Chapters with color pages are ranked. It's the chapter 8 weeks prior that isn't ranked. At least I'm pretty sure it works that way.

Yeah that's right. And even the chapter that doesn't get ranked can still be voted for. They take note of where it ranks with other series that week they just don't place it in the corresponding place in the ToC.

Makes sense. I mean what else were they going to do? Bakuman ended so they needed a replacement, Kenshin isn't going to last long, and they are trying to have every series in the mag be 2 weeks behind jump. Makes sense to add a new series and then if it fails they can add one from the next batch.

Battle of the Bulge sound be nice. Though if the protag is like Naruto at the beginning then I'm not reading it. After Luffy, Natsu and Naruto I'm kinda sick of dumb protagonists.

I do wish it was Beelzebub or Reborn considering Reborn sells the manga here.

That's a really interesting move by them, licensing a brand new series from a barely established artist. Here's hoping it does well, because if so, it could mean more new series get licensed like this. Also, if it does well, it might get a print run.....Actually, how does WSJ Alpha know if a series does well? Do they have surveys to see which individual series is popular?

This is just my assumption, but maybe volume sales? if the series does well of course the volume sales will be soared.

But I don't think Barrage has been confirmed for a print run yet. I just assumed that since this is a brand new series even in Japan, they were just doing a digital only test run first.

I'm pretty sure the editors just place new series wherever they want until they are officially ranked.

Yes. I remember something about volume 17 being recalled because of mistranslations and such.
