English phrase "teach you a lesson"

    あんたなんかクラッシュでもして 一度いたい目にあえばいいんだ
Have a crash for once. That will teach you a lesson.

    Is this the right translation?

痛い目 = to have a horrible experience (Japanese idiom)
痛い目に合え = you should be taught a lesson?

That will teach you a lesson.
I would change will to would: That would teach you a lesson. edit: (would だと 「~だろう」のニュアンスがでる。ENG>JP translation for "teach someone a lesson": 焼きをいれる、かわいがる、わからせてやる. I think it is fine to use the phrase in your sentence.)
