"Aizen-pocalypse"
"Kubo Title"
Oh I see what you did there..yo ho ho
Wha? Mangastream got hit by VIZ? I didn't have a clue..thanks for the heads up..That and I didn't know the previous polls went so in depth..You go above and beyond the average reviewer
Anyway, I have a couple of comments about the review and its respective chapter. For one, I'll start off by saying I'm all for Bleach ending. I'm glad that I/we know that an ending will be on the horizon over Shonen Jump up and pulling the plug on a series that I've enjoyed for about five years now.
They say all good things must come to an end, and knowing that the end is ahead, I expect Kubo to throw all of the cards out on the table. One of Bleach's better qualities is its air of mystery and opening the doors to the mysteries that surround Bleach is something I'm looking forward to the series ending on. But that's just me
A lot of the feedback towards the chapter was cut and dry, but it carried a lot. For one, we're looking at a time-based crisis that reminds me of Majora's Mask. Knowing that something catastrophic is bound to happen within a few days, there is absolutely no time to waste. That and, I've mentioned this before, but I totally saw Kubo revealing Mayuri's new look with a color spread, lol. That and I wanted him to flat out look like Freeza! After all, they're practically the same character, with the same seiyuu, etc. but that's another topic entirely.
When the "them" was brought up, the Quincy was almost immediately brought to mind. The color spread kind of confirmed where I was going with that, but the usage of hollow bait and what seemed to be Quincy robes in the shadows all point in that direction.
Still, I don't see the Quincy being the final villains. I could honestly see them being the spark that ignites the Soul King and his/its Royal Guard having to step in, Isshin's past being revealed, Ryuuken's purpose in the story revealed, the possibility of Vasto Lordes being (properly) reintroduced leaving the door open for Hueco Mundo characters to reemerge, and everything else that has been left opened.
From what I can tell, the Shinigami outpower the Quincy and in anticipation for some very, very, powerful foes for the Gotei 13 to face, it would only make sense for the Royal Guard members to fill that roll, right?
I'm going to skip the majority of the chapter because to even look back on most of the "development" would be an insult to my intelligence. Seriously. It's as if these characters were designed for the purpose of getting their asses handed to them.
That and why would you send rookies to arguably their worst case scenario as far as exterminating hollows go? That led me to thinking/hoping that Kubo would explore other parts of the world..Picture a Menos rivaling the size of say the Statue of Liberty
Anyway, it was refreshing to see some huge hollow. Moreover, I believe hollows of that magnitude could only be attracted thanks to that hollow bait. Or maybe the events in Hueco Mundo through everything out of order? Still the possibility of a Gotei 13 equivalent in Hueco Mundo is an awesome possibility.
I don't have too much to say aside from the fact that while I think Ichigo's new look is awesome, I could do without his slight smugness. After all, this was the same punk that was literally CRYING once he lost his temporary powers. I mean, your own father had to tell you to man up back in the Fake Karakura Town..what more does it take? I mean its bad enough your the main protagonist that's not even the most popular character of your own series
That and his expression on the Shonen Jump cover shows that he isn't taking the news of Bleach ending very well, lol. That and I'm loving the new section, but I have to warn you that I see some frustration on your end in the future. If it isn't another possible series of 20+ chapter titles in a row (Deicide, anyone?), then it could be the blatantly engrish titles that Kubo doesn't bother looking over.
Still, this was a pretty good way to kick things off..thanks again for the review!
