of course you can explain why you've associated a song with a certain character.... associations are primarily subjective and are based on your own conclusions/ideas/assumptions...
I was listening to the song below and my mind drifted towards Priscilla...I remembered how she passed her limit and how her consciousness tried to find an excuse for what she became...blaming Teresa for everything..even for the animal inside her...I assume that her pursuit of Teresa's lingering scent in Raki and later in Clare and her memory loss before delivering the last blow in the battle with Isley are a way to fighting her inner animal.

Clare inside the blob...
This song reminds me of Cassandra for some reason : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PN3kJwReK2U
You get the idea from our forum?
I started such a thread over on MF last year and its carrying on at AW too.
Priscilla (Fire + Ice - Take My Hand)
Isley (Blood Axis - Storm of Steel)

One of my fave bands released a new album that included the single "We are the Others" in June 2012. This particular song made me think of the Ghosts and their quest to destroy the organization after the aftermath of Pieta and those seven long years
I'm not very good at associating songs with characters, and most of my music is from anime OSTs so I can't understand the lyrics. I'm more comfortable with associating songs with events/themes. Anyway, here are a few ideas :
Raki (on his relationship with Clare):
VAST - Touched http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rpx_PcZjByY
Yuki Kajiura - Vanity http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2IrOh3ctsbw
Clare (on her relationship with Teresa): Evanescence - My Immortal http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5anLPw0Efmo
Clare (overall) : Three Days Grace - animal I have become
Isley (final moments) : Linkin Park - In the end http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1yw1Tgj9-VU
Priscilla : Linkin Park - What I've done http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uzuo_UObpuA
8stops7 - Uninspired http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZYphWY1mqAs
Linkin Park - Numb http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cZQrMqdv54I
Cassandra : Linkin Park - Somewhere I belong http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gcs5PRxEXq4
Songs I'd associate with specific moments :
Teresa VS Irene's group : System of a down - Spiders http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QkuaZbGry2Y
Battle of Pieta :
Rhapsody of Fire - Rain of a thousand flames http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t0Pc0L7ipTY
Two steps from hell - Protectors of the Earth http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ASj81daun5Q
The warriors' rebellion : Disturbed - Ten thousand fists http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JyxBiUbCP8E
Overall song (maybe for the humans in the Claymore world) : Savatage - This isn't what we meant http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TyiKTOju9Og

Galatea character song:
Here is the link to the channel.
Aww, no one is playing anymore? This is a rather interesting game since it shows our respective musical backgrounds but also our takes on the various characters.
Anyway, I thought about this song, and who it'd fit best; sheer determination to remain true to yourself no matter what... I'll give this one to Jean, especiallyduring the Witch's Maw arc : Disturbed - I'm alive http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q8ALdc1RzLU

This Song really reminds me of Roxanne and Cassandra :3 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XzWsbnjnFWs
These lyrics especially remind me of Roxanne when she's obsessing other Cassandra: "Look here she comes now Bow down and stare in wonder Oh how we love you No flaws when you're pretending" and when Cassandra attacks her after Awakening and she goes nuts "Without the Mask Where will you hide? Cant find yourself lost in your lie"
And these for Cassandra when she finds out about Roxanne: "I know the truth now, i know who you are and i dont love you any more" Plus these when she finds out about Roxanne murdering her friend and when she dies "but now i know she never was and never will be you don't know how you've betrayed me and somehow you've got everybody fooled"

Regarding the musical background...it's interesting to see how most Claymore readers (at least those who contributed to this thread) listen to rock, metal & Goth songs
Back to associations ~a song that fits the single digit awakened warriors
Well Claymore fits that kind of music since it is such a dark manga. I don't think that rap, classical, or country really fits it. Although I do happen to like classical music...Quote:

True...Claymore fits better heavy music...yet some relationships can be translated into much softer music tones...When it comes to personal preferences, rock, symphonic metal, Goth and classical music are on the top of the list. However, I listen to various tracks (house, trance, raggae, pop or different style combos as long as they are not commercial --->points to Florida ~ Whistle...that song is killing me... literally...makes me sick when I hear it

This music's from a video game series I've been a fan of for over decade, got some decent music.
This particular one suits Miria I think, it's so full of emotions and secrets, calm, cool, civilised, and collected at times yet pushing onwards throughout, steadily and relentlessly... perfect match!
And this one is for Rosemary, probably goes in where she invites Teresa for a duel.
(Remember the 720p :P)
I find neofolk fits the tone, this one might be how Teresa feels about humans before she goes in a red mist and actually kills some of the fuckers.
Sol Invictus - The Killing Tide
Another for Isley! I can imagine Isley rallying his followers with this one, Isley reminds me of Mike Moynihan.
Blood Axis - Electricity

People who like classical and and rock music are supposed to have similar personalities - quiet but tempermental. It wouldn't surprise me if this description fits many Claymore fans as well given the lack of emotional expression in Claymore save for outbursts leading to awakening.

Cassandra: Richard Hell and Voidoids, Liars Beware
Look out here you pompous jerk
Look out here I go berserk
Well I guess you put me in my place
but I won't forget your stupid face
Clare: DNA, Lionel
I imagine most people will hate this. Affectless but frentic. Fast, dischordant, and the drums are relentless.
Mira: Jimmy Cliff, The Harder They Come
But I'd rather be a free man in my grave
Than living as a puppet or a slave
Isley: David Bowie, Big Brother
Cuz Isley is Bowie
Riful, Dauph: Die Antwoord, I Fink U Freeky
True love is often disturbing.
Ghosts: Ernst Busch, Am Rio Jarama
With the Ghosts playing the role of the International Brigades. Busch's version is infinitely superior to the english version, though his politics were horrible.

And Priscilla: Slayer, Raining Blood
