Looks like we are all going to be Noblesse-less for a month. It's for the best as they author and artist must have been running themselves ragged on the schedule they've been on.
Spoiler: Still if your looking for something to fill the void here are some recommendations.
show- Sensei no Balge
Shounen/Action/Adventure/Sci-Fi. It may only be 2 chapters into it's story but this shows a lot of signs that it could become the next One Piece or Naruto. Think I'm exaggerating? Check it out for yourself
- Beelzebub
If you haven't read this, you need to. It has a signature kind of comedic style that I don't think you can find anywhere else. Demonic fun.
- Ubel Blatt
Action/Drama. Not as ecchi as the first chapter would make you think. If you want a good mature story, you should check it out.
- Girls of the Wild's
Martial arts/drama/romance/comedy. The artwork is awesome too. I recommend it
- The World God Only Knows
A love comedy, whose premise is too complicated to describe but suffice it to say if your looking for some romance with tons of laughs here's a good place to find that.
- TAL
Don't let the mediocre art put you off TAL is a hilarious Manhwa. If dry comedy is your thing, you'll love this one.
Now onto the review!
Chapter Summary
Every principal is as super-strong as me. Didn't you guys know that?
This week begins with the Union Elders discussing the death of the 12th Elder and what to do going forward. Ultimately they decide most of the blame for all this lies with the 12th and, while they resolve to investigate what could have killed him, they don't seem to intend to punish the KSA for what went on. They also briefly consider that he was headed there to try and dig up dirt on Crombell but that suspicion is quickly dismissed since Crombell spoke up for him before. Which seems to clear him of suspicion in the minds of the other elders...except Roctis who remains suspicious of him.
Meanwhile, in Lukedonia the Nobles receive word from Seira describing all that happened..including that the Elder was contracted to Roctis. The clan leaders are understandably surprised but Raskreia remains stoic at this news; leaving no clues about what she might intend to do.
Back at the Yeran High School, the KSA agents finally show up and are escorted to Frankenstiens office by the Takeo, Tao, and M-21. Along the way though, Sangeen stops to thank them for all they did. Pointing out that without their intervention he would surely be dead. Tao just kinda chuckles and points out that it was M-21 was the one who had the greatest contribution. Yontsu swallows some pride and thanks M-21 but he just silently turns and walks away.
After they reach Frankenstein's office. The slightly fearful pair begin to brief him on the condition of the KSA. Apparently the reconstruction is going far better than they could have hopped almost like somebody was helping things along from the shadows. Frankenstein confirms that he called in a few favors and that he personally saw to the medical care of the head of the agency; resulting in a miraculous recovery. Further stunned by this Sangeen can't help but ask who he is; and in highly dramatic fashion he answers "I am the chairman of Yeran High School" leaving them all stunned for an entirely different reason.
Later on the veranda Frankenstein presents Raizel with a ring(it's not what you think...probably). The ring is the thing he produced by unleashing his powers in that secret room. It's a form of seal that he hopes will contain his masters leaking power. He apologetically confesses that he had to use the dark spear to create it. But Raizel doesn't seem bothered by that and puts it on. Then he looks at it and flinches slightly. This sends Frankenstein into a bit of a panic, until his master explains that he doesn't like the color and relieves his friends concerns somewhat. Then he turns and says that he wants some ramen, and wonders if Seira has finished making it yet.
He walks inside to find the whole gang having a great time around the dinner table and yell for him to come over, while they smile and talk about what they are going to do afterward. He walks forward while Frankenstein worries behind him.
Chapter Review
That's our Rai, even to save his life he has a hard time wearing earth tones.
Substance
It looks like the Union is non-hostile toward the KSA right now. Which means Yontsu and Sangeen's membership in the RK-5 is on hold for the moment. Yontsu thanking M-21 and him silently walking away was a interesting little scene that I don't really understand. What did that mean? Was it just his way of saying "There is no need for thanks" or maybe "....I didn't realize you were married *turns away and sobs*". I'm going to say it's the former but I choose to believe the latter.
We also learned a bit about the functionality of that Raizel's seal. It turns out that he needs to wear it so his power doesn't leak out and kill him. The earrings were apparently made by the previous lord and Frankenstien's secret underground activity was actually attempting to create a something to tighten the seal using the dark spear. Which isn't really healing, it's just something to buy Raizel a little time.
The Lukedonia part didn't really give us any clues about what they will do about the Union's link with a traitorous noble. But now that they know know conflict seems unavoidable at some point.
Presentation
I would say the art this week was back to normal for the most part. Character expressions were great but nothing else really stood out to me. I wasn't a huge fan of the color selection for the dusk light during the scene with Franky and Raizel on the veranda. I like the idea of the shading there but the color "hot pink" just doesn't work for me in a dramatic scene.
Pacing was brisk and to the point. This felt like and final wrap up chapter, which is what it is. It sets itself up as a good stopping point, which I'm a big fan of.
There persists this idea in writing you should leave your audience hungry, which is one of the reasons why you often see a cliffhanger before a break. I personally think that, unless it's the natural flow of the plot, it comes across as cheap and often indicates that the writer has a lack of confidence in the value of their story; because if your story is good people WILL want more.
Final Rating
A final arc wrap up. Nothing flashy but it tied up most of the loose ends and got us ready to move past this to whatever comes next when the series resumes in a month's time.
I give it a 3 out of 5
My Predictions
- M-21 and Yontsu. I think it's going to happen, even if I have no idea how.
My Previous Predictions(Current Record 17-18)
We'll see Raizel's schoolmates next week.
Correct. They appeared at the end to reestablish what Raizel holds dear.
The Agency Director is evil(obviously).
Incorrect. He may look evil and be a bit of a D-bag but apparently he's not a villain.
The trainees that disappeared are dead or worse.
Incorrect. I mean, it's possible but we'll never know; which makes me wrong.
- Rael will lose his next battle to the RK-4.
- I think Lee Youn-In is going to be more than just a soon-to-be-forgotten sub-character. I suspect she may have a role in the plot.
- Raizel will name Shin Woo his successor; resulting in him inheriting the title and power of the Noblesse.
- The female operative from the Union will eventually end up on Raizel's side, like M-21 and the others.
- Rael will show up at Raizel's school seeking revenge on him and his human friends.
- Na Yontsu will get mixed feeling about recruiting Shin Woo and Ikkan.
- Raizel will ultimately choose to use himself up completely in order to help his friends.
- The Union was originally created by the Traitorous Nobles.
- More traitors than just Roctis are in league with the Union
Thread Question of the Week/Month
Am I completely insane for still feeling like a M-21 and Yontsu romance is coming?
