I'm not sure what it says about humanity. Probably our persistence and penchant for particularity. Humanity would not be what it is today without the domestic dog. We very much owe the domestic dog for our transition from nomadic hunter-gathers to a pastoral existence. They also played a large part in the invention of agriculture. I'm sure the Shih Tzu had a purpose at one time, other than being a lapdog for nobility. It was probably a ratter.

Watemote has nothing in common with Kaminomi. It's closer in mood and attitude to Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei. The author does not seem to hold otaku culture in high regard, most of the humor comes from watching the heroine act like a delusional weirdo.

I just meant from the description, involving the visual novel or dating sim aspect or Otakudom. I don't know enough about either to make a hard association. The series does seem to be pretty popular though. Only 20 or so chapters isn't bad, I might read it next.
