I kinda dropped one piece for a while now- since I'm kinda confused with where it's at, or what the F is happening. Started with that snow fire island thing. :/ But if there's a Luffy biting off a chain it seems it's time to pick it up again

Fishman Island was a slightly boring arc. Punk Hazard, the current arc, has been magnificent. I would have compared the quality to Thriller Bark, until Oda connected this arcs plot to the overall plot of the manga. Now Punk Hazard is the beginning of the next saga (previewed at the end of Fishman Island), and developments are very exciting.

I sort of agree. I had dropped it in effect for a few weeks by accident. I had forgotten to read it and then realized I had missed a chapter and just put it off. I caught up last week though. The arc is a bit frantic but it's been good.

I remember I caught up with OP exactly when F.I arc began and it was especially painful to read it because I had 600 chapters of awesomeness left behind in one months and now I was stuck with this weekly *******

Really? OP tards had their fare share of new info, but I read OP for the fights, humor and all the other shounen elements, not to see 40 chapters of character development without any actual fights.

The overemphasis of the message wore on me. It's my least favorite arc in a long time for sure though.

Fishman Island arc was not bad. Not my favorite arc by a long shot, yet surely not as bad as people like to portray it. Most of the arc lacked Oda's usual levity, the Fisher Tiger and Otohime flashbacks were still remarkable. The end of the arc was epic, so was the transition to the New World. I find chapters interesting whenever the plot focuses on the true history or ancient weapons. I also thought Luffy's challenge to Big Mom was hilarious, one of my favorite scenes in a very long time. Overall I liked Fishman Island more than Skypeia and Davy Back Fight but would not rank it among the best arcs. As the opening arc of a saga it is very hard to judge Punk Hazard as a stand alone. Still, it has been a lot of fun so far.

Otohime flashback was one of the worst in my opinion, mostly cuz of Otohime herself. Fishman Island had some revelations there were good. I think the main reasons were to show how powerful the crew has gotten due to Arlong bein fishman and Luffy having difficulty, and for the history as well as revealing Poseidon.

Also loved how Luffy challenged Big Mom. Can't wait to see the thingie explode in her face.

OP has plenty of character development though. At least, enough. Look at how characters like Luffy and Chopper changed from their introduction 'til now.
