the pills to look older than 20 when the need presented itself, so that he wouldn't raise suspicions towards his ageless self, then I agree with you.

Theres a reference to Aliens on the last page in the top left corner. Its the ship Ripley was picked up in at the beginning of the film. I think thats quite clever.

Yeah, I definitely agree with about the sequel. There are way too many unanswered questions. I just hope the main character is still Negi, and not his son or some other descendent of his.

While it pains me to say this, it's doubtful that Akamatsu will make a sequel. I's simply not his style.
In the off chance he does, the future will be different then the one Asuna saw since her presence in the past will change things, like Chao did.

He obviously won't. Sorry to tell you people, but even thinking that he would is not knowing not only the author but the manga either. Negima can't be continued, it would completely ruin the story. This is the end, and we will just have to live with it. Nothing lasts forever. I just hope the last chapters reply at least some of the unanswered questions we have been reading about.

Well, I don't know about lasting for ever, but with other manga series such as Detective Conan having 800+ chapters you can't blame us wanting more.

One possibility is there only ever was one timeline, those in the future simply needed to do what they did to ensure the timeline doesn't change (Chao going back in time and also lying about a bad future, fake gravestone and message from Iincho that go according to Asuna's memories. Though the only real reason I can think of for the fake out stone and audio recording would be to make Asuna very serious about fighting whoever it was that would kill Negi). Though it could be that the date on the gravestone is in fact the time that Asuna needs to travel back to in order to prevent Negi from dying, so that would be when he died if not for her.

Okay, so they make her serious about fighting this person. Then when what happens when she finds out that Negi isn't dead? The reason for her seriousness and resolve would disappear into thin air, wouldn't it? That's the only problem I have with what you said. But if Asuna is given a good reason as to why Negi would have to fake his death, she might go along with it and help him out. Like, since he'd always look 20 no matter how old he got, it could get suspicious if people noticed it. If there's a guy like that, who doesn't age anymore, and also won't die of old age, then that's a situation that's bound to raise eyebrows. If he needed to fake his death for that, it'd be understandable, and Asuna might also go along with it. So if this is the case, the grave is empty and the real Negi is off hiding somewhere. Chao and Eva have come to bring Asuna to where Negi is.

But yeah, if Negi really died, Asuna has to go back in time and save him. But to be able to use Casseopea to make such a huge time jump (depending on how big of a jump it is (130 years is a bit too big, but when exactly did Negi die, according to that gravestone?), they'll need to go to a place with an abundance of magical energy, like how they were using that tree (what's the name of it again?) to power up the Casseopea (how do you spell this, anyway?).

Edit: I missed up there and ended up trying to reply directly to the one of the past posts . . . I'll find the post and put the quotation tags in later.

Anyway, Xdanx and Fg7dragon, I'm not sure how much of the story can be covered in just 3 chapters, and how many questions and plot-points can be covered in that short amount of space that's left. So that we can have some closure on this series, Akamatsu needs to do a sequel.

It's really heartbreaking seeing that even after Asuna kept her old personality,
she can't meet anyone she knew because they're all dead already...

I'm hoping for at least some kind of happy end.

I personally think they'll use Chao's time machine to bring her back in time, and we have a "happy ending" with her back with her friends. Still no resolution though on Negi's father under the world tree

Tons of things still have no resolution, not just that. And please read past posts before posting yourself; others have said those same things many times already.
