Did Shisui know about the massacre?

Hi guys,

I have a question regarding Uchiha Shisui. I was wondering whether he knew about the plan to kill the Uchiha clan or not.

We don't have that much information about Shisui, but what we know at least is this:

- he was a very talented ninja, particularly skilled when it came to using his sharingan
- he was Itachi's best friend
- he loved Konoha
- he was extremely loyal to his clan
- he gave his sharingan to Danzou (or was it taken by force? we don't know really)
- he gave his other eye to Itachi in order to protect the village
- he sacrificed his life

Here's what is confusing me: on one hand, he was very loyal to his clan, on the other hand, he wanted to protect Konoha no matter what. These two things seem to contradict themselves, knowing what happened to the Uchiha clan. By giving Itachi one of his eyes, does that mean he knew the massacre was going to take place, and that he accepted that? It seems weird to me that he would be okay with the knowledge that his family, friends and fellow clan members would all be murdered, and at the same time, be so loyal to his clan?

Well, reading the last chapter, Danzou already had Shisui eye. It seems that he had a little help from Orochimaru in doing that. I just wonder why Shisui didn't alert the Third about Orochimaru, but peharps the Third already knew about Orochimaru twiested way.

Well, we do know that shisui killed himself to prevent others from abusing his power (admittedly danzo thwarted him to some degree but still). I would argue that he did know though. He was itachi's mentor and apparently someone who would place the village before his clan. I don't think he would have acted differently from itachi in this regard (except he probably wouldn't have spared sasuke).

Maybe shisui knows the coup of the uchiha clan. And maybe there's someone in the uchiha clan who want's shisui eyes. SO it was better for shisui to entrust his eyes to danzo and itachi to protect the konoha. Because he probably knows how dangerous if his eyes will be in the hands of his retarded clan.

Itachi was loyal to the clan but accepted they needed to be eliminated too, so Shisui being the same isn't out of the question. After all, we were told that Shisui was the one who taught Itachi the whole self-sacrifice and protecting from the shadows belief. And given that he was seemingly associated with Danzo since they held the same belief about self-sacrifice, it's likely he did know the massacre was gonna happen and choose death to keep his eyes out of play and possibly grant Itachi MS.

lol,maybe he got crazy because of that contradiction that is he didn't know whom to choose between his clanmates or his comrades.
by the way,I'd add that he wasn't just strong with the sharingan,he was extremely fast,according to his nickname,and he even fought Ao of the Mist.

IMO , he thought if he giving his eye to Danzo , all thing could solve , because with his ability , konoha could has upper hand and by sacrificing himself , Uchihas losing one of their best and become weaken ....

but Konoha was greedy and want killing all uchiha and uchihas were so proud and didn't sit in their knee against konoha ...

so IMO he was nothing more than a coward that ran from problems by killing himself ....

I understand. actually,I agree with you because he should have stayed there working for peace,rather than committing suicide. about konoha ninjas,not everyone wanted to kill them,actually it was just few ones.
