Hello everyone! A very light-hearted game here. I recently read Beelzebub and it reminded me of an RPG I ran on another site years ago about a school where lots of gangs vie for control, respect and reputation. This game will contains elements from both Beelzebub and that RPG. Note: YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE FAMILIAR WITH BEELZEBUB AT ALL for this RPG.

This RPG is set in Prolium Academy, a strange school where many different gangs, cliques and teams exist. Combat, fighting and strength are what determines one's social position. Many eccentric and skill students attend this school. Our characters are students of this school; even if not interested in controlling the school, they may find themselves drawn into battle nonetheless.

As I have said, this RPG will be very light-hearted; it will be free-form rather than plot-driven. I do have story arcs loosely planned out, but how exactly they will go depends on you and your characters.

In terms of combat, fighting won't be very realistic; you can push physics to its limit provided what you're doing is either a) awesome or b) funny. :P Moving faster than is humanly possible, punching people across the room, running across the top of a crowd of people, carrying weapons, all of it is fine.

The story begins one month into the new school year, and the strongest groups and individuals have already started to assert their influence as always. BUT, it's still early days, and no one can say for sure what's might happen over the course of the rest of the year.

Rules:

1) No god-modding. This is pretty much a given. It includes controlling characters beyond your own character without permission and performing over-powered actions. Repeat offenders will be punished. If I believe you've made an honest mistake then that's ok, but I'll point it out so that you're less likely to make it again. However, given the comedic setting of this RPG, it's unlikely that I'll declare any action over-powered.
2) Be literate. This means using full and clear sentences when posting. Typos and mistakes in grammar and spelling are fine provided it's clear what you're trying to say, but please do your best.
3) All characters must be approved by the GM.
4) I reserve the right to alter these rules (ie. if I've forgotten any).
5) I reserve the right to refuse character applications.

Things you'll need to know about the School:

-Although weapons are allowed, by common consent no one uses guns or other firearms.
-For some reason, no one sees much of the school's teaching staff, and no one really makes the students go to lessons. Despite this, the school can afford good facilities.
-The school has a thriving social life; there are many, many different clubs, teams and societies, and students are encouraged to join at least. Despite the amount of violence within the school, most students adhere to this.
-Of the many gangs and groups within Prolium, four stand out as the most prominent and powerful, and they maintain a balance of power. Each is considered to have one speciality as its major strength.

The Upper Crust Strength: Numbers
The largest group within the school. It is actually a loose conglomerate of many smaller groups; at a rough estimate, around 60% of students are considered to be affiliated with The Upper Crust. Included amongst them are jocks and their friends, popular kids and sports teams, as well as many groups of hangers-on and wannabe cool kids.

Omnia Veritas Strength: Intelligence
Another conglomerate of groups, albeit a much smaller one. Most its members are smart kids, nerds, other academic types, and members of non-athletic societies. They use their brains to fight.

Sanguerone Strength: Money
A smallish, mafia-like group who use money, threats and violence to increase its influence. However, they also have a surprisingly good sense of comeraderie.

Martial Law Strength: Skill
The smallest of the four most main groups. It is made up exclusively of members of martial arts teams. Despite its numbers being far lower, its core members are individually powerful enough that they still maintain their status as one of the most powerful gangs in the school.


Player characters can be members (or even leader!) of any of these four gangs, independent, or you can create your own gang/group. If you create a gang, include details of it in your character's biography. They can't be as powerful as these four, but they may become as powerful. Hint hint.

That's everything I think! I'm very tired so I may well have missed something out. If that's the case, I'll edit it in later. ^_^ I'll also create my character tomorrow.

Appearance: Tommy is a good-looking pretty boy with well-defined facial structure. He has large, hazel eyes, but since frowning is his default expression, they tend to be more narrowed than they might be. Physique-wise, Tommy is slim but toned, and his posture is bad. He has a mane of thick, messy, dark brown hair that frames his face with the help of the long, grey beanie pulled down to just above his eyebrows.

Clothes-wise, he’s always wearing blue jeans rolled up to just below his knees and a pair of Converse All-Stars (he has many different designs). He usually wears t-shirts and loose, zip-up hoodies, almost always open and with the sleeves rolled up.
Personality: Given that frowning is his default facial expression, people tend to think Tommy unapproachable, but he’s actually a nice guy. In fact, he considers himself a happy person (he doesn’t even realise he is frowning until someone points it out). He is generally pretty laid-back, but he has a passionate side that emerges at certain times, and he gets very pumped-up at the prospect of any kind of trouble. He has a very dry sense of humour fitting his laid-back personality, and he is exceptionally lazy. His memory is rather odd; he has encyclopaedic knowledge on a lot of useful subjects, but is generally very forgetful.

Although Tommy enjoys the rush of battle, he doesn’t start fights unless he has to. However, if someone swings for him, he’s more than happy to swing back. He also can’t hit girls, and is generally pretty chivalrous.

Fighting Style: Free-form brawling; Tommy has some formal combat training, but generally he relies on his own self-taught skills. He is very agile and is an expert at blocking and dodging attacks (He’s been compared to a squirrel in that respect!), but he is also very strong in the leg department. He sometimes supplements his sub-par arm strength through the use of his tonfa.
Weapons/Equipment: Tommy sometimes wields a pair of twin tonfa, though he will rarely use them against an unarmed opponent.

Background/History: Tommy attended a school for rich kids before transferring to Prolium Academy. At their old school his group of friends didn’t really fit in since they were always getting into trouble (although Tommy wasn’t as bad as the rest of them), which is why they all left. Most of them were ass-holes too, which Tommy realised, and cut all ties with them when they reached Prolium. His erstwhile friends entered into the spirit of the school at once, forming a minor gang called the Dealers and allying themselves with The Upper Crust.

Tommy, on the other hand, has not yet allied himself with any one gang, preferring to drift around aimlessly, beating up anyone who might start a fight with him, and hanging out on the school’s roof playing Tetris.
