Well if I remember correctly, this volume of Bleach contained some other book as well (can't remember what exactly) so I'm betting that explains the boost in sells, as well as it starting the new arc.

It came with "The Rebooted Souls" which is a summary of everything that happened in Bleach untli the start of the Final Arc. It is destined to the new readers so they are able to catch up.

Be liked on mangahelpers does not mean liked by Jump voters... Its rankings are not better or worse than others series, I think it's a false impression you have. But the fact that they put it on jump alpha probably means that they are confident on its success and will probably wait a bit longer before cancelling it unless the ranks are terrible.

It's unusual for the editors to place a series with fewer than eight chapters in the top five, or bottom five. Just above or just below is not to unusual, but placing chapter five in fourth place is unusual. In the past this has usually indicated a series would have at least some initial staying power. Unfortunately the only other series I can think of that placed that high, that early, is Psi, which debuted a week before Bulge. It is in fifth place this week, last week it was in fourth. While I would not use this as evidence that Bulge will last ten years, it is reasonable to believe that early feedback in Japan was positive enough that the editors chose to put it so close to the beginning of the magazine.

To be honest, this is the first time in a while Oricon has reflected a whole week of Bleach's volume going on sale. Usually Bleach's sales look low because the week Oricon surveys has Bleach debut in the middle of it. I think last time a Bleach volume came out it had only been on sale for 3 days.

Beelzebub sold really well! I am really please with this. <3 Pajama did pretty well also! Though I hope it's enough to save it from cancellation.

Yes but even if we count the days it was always around 400-450k in his first week.

Zeromcd, could you tell me where you're getting the 31-50 ranks from the Oricon? I can't find anywhere on the Oricon's site or anywhere on 2ch where they post those. If you don't wanna say it publicly, could you send a PM?

TOC is always a mess IMO. There is the question of who exactly turned in a vote and how many are counted and what age group etc etc.

I believe some series are kept at the bottom just so people would actually go look through the magazine and read more than just X manga.

While I'm not happy about Bleach's ranking I'm sure it will bounce back as the arc goes on. Its not fun seeing one of your favorite manga in the bottom 5 but TOC changes each week for the most part. All I can do is wait for each weeks TOC and hope that the manga I like aren't at the bottom.

Wow, Bleach is up 120k from what it was last year. I imagine the new arc + guide book had to do with it. Those Jump editors sure are clever.

Reborn's about 10-15k down from last year (in fact, it's 7k down from this January). A gradual decrease doesn't seem that appalling, but over the long term Reborn has lost a substantial amount of sales. Two years from now (judging by the pattern it's following) it may even dip below the 200k point.

Bleach Volume 55 will be getting a reprint on July 2 due to the high amount of sales.

Turn Back the Pendulem has the highest amount of sales which isn't suprising.

On a semi related note, I just ordered Bleach 55 from Kinokuniya Australia and I didn't get the Rebooted Souls. Haikyuu volume 1 has lots of extras so I'm glad I purchased it, kinda regretting not purchasing Pajama.

Pretty good ToC. Bleach and Reborn are where they have belonged for years now. I definitely expect Kurogane and Magico to be the next ones out in 10 weeks or so when the decisions start being made. Unless one or both of them manages to hit a boost in ToC rankings. Toriko, One Piece, and Nisekoi making up the top 3 are great with me along with Sket Dance and Medaka Box holding down the middle. Virtually no complaints from me this week.

Pajama seems to have had a good first week on Oricon. Hopefully it can continue to grow in sales and not stagnate early. Also looking forward to Medaka's 3rd year anniversary colors and popularity contest.
