How will Sasuke end by the end of the manga?

With Naruto, we already know the few options left:
dies with Sasuke or becomes Hokage and/or becomes the ten-tail JinchuurikislashNew Rikudou Sennin.
Sasuke, on the countrary, has many options left open for him, since he has a much wider range of choices:
will he be redempted, and return to Konoha? Will he be redempted, but follow his own path? Will he die, cleaning the Uchiha's name? Or he will go on a killing spree, fighting against Naruto for all of their lifes? Will he take the refugees from oto, and become the new head there? Will he go alone?, Will he go with Taka?
Or will Kishi troll all of Naruto's fans, and made him hokage while offing Naruto?

Let's take them one by one:

Redempted, he will return to Konoha

The happy ending, the ones that a lot of people would like to see, Sasuke seeing the light, going back to the village, facing hardships and trust issue and, finally, cleansing the Uchiha name doing what his brother wanted him to do, protect Konoha.
He would be the head ANBU, being the personal and strongest warrior of Naruto, and he would marry Sakura/Karin, and everything would end well.
Personally, it is an ending I wouldn't mind too much to see, but it is far from the ending I would want:
I personally don't see Sasuke as a Konoha and Naruto lapdog, I don't see Sasuke returning to a village that despises him, and I don't see Kishi doing such a wishy-washy ending.
Its the good ending for everyone ( expecially Sakura and Naruto ) except for Sasuke himself, and he would simply be nothing more than what the Uchiha were during the foundation, with the difference that the Hokage wouldn't be Hashirama but Naruto. And I really don't want Sasuke to pull a Vegeta, and saying, at the final battle "Naruto... You are the strongest!".
    No no no.

Redempted, he will wander alone/with Taka/anyone else

The ending I prefer the most.
Sasuke doesn't need Konoha, he needs a few loyal companions to travel with, doing good deeds by not taking the merit from it.
He would be a Ronin, and he would likely protect Konoha from the shadows, like Itachi did.
He wouldn't be all fluffy with Naruto and Konoha, but he would be ultimately good, and spend his life to truly and further reform and clean the Uchiha clan.
He would escape Sakura too, which is a great bonus in my eyes

He will die, redempted by death

The ending I believe is more likely, Sasuke dying to protect Naruto, finding redemption in death ( maybe gifting him with his Sharingans, enabling Naruto to awaken Rin'negan and seal the second coming of Rikudou ) and dying a shinobi's death.
He would clean the Uchiha's name, they will be remembered as a clan of heroes, and the world will be saved by other Sharingan abominations.
I don't particulary like this ending, mostly because I enjoy Sasuke as a character and after everything he went through I don't really want him to die, but, story-wise, it would be perfect for the main-character, since, through others death, Naruto grows the most. The only part which would make it unlikely is Naruto's own dream to save Sasuke, and Sasuke dying isn't akin to saving, imho.
It would be a bitter-sweet sort of ending, one the author would take if Naruto hadn't such an enormous fan-base.
Main characters do not die, and this I hope

He will go on a killing spree, fighting Naruto till the end

Ending foreshadowed in part 1, where Kakashi said that Naruto and Sasuke were destined to fight all their lifes, like Hashirama and Madara.
It would be the bad ending, an endless struggle for supremacy with Sasuke gone insane, and Naruto forced every time to fight him.
It would be an ending with much potential, since I actually like the relationship that Hashirama and Madara had, they hated the other, but also admired him, and we see a glimpse of it when only Naruto's word got through Sasuke, and convinced him to take Itachi's eyes.
That way they would continue to be equals, to be rivals, and to be the others motive for growing in strenght.
I wouldn't mind it much, and it would be a pretty open ending, endings that such great works always do:
everything remains the same, nothing goes unchanged, every fan can have the ending they like.

He will take all the refugees from Oto, and reform the village here

An unlikely ending, yet in recent chapters we saw that Sasuke is linked to Oto still, and will probably always be.
It would be a sort of good ending, Sasuke being what Naruto is, a kage, and loved by his subjects ( Oro was seen as a tyrant, and Sasuke as the one that freed them, Suigetsu made it so ), and with actually close ties with Naruto and Konoha, but not so much as being their lapdog.
He would be an equal, and will lead those who were wronged.
One of the endings I would like the most, it can be justified manga-wise ( Suigetsu freed a lot of prisoners, and Oto's standing is unknown ) but it would be not very likely:
the pair of Kages is Naruto and Gaara, it was accentuated by the Niidaime Mizukage when, seeing Naruto and Gaara, said "you make a fine pair".
They are the Jinchuurikis that were made kages, overcome their hate and become loved by the village.
Sasuke doesn't fit too much here, but hey, one can dream, right?

Kishi will troll Naruto's fandom and made him Hokage

Well, an ending which I personally wouldn't like, but that he can be easily done:
Naruto will sacrifice himself by freeing the world of the bijuus, so Sasuke would be Hokage by inhereting Naruto's wish, become the first Uchiha kage and spending his life by being what Naruto couldn't become, the greatest Kage of all times.
It would be the Sasuke perfect ending, but I actually don't see much an ending where the main character dies and the main rival would take and accomplish all of the main's dreams.
If done well, it can be a good ending, and a Sasuke redeemed by Naruto's ultimate sacrifice would make a lot of sense.
But I don't think that Kishi would leave a message like that, unless he has balls of steel.
And seeing as he didn't kill off any major character in this war, I somewhat doubt it

that's an interesting thread, although the polls are a bit odd. anyway latest chapters really messed sasuke's situation: we knew from the beginning that itachi would end fighting naruto, and volume 58 strengthened that hypothesis. but these chapters may change him, although I hope itachi will die before redeeming sasuke, who in the end will be defeated by naruto.

IMO , Sasuke would die for his clan honor in a battle ( against Madara or Tobi ) ....

Sasuke is the one who still stand against those nonsenses ( Love no jutsu and Talk no jutsu ) , if he fall against these bullshits , that mean I wast my time in past years by reading bullshits .........

Re: How will Sasuke end by the end of the manga?

You know, I think this may be one of the few times where a character's fate in a manga is really up in the air. It could go either way and, in a sense, still make sense. I think of there's one thing Kishi planned, it was leaving us all confused.

I think one thing he did great was adding that little bit of humor between Sasuke and Itachi. I think it reminded us that he, still, quite human. It reminded us that maybe he can be redeemed. But who knows what he'll do when Itachi leaves him again.

I agree, he went from crazy-awesome-psychotic-badass to pouty little brother in an heartbeat.
The wonders that Itachi does lol.
That is one of the reasons which prompted me to open this thread, because Sasuke's future is left completely open

lol I somewhat agree with you, with I like about Sasuke is that he isn't someone who wastes time about talking, he gets the job done and that's all

I agree completely, Sasuke is one of the most human character in this manga.
I believe that, unless Kabutomaru somehow succeds in reseal Itachi, that his brother will begin his path to redemption by having a final speech. We saw that Sasuke is pretty stubborn, but who knows what the parting words from his brother would do to him

This is the problem I have with people calling Sasuke "emo". Normally, emo is an insult reserved for a person who's idea of dealing with pain is sitting alone and claiming no one understands them while they brood; cutting themselves and writing morbid poetry.

Sasuke on the other hand, sought out the one's who he deemed responsible for his pain and commensed killing the hell out of everything. He's not reactive. He's PROactive. "Hurt me and I hurt you, and the guy next to you." instead of "Hurt me and I'll go cry in the corner."

Call him a sadist or sociopath or psychopath, but one thing he doesn't do is sit around feeling sorry for himself. He makes OTHERS feel sorry for crossing him. That is so far from emo it's not even funny.

    /rant

Back on topic: The typical way for this to go down would be for Sasuke to die redeeming himself. But so many lost causes have been redeemed just by Naruto's talk-no-jutsu that it wouldn't be hard to see it work on Sasuke in the end, making him redeem himself by helping defeat the final enemy before disappearing. Maybe he dies, maybe not. Either way he'll definately be redeemed.

Re: How will Sasuke end by the end of the manga?

Sasuke redeeming himself through sacrifice(probably his death) seems about right to me.

I think him dying is the only way the wrap up the story with a conclusion that feels too forced and up until recently I never would have believed that Kishi would allow the ending to end up that way. During this war arc though.....Kishi has done a lot of things that I thought he would never do. So who knows?

    @ninjabot
The term "emo" has so many definitions at this point I don't think anybody even knows what it means. "Emo" is just shorthand for "emotional", and thanks to a particular brand of punk rock from the mid 80's that relied on strong emotional undertones the shorthand term become common. I'm pretty sure from there the term got associated with the punk rockers who enjoy that music(that horrible music....) Which is where that depressed punk connotation your associating with it comes from.

But the reality is the term applies to anything that takes emotions to extremes.

The derogatory term, as is often used to describe Sasuke, is essentially just referring to anyone or anything that becomes emotional to the point of melodrama. And I'd say, by that definition, he fit's the term fairly well. He does a lot of brooding and is prone to going to emotional extremes. Though to be honest I think "An emotionally unbalanced, self-obsessed, mild-psychotic" would be a far more accurate description.

He's probably the only revenge-oriented character specifically defined as emo due to it's derogatory connotations more than it's descriptive accuracy though. Even if there were characters who shed their emo exterior after a certain event (since I know that's the excuse that will be used once I start writing the list anyway, I'll avoid writing it).

^ You summed up my thoughts exactly.

And if Kyuubi, you know, the ball of hate and malevolence, and Nagato, the one who destroyed entire families and such can be redeemed, why not Sasuke? All he did was, after all, free the world from bad guys like Deidara and Danzou

Well Kishi ofter surprised us ( in more bad than good ), so that's why the most likely ending, like Sasuke's sacrifice for redemption is likely not to happen.

Theres a massive difference though. And its ridiculous if someone tries to justify Sasukes redemption on what two other characters seem to have done.

The Kyuubi was simply misunderstood and abused by humanity. He was a product of the great sage and should have been treated with respect etc. I mean the dude was just chillin in his mountain and Madara just thought it would be funny to have a giant pet fox.

Nagato was mislead, i suppose thats near enough the same as Sasuke. But Nagato had no one to try and stir him from the path of love and peace. Jiraiya was theyre teacher, but they felt abandoned when he left them, which he later comments on in theyre encounter. He was misguided and had Tobi as a teacher lol. He had no hope to look up to and no one really understood him at all. He was a self proclaimed god because he had "God's eyes".

Now Sasuke, he had plenty of people try to stir him from evil and vengeance. He had and still has a loving friend who has done nothing other than constantly chase him down to bring him back home. He chose the path he took knowing full well of the consequences.

The U-Turn by the kyuubi was a bit of a surprise but it is explainable, Nagatos U-Turn wasnt even sudden either and was perfectly understandable.

I guess what im trying to say is, Sasukes redemption better have a hell of a great story behind it. Condemning all those people just because your brother chose a certain path is unjustifiable. I want Sasuke to either die for what he believes in or die trying to achieve peace. Non of this redemption i love peace nonsense
Even if armed with hundreds of weapons...

well , as a reader , I still have problem with Nagato and QB . IMO those thing were bullshits .... I don't care if someone come and saying this is Story or Shounen or those characters aren't normal human , Because I think readers are humans ...

another problem is Naruto , Kishi saying if Naruto forgive you that is enough and if you are in Naruto's side , that mean you are good character .
but what about others victims (like Hanzo's children , Samurais and their families , peoples who get killed by Bijjus , and above all , what about Gara's victim and their family ) !?

Re: How will Sasuke end by the end of the manga?

Well it's going to be option 1 or 2 or a combination of both. Sasuke is going to be redeemed, the only question is how and what happens afterwards. After Itachi and Sasuke defeat Kabuto they're going to have their "chat". We'll finally learn about Madara's/Tobi's involvement in the demise of the Uchiha. Here, Sasuke will make the fateful choice: be a whiny (emo) bitch or come to a realization that will quell the anger of the last remaining Uchiha. The Uchiha will survive this ordeal so that means Sasuke will live. There has been way too much foresahadowing that Naruto will save Sasuke in some fashion. People who want a tragic ending are not going to get it. Naruto is not that type of story. If Sasuke chooses the whiny bitch route then that means Naruto and Sasuke will have to fight one last time so sense can be smashed into him. Many people want to see this happen, but it will be a harder sell to the readers, IMO. If Naruto and Sasuke were to join forces to defeat Tobi/Madara then the redemption sell is an easier task. Which route Kishi is going to take is unclear. Both are viable but both have issues that need resolving, but I thinking the 2nd choice is the easier path.

That just leaves what happens afterwards. Will Sasuke remain in the village or will team Taka go off on its own. The latest chapters suggest Sasuke reuniting/apologizing to his former team. Will they go off on their own or become a part of Konoha's extended family. Both Naruto and Sasuke could go on their separate journeys for redemption/soul searching/missonary work for the church of Naruto. There are plenty of options and we'll probably not get an answer until the final chapters.

indeed. it would be nasty if sasuke didn't fight naruto at the end of the manga. yet,if itachi didn't convince him it would mean their meeting his useless. the solution may be that itachi doesn't care in redeeming sasuke, because he counts on naruto and wants to watch a good fight

Yet you're right, and I believe Itachi talking with Sasuke is the first, vital step for it, like talking with his parents was for Naruto.
    His suns, remember?
What I don't see is Kishimoto killing off one of his main characters, let's take Harry Potter for example, did the trio died? No.
Why? Fans, fans clearly said Rowling that they would riot ( methaphorically of course ) if one of the three would die, and say Sasuke dies, a lot of fans would be disappointed, money would be lost, and everything.
Naruto is a moneymachine before being a manga, sadly

    Would they forgive him though?
    At least Karin

Itachi doesn't want to spoil our fun

I never said he's redeemed himself already. I said he WILL be redeemed. For example, if he's instrumental in the destruction/negation of Tsuki no Mei, then he will have literally saved millions (billions) of lives, making the paltry amount of samurai he killed a moot point. That's redemption. Or if he dies saving Naruto from Tobi or Madara so that he can win later. That's a form of redemption aswell. No, saving the world doesn't bring back the dead he killed, but no one's gonna throw stones at the guy that saved their ass. Or they shouldn't atleast.

Eitherway, screw all that "Kyuubi's just misunderstoond" bull. There's only so many decades you can be misunderstood before you just become downright irratable and bad regardless of your enemy's opinion of you. Not everyone on the whole planet had a personal vendetta against him, they just feared him. If you wanna take his side and say he was misunderstood, I can just as easily play devil's advocate and say "Can you prove Kurama ever tried to be nice to a human who was afraid of him? They were just misunderstood! They didn't hate him! They were just afraid!"

See how unbearably annoying that is?
