    Chapter 4 was stupendous, incredibly intense and heart felt. Gaku is quickly becoming one of my favorite current series.

    Aside the "mountain" theme, everything is different.
    Which not necessarily means that is bad. For now, it has been a great series.

    They do not have very much in common. Gaku is about mountain rescue, rather than the sport of mountain climbing. Rather than being about conquering the mountain, Gaku is about saving people who the mountain defeated.

    It's definitely not slice of life, the story follows a mountain rescue team as they respond to emergencies. There is a lot of humor to the story but chapters can get quite grim, at times.
