    Jump X (Shueisha)

What do you think of this magazine? Besides Shaman King, which is it's flagship (perhaps like Fullmetal Alchemist was in GanGan) I think it have some other intereseting series, but my japanese is very limited so i can't read most of them.
Do you know of some group scanlating or translating it's other series? Do you read them? What do you think of this kind of experimental magazine?
Also, someone knows if in 2ch or another page are some kind of TOC for it? I0m really curious on how it's managed this mag.

There aren't enough page for Jump Kai in 2ch (there's only one); futhermore, there isn't even much discussion going on in the Jump Kai thread. So, I think the ToC will not be uploaded for this magazine.

Also, do seinen magazines in Shueisha follows same ToC system as Shueisha shonen magazines?

You're right, I confused that detail with Saikyo Jump.

    Re: Jump Kai

In terms of ToC, Jump Kai does it a bit differently. There is the "Lineup" which contains all of the author's comments which is on the back cover. And then there is the ToC on the last page. Both keep the order of what's in the magazine. So you can figure out the order of the series from either one.

If you want to see the "Lineup" from issue 5 (SKZ chapter 1) you can see it right here on the full spread of the cover: http://www.mankin-trad.net/read/zero-chapter-1/

If there is an interest for the ToC/lineup for the issues, I can include those in future Shaman King Zero/Shaman King Flowers releases. Though we are really focusing on just doing Jump Kai cover spreads if Shaman King is on the cover. (We buy all of our own raws)

Also, if I were to take a guess... Jump Kai's staff is based around some parts of the original JumpSQ staff. One way to fact-check that is to find the staff listing for an older JumpSQ magazine or a couple other ones. The "JumpX Staff List" is at the bottom of the ToC, which could be compared to other magazines. I bet when the same people move from magazine to magazine, they'll take a bit how rankings work too.

(Also, don't forget that Takei is doing Jumbor in Ultra Jump, which is it's other flagship, outside of Jojo right now.)

    Re: Jump Kai

Not to be rude to fans but I do not know as Shaman King Zero was intended as Jump X's flagship series. Lest anyone forget Nodame Cantobile mangaka Ninomiya Tomoko's new serialization, 87 Clockers, is in Jump X. Shaman King at it's peak was never close to as popular as Nodame Cantobile, one of the most popular manga in Japan over the last ten years.

The title of the magazine is Jump X, not Jump Kai. Kai is used to represent Roman letter X. The "X" in Jump X represents a mathematical variable because Jump X does not have an assigned demographic. Shueisha refers to it as a "pure manga magazine that's beyond the boundaries of gender and age." blending Shounen, Seinen, and Shoujo/Josei. Jump X is most definitely not a seinen magazine though.

Here is the website for Jump X: http://jumpx.jp/

---------- Post added at 02:20 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:09 PM ----------

There are some very talented mangaka serialized in Jump X, it is a shame the magazine gets so little attention. NISHIJIMA Daisuke (Dien Bien Phu), TSUTSUI Tetsuya (Manhole), RENDA Hitori (Ousama Game), Youkihi (Nemureru Hoshi), NEMU Youko (3AM Dangerous Zone), and more. I think Shueisha intends for Jump X to compete with "hipster" magazines like Big Comic Spirits and Feel Young.

I've read the first chapter of H.E., very promising but not enough to form a real opinion. I've also read the first two chapters of 87 Clockers, also very good.

    Re: Jump X (Shueisha)

Yeah, I know Shaman King wasn't supposed to be their flagship, but somehow it's the image we get from it from outside Japan in my opinion. But I was actually interested on some others by the kind of things Kaiten just said: people like Ninomiya and Nishijima Daisuke are working in this magazine, they're not noobs and I'm curious about them.

However, Shaman King has become Jump X's flagship series. When SKZ started, its magazine sales increased, and it actually sold out their first print. So, the name value for Shaman King is much stronger than the other mangakas in Jump X.

    Re: Jump X (Shueisha)

This is what I could get for the current issue (Vol. 9), based on some crossed posts along a lot of japanese blogs, 2ch and some scans and news:

    The Great ShuRaRa-Bon c1
    Watashi wa Rikyuu c9
    Nou Kare c6
    Shaman King 0-zero- c5 END
I Wanna go to Art School c9
    Winners Circle e Youkoso c8
    Oshitai Moshiagemasu c9
    Iinari Gohan c5
    Inu Naki c9
    Poponepo The Crime King c9
Greece Shinwa Gekijou: Kamigami to Hitobito no Hibi c9
    Koibumi Fubuki c1
    Tonari no Occhan c1
    Ball Meets Girl c4
    Mahou Shufu Magical Myu c9
H・E The HUNT for ENERGY c6
    Odd-Eye Shonen c7
    Border c9
    Kanome wa Pompadour c9
    Young,Alive,in Love c3
    Renai Hannou c9
    Mitsuami no Kamisama c7
    Once Again! c9

Possibly some things are wrong, plus I don't know about series left, like 87CLOCKERS, since they are irregular and I'm not sure if they're pressent in this issue.

A manga adaptation of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag was announced to premiere in the September issue of Jump X magazine. The art will be done by Kenji Ooiwa (Welcome to the N.H.K., Goth) and written by novelist Takashi Yano (Sengoku Basara 3: Date Masamune no Shou).

    Re: Jump X (Shueisha)

Shaman King Flowers contract appears to be very similar to his Jumbor contract. Basically he draws 10 chapter (40 pages each) a year. So with 12 issues a year, per magazine, he sometimes takes a month off. Other times he splits his chapters into two, with 19-20 pages each, so there isn't a break. Instead of increasing to a full 11 or 12 chapters a year, Takei often writes oneshots or works on other projects during his "off months" since it's probably more profitable for a unique venture.

Ultimo is wrapping itself up, but yeah, bi-monthly.

And back on topic.... Nice to see a videogame tie-in for Jump Kai! I always flip through the other series in the Jump Kai issue just to see what's coming (and I wish other groups would pick up some of those series!).
