Kurokami Medaka, a first year, is elected as Student Council President, and the first thing she does is establish a suggestion box, later dubbed by students the "Medaka Box". Medaka encourages students to submit any problem to the box without hesitation and promises to take on any issue from anyone.
Since Medaka won the Student Council elections with a staggering 98% of the vote, she ends up as the Council's only member. She asks her childhood friend, Hitoyoshi Zenkichi, for help and he grudgingly agrees, becoming the Student Council's lowest ranking member. Soon Medaka recruits two more people to the Student Council, the former judo club member Akune Kouki as secretary and the current swim club member Kikaijima Mogana, on loan for 300 yen a day, as treasurer.
Now the Student Council members spend their days solving the problems submitted through the Medaka Box, whether they be hooligans in clubs where they don't belong, girls who need help writing love letters or people who've lost their pets, gradually earning the respect and admiration of the entire school.
The first episode was good, as expected of Gainax. There were some minor flaws here and there but the real fun has yet to start so I can't really judge it yet but I do have high hopes for the series, especially because mentioned Gainax is taking care of it. Everyone who hasn't read the series yet should check out the anime!

So I watched the first episode and I saw potential.
Medaka gave me a slight Haruhi-vibe at first but now I can't compare them anymore.
Shiranui... the loli for the rate... But I love this girl... XD
The tsundere male main character (yeah I kinda never remember the names of male chars unless they are short)... Can't say much about him yet...
Looking at Medakas uniform... I'd like to see the teacher who allowed such a neckline... It kinda destroys her character for me... I don't like that =/
I'm quite happy even though I disliked some parts of the episode or the world. For example the city-like school. But lets see how everything falls into place.
Except the anime sells rather poorly, so the possibility for any further seasons is very low, if not already gone.
Well, at the very least they're going to make a Good Loser Kumagawa episode, so at least Kumagawa's appearance won't be compose of just 1 minute. I'm kinda wondering how they're going to make a full episode out a 34 page oneshot/extra chapter.
The quality of the anime is not the bets yeah. But I read it'll be 2x 12 episodes this time. Because the end of this arc leads directly to the next. It can't stop there.
It doesn't make sense, but that's exactly what's going to happen. Just because it ends on a cliffhanger, it doesn't mean they're obligated to make another season. When they made this deal, they made it for two seasons, hoping that it would sell so they would continue. The opposite happened, and it sold horribly, so now they're in an awkward place where they have to end it without any reasonable conclusion.
I think it fits Gainax. Gainax are known trolls. It's just like them to not only troll with the opening for season 2, hinting at stuff that comes WAAY in the future, but to also end the series just when the most popular character in the series makes his debut and the series really starts to take off. That's Gainax for you. Really sucks though because i HATED Medaka Box season 1, but then season 2 came out and right as it started to become one of my favorite shounen it ends. Like, wtf? I really wish it could continue seeing as i don't read manga but this is no different than what they did with Panty & Stocking. Also, with the sales Medaka Box had i doubt any other studio will be willing to pick the series up. Medaka Box has always had mediocre ratings.
