The legend surrounding the Rinnegan and Sasuke's ultimate role in the story.

Looking around the forum I can see that many people reading Naruto these days are all wondering what will ultimately happen to Sasuke at the end of the story. Seeing as Sasuke is by far my favorite character in the series the question has crossed my mind many times as well. I've had an idea forming in my mind for some time now, that ultimately Sasuke was going to be the one to take down Madara and save everybody and that this is how Sasuke is ultimately going to redeem himself. Then, about two weeks ago at this point, I was poking around Narutopedia, reading about the Rinnegan (among other things) when I came across the legend about the Rinnegan and it was like a light bulb went off in my head.

As many of you can probably recall, when the Rinnegan was first introduced, Jiraya claimed that it was a legendary dojutsu, a tool of the Heaven's that appeared in troubled times to put them to end either by acting as a 'God of Creation' or a 'Destroyer' who will reduce the world to nothing. This idea about the Rinnegan being a tool of the Heaven's is so important to the story that Kishimoto even repeats it in the Third Databook.

As we now know, Nagato's Rinnegan was artificially given to him by Madara and thus couldn't be the Rinnegan predicted by the legend and the same can be said for Madara's own Rinnegan, which he acheived by combining Hashirama Senju's DNA with his own (I presume he gave Nagato the Rinnegan by similar means). To me this means that neither of these Rinnegan can be the one "predicted" by the legend, and thus we are still waiting for the real Rinnegan to appear. My theory is that this Rinnegan will manifest itself in Sasuke.

I believe that at some point in the story Sasuke will awaken a Rinnegan of his own, one that isn't achieved through genetic manipulation or eye transplants, that will be the true tool of Heaven and that Sasuke will have to make the choice either to turn away from his hate and become a 'God of Creation' or to give in to it and become a 'Destroyer' who will wipe out the world. Sasuke is the only character in the story who has this choice and I believe it is one that he is ultimately going to have to make.

Disclaimer: I haven't read all of the posts in this forum (who could?!) or all of the others out there on the internet, and so if anyone else has already proposed this idea somewhere before me I apologize and credit goes to you.

Well, this can't lead to anything good!

good idea...but if you think about it...it really wouldn't be his rinnegan.it would be itachi's so to say...he has just had itachi's eyes implanted.so,at this moment he is just like nagato and madara...not their originals.

I have thought about that and there's no easy answer to it that I've come up with. The best answer I can give is that the Rinnegan consists of two parts; the "eyes" that were inherited by the older brother and the "body" that was inherited by the younger brother. Perhaps if Sasuke possesses the Kekkei Genkai for the Rinnegan in and of himself it doesn't matter whether the "eyes" he has are his own or not so long as they are still combined with his "body". Kind of like how Madara, not possessing the Rinnegan himself nor his brother having it, was still able to awaken it by combining Hashirama Senju's DNA with his own.

well you just kinda said it...there would have to be some introduction of senju/uzumaki dna.
dingdingding...karin...everytime sasuke bit her...we all know he's going to awaken rinnegan...and you may be right,by his own doing.
but,his eyes are just like nagato's,madara's and even tobi&kakashi...loaners

Oi! You completely missed the point I was trying to make!

I never thought about him biting Karin, though.

no i get what you're saying...but what i'm saying is that it was a given that he will eventually get the rinnegan(maybe through the"hate no justu"lol).since the moment madara said he unlocked his the way he did...it was a lock sasuke would do the same.he has to keep up with naruto somehow...and in the same instance this fight may just push him over the top.kabuto gives him experience against SM and maybe have him witness his brother's demise once again...ala hashirama vs madara(afterwards rinnegan is awakened).with karin's dna in him he could go straight rinnegan in his most dire moment

I believe it to be likely, even though I dread Sasuke with the Rin'negan, he would look way too ugly.
What I hope is Sasuke achieving that swirly doujutsu Rikudou's son had, it looks pretty neat, and it would differenciate Sasuke from all the other Uchihas as the one that truly unlocked their potential.

That swirling dojutsu is nothing less then the Rinnengan.

It's not the Rin'negan, at least in appareance. Ironically it looks like the Uzumaki's clan symbol

I wonder whether sasuke will acheive the rinnegan or will mantain his sharingan( with the love towards his clan) for ever. actually, latest chapters make me think that he may reach it,but it wouldn't be much suitable to his behaviour.

Re: The legend surrounding the Rinnegan and Sasuke's ultimate role in the story.

I don't think Sasuke can awaken the Rinnegan the same way that Madara did. Madara used Senju DNA which Sasuke doesn't possess. The only way that Sasuke could awaken a Rinnegan at this point in the story is if he already possessed the Kekkei Genkai for the Rinnegan.

Well, this can't lead to anything good!

Well, I don't really understand why you are saying that it "clicked" for you. The only thing that this theory goes off of is the idea that the prophecies about the Rinnegan are entirely true and will be an immediate part of the storyline.

I could swap out Sasuke and put in Naruto and this theory wouldn't be any more or less credible, aside from the fact that Naruto already has his ultimate intentions established. A possibility, sure, but I just don't see any weight behind it, which was the implication I was getting from your OP.

Re: The legend surrounding the Rinnegan and Sasuke's ultimate role in the story.

Another strange possibility would be for Sasuke, at the end of his fight against Kabuto, to actually absorb him using the jutsu Orochimaru tried to use to take over his body and Kekkei Genkai, since the Sharingan withnessed the jutsu being used and so recorded it. Sasuek would thereofre have access to Kabuto's body and abilities which included Suigestu's Hijutsu, Juugo's "Kekkei Genkai" and Karin's uzumaki/Senju DNA and thus he would awaken Rin'negan. He could also have access to Hebi/Ryuu Sage Mode by taking the methode info out of Kabuto's mind and then be able to use it.

It would be one of the greatest cheap pass-around-the-training-session trick used so far in the manga and would be the quentessence of Kishi,s quick trick to prevent a character to actually go through the required time and normal effort to access a new ability (like Naruto's super quick learning of Sage mode while Jiraiya took years, his quick learning to master Kyuubi and Kyuubi becoming his friend while he didn't do shit for year, Sasuke's super quick usage of Suano'o, his super quick eyesight loss for teh purpose of him having the EMS, etc).

Just an idea... I thought Pain losing to Naruto , becoming Naruto's friend and resurrecting the village would be too ridiculous, improbable and disgusting even for Kishimoto-sensei to do it... yet he did,s o...

what if that is the true rinnegan...and all the others we've seen have been tailored with uchiha dna.i'd imagine the son would have the closet eyes to RS...since the other son's body stayed so strong...
