How does one go from Btooom! to La Vie in Doll. Unfortunately one of the rather duller looking series getting an treatment pv like this.

SoTaku is Love | Team Haikyuu!! | Team Hi-Fi Cluster | Team Food Wars!

Any impressions on Alpha Centauri Doubutsen and its potential as a series?

Ouch Jump Kai. You've really taken a dive in the circulation numbers...
    2013: 34,000 copies
    2014: 18,000 copies

    (from Shueisha's 2014 Media Guide)

Shaman King Flowers is basically keeping that magazine afloat right now. Let's hope that series continues to do better (and get a Shaman King anime) to get those magazine sales up!

Also from the 2014 Media Guide, I've translated that section for those who are interested:
That huge Hiroyuki Takei fan, who's has been around for a long, long time....

I'm kind of just hoping that the entire magazine gets canned, and SKF gets switched to Jump SQ so it can get a bit more attention.

Woah. Those are really disappointing numbers for the mag. The ones I am interested in are Flowers, Winners Circle, La Vie En Doll and the Alpha Centauri Doubutsen twoshot. Anything else worthwhile in it?

Would it? Flowers manga already sells more than the magazine circulation number so its highly likely a lot of people arent reading it in the magazine. Additionally, in another mag it could get overshadowed by the other popular manga in Jump SQ. I dont think it would necessarily get as much colour pages, covers, ad pages and etc there.

most magazines doesn't sell enough to cover their cost but this sounds ridculous?! its like the staff themselves only buys the magazine. to bad because i would like to read winners circle.

    Re: Jump X (Shueisha)

Jump X is kind of an odd sell, so I can get why it's failed. Grand Jump, Ultra Jump and Young Jump cover enough of the spread that it looked like X was aiming for, and most of those do more than good enough in comparison to this mag. It's so... pointless.

I don't see how this is ridiculous at all. Is not like this is the only magazine with this numbers. Morning 2 has a circulation of 19k and runs Saint Young Men, Ikki circulation of 10k and runs Dorohedoro, Sunday GX 19k and runs Black Lagoon and Monthly Spirits 19k and I don't even know any title from that magazine.
Yep, those magazines are in the end of the food chain, but even if it seems strange they survive for years and years, and I'm almost certain they in some way or another provide profit. Certainly the authors and editors from those magazines receive less money, the distribution and production costs are fewer, the percentage of copies returned are fewer as well(given that they don't appear in every store in great quantity). Given all that and the profit they do from advertisement, copies sold and the sales of their titles volumes it should be enough to balance everything and get profits.

    Re: Jump X (Shueisha)

Actually, I think these "low" numbers for magazine circulation don't really have to do with popularity. To complete Bigivelfhq's post, I'd add that compared to all magazines by Shueisha, Jump X is the one that has the best quality as far as printing goes. It's pretty hard to tell as far as public raws are concerned but the printing quality is actually better than the printing quality of most tankoubons in Japan. Sunday GX is the same too, it has a fixed circulation of 19,000 units that almost never changes and has series that sell more than 100,000 units each time a volume gets out. I think this is most likely a choice since most Japanese people consume manga in tanks anyway...

    Re: Jump X (Shueisha)

I'm not really surprise, the magazine never was a "success" and get even worse lately, I Just hope that Shaman King Flowers go to Jump Square, or even better, for Young Jump and turn a weekly manga, but i think that is more easy for Ultra Jump since that is where Jumbor is published.
