There was 1 chapter and a half in this episode. Which is impressive based on how much of the episode was pure flashbacks.
Still, it doesn't negate from the fact that this episode was totally boring, and that because it contained an unusual amount of flashbacks. A few flashbacks here and there don't pose a problem, but when you show almost 10 minutes of flashbacks it becomes very annoying. Moreover a few flashbacks is enough to jog anyone's memory. Fact is the chapter lacked quality content and even though they covered a chapter or so in this episode, it still sucked because for some reason or another they seem incapable of creating eye-catching filler material to aid the transition from one manga page to another. For someone who reads the manga, it looks very lousy, unprofessional; somone with mediocre Adobe Flash experience would be able to create much better content.

Don't get me wrong, the episode sucked, even without the filler material

Hmm. Was hoping the animation team would flush things out more with a little more action than what was provided in the manga. Looks like that isn't happening yet, and the zabuza revision didn't help either.
