    Battle of the Brainiacs

    Competitors are:

    -Shikamaru
    -Shikaku
    -Neji
-Sakura (she was good at school...)
    -Kakashi
    -Minato
    -Sarutobi Hiruzen
-Naruto (many readers seem to believe he's smart)
    -Nagato
    -Darui
    -Sasuke
    -Itachi
    -Madara
    -Tobi
    -Kabuto
    -Orochimaru

All of them are going to take the same IQ-Test, which involves all possible categories (like memory, analytical- strategic- and quick thinking, knowledge, multitasking etc). Who's going to score first, second and third place?

    Tie between Minato and Itachi.
    Kakashi or Orochimaru
    Shikaku or Kabuto

    Re: Battle of the Brainiacs

I don't know about all that. Sasuke scored better than Shikamaru when they were in school. Granted, it was only because Shikamaru was being lazy and didn't take the test seriously, but the fact that his scores are comperable to one of the smartest ninja of his generation has to count for more than Itachi's failed plan and Minato's hype.

That said Kabuto and Tobi would be fighting for the number one spot, that's the only thing I'm sure of. Tobi, every time he's faced a Konoha nin, schooled them proper on how their own abilities work (Torune, Fuu, Kakashi) and knows tons of unknowable info that can't be known without Sharingan, MS, and Rinnegan. He's also atleast partially adept at gene splicing. Not to Kabuto's level, but until stated otherwise I'm giving him the credit for most of the Zetsu creations (save for Kabuto's modifications).

    Re: Battle of the Brainiacs

I would say Minato scores first, Shikaku and Orochimaru second, and because she needs it, Sakura ties third with Kabuto. Itachi, Sasuke, Kakashi, and Neji would all tie with Minato, since they can all easily cheat and copy him.

Presuming cheating isn't allowed, Itachi still ties with Minato, and Sasuke and Kakashi probably ends up tied with Sakura and Kabuto.

Tobi for me. He is the best manipulator in his game. Itachi made some mistakes, Minato is influenced by his feelings and goes on faith (not that it is really a bad thing but still).

    Re: Battle of the Brainiacs

    Memory = minato

analytical- strategic- and quick thinking = minato (like he did to tobi)

knowledge = minato. (minato even know that tobi/madara is the only one who knows the top barrier they used on kushina and the one who can pass through konohas barrier without being undetected and can't fight a long run while he was controlling the kyubi) and minato has alot knowledge in sealing and ninjutsu than the uchihas.

multitasking = tobi ofcourse. That man has a multitasking skills.

If cheating is allowed, Neji then every sharingan user.

If cheating is not allowed, I totally say Hiruzen, after that Shikaku, then Yondaime and Itachi, lastly Oro and Madara

Well, to be fair, Shikamaru' grades where said to be compareable to Naruto's... so surpassing those probably isn't much of a feat

    I agree.

    For me it would be:

    1.Kabuto
    2.Tobi
    3.Minato/Itachi

Kabuto is obvious for me after what he has shown in his fight against Tsunade (adapting to a confused nervous system in a matter of seconds). At the same time his knowledge about the ninja world easily suprpasses that of most other ninja's... and taking into account all his scientific and medical feats as well as his skills as an actor I think his overall score would be the highest.

Then we have Tobi... seems to know pretty much everything there is to know about the ninja world and also seems to be an scientist of compareable caliber to Kabuto and Orochimaru. On top of that he's pretty much unsurpassed as a manipulator. His only flaw is his arrogance, but that only matters in actual combat and not in an IQ Test.

Third place would have gone to Shikamaru imho, but I chose Itachi/Minato instead.

    http://www.mangareader.net/93-329-17...apter-324.html

Shikamaru's analytical skills are top-notch and on top of that he can think of 200 different scenario's in an instant and pick the best one. I think this ability surpasses even what Kabuto, Tobi, Minato and Itachi can do. The problem is that Shikamaru is lazy and prefers to sleep instead of sticking his nose into some books... so his knowledge shouldn't be able to keep up with some other guys. He has an insanely fast harddrive worth millions of Terabytes, but probably most of it is empty. For that reason I think his overall score would be lower then that of walking bookshelves like Itachi, Minato, Hiruzen etc.

    Re: Battle of the Brainiacs

If this is an IQ test than Shikamaru would certainly come in first. He's stated to have an IQ of over 200 and can think of hundreds scenarios in his head in a small time frame.

His father would be next, and then I'd rate Kakashi, Minato or Itachi as third.

IMO, keep in mind IQ has nothing to do with medical knowledge (Kabuto and Orochimaru), ability to create and understand jutsu (Minato & Kakashi) or ability to have knowledge over the course of a life-time (Tobi).

A person's IQ does not change much once they have grown adolescence, so a better question to ask would be who is "overall" the smartest character, and I'm pretty sure there is a thread for that.

Obito has also slipped through the boulders before he awakened his MS. No surprise here at all, just Kishi doing a headstand while taking a shit, which is pretty much the development cycle in a nutshell of his recent work - IChallengeYou!

    Re: Battle of the Brainiacs

Shikamaru is the easy answer to this since we have a real world example to go by. His I.Q. was stated by Kishimoto to be over 200. An I.Q. over 200 cannot really be measured by any test. So Kishimoto is telling us Shikamaru's intelligence has no limit or no equal in the manga. He is a living computer whose brain can do things that seem superhuman. So to limit him, Kish made him extremely lazy and apathetic. Otherwise he might be recreating the nature of jutsu and doing things that make Orochimaru's research look childish. He simply lacks the ambition of a Kabuto, Itachi, Orochimaru, or Minato. But give him an IQ test and he would obviously get the highest score since he has rinnegan of brains.

His father(Shikaku) is more experienced than him, but I doubt he has his potential given there is a lot more focus on Shikamaru as a character. Shikamaru will pass him.

I always wondered if the Nara were Senju and specifically inherited the Sage's great intelligence? Or are Shikaku and Shikamaru the first smart Nara?

Im confused though. I always thought Shikaku was smarter than Shikamaru. Was it confirmed somewhere that Shikamaru surpassed his dad?

    Re: Battle of the Brainiacs

If we go by pure brain processing power then Nagato takes this by far. He was able to coordinate multiple bodies and react in a split second to multiple people, factors, objects, jutsus and so on all over an entire village on multiple bodies, even moving limbs and its an insane feat. That is why we don't have lots of limbs, so the brain does not need to coordonate them all and have space for something better, like art.
