Correct me if I'm wrong, but it looks like it's the first time they got a VA from the 1999 series to play a role in this new adaptation. According to ANN, Kiuchi (who will voice Franklin) voiced Basho and Majitani from the first adaptation. Never watched the first series in japanese but idk, sounds interesting

Oooooh god! Huge reveal indeed! For now, I'm not sure how I feel about:

1) Feitan's seiyuu (everybody knows Yamaguchi-san...): Usopp from One Piece, Kuma from Persona 4, Inuyasha... he doesn't sound totally like Usopp all the time but he does sound similar most of the time, and it's easy to recognize him because his voice is quite unique, and I'm so not sure that Feitan, little taciturn Feitan is a good match for that voice, and... I can't even imagine it...

2) Shalnark's seiyuu: why did they choose a woman to voice him?! Beyond me for now... I thought we already had a not so good experience in HxH with women voicing grown up guys (Feitan...)

3) Kuroro's seiyuu (everybody, and I mean everybody knows Miyano): Miyano is awesome, that much is obvious, one of my favorites, actually, but for Kuroro... I'm not sure... I'll have to pin my hopes on his great talent to choose one right way of acting out of many he has at his disposal to fit that character...

And about really good fits, imo: Pakunoda (Maki from Airmaster, loved her there, definitely Paku will be just like I imagined her) and Uvogin (Rider from F/Z! Need I say more?). The rest seem to be OK, for now.


So July, 15, huh? Still a month away... Oh boy, how am I even gonna live through that month...

Concerning the whole "Woman playing a man's role" and to be specific Shalnark, how old is he? He doesn't look that old or serious to need a gruff male voice. His voice actress also voiced Seta Sojiro from Rurouni Kenshin and that went fine, right?

Officially 'unknown', but I kept coming across a kind of a consensus in several discussions that he's 24... I'm not sure why they think like this, I just decided to more or less go with that cause that age sounded about right. He has a baby face but he's not too young (appearences are deceiving: look at Kuroro looking 18-19 instead of his 26 when he removes the bandage from his head after the battle with the Zoldycks...), so 'in his twenties' for his age makes most sense to me.

As mrsticky005 said, remember he was L, in Death Note.

Ah I see, I wasn't 100% on that so thanks for clearing that up. I did watch the OVA's however, so I'm not sure why I didn't pick up Nobunaga's voice from Jones, probably because I wasn't expecting any of the old cast to make a return.

Madhouse sure used their old connections, 7 from 10 seiyuus voiced characters in anime produced by Madhouse XD and nearly half the Troupe is cast from Death Note (Light, L, Near, Yagami Soichiro, Hirokazu Ukita)
sounds like some awesome cast, except for the two new girls which I can't really judge but Machi's voice sounds good to me

quite hyped for the Yorknew Arc, I have absolute faith in Madhouse
