The average moviegoer is a dumb sack of flesh, with the express goal of self gratification through visual stimuli. With that in mind, I'll go with Old Boy, because people need to know that Koreans don't only make soaps and chick flicks.
Old Boy is soooo disturbingly awesome. Though it actually was based from a manga. But it doesn't change the fact that Koreans know how to make great movies.
If we're talking Japanese then hell, they should release Fish Story then.
Yeah, the friend that gave me the movie told me that it was based off a manga. Speaking of Oldboy, the hallway scene in Old Boy was done in a single take. That shows just how good the entire crew is.
As for Japanese movies, I'd like to see the directors cut of the live action Guyver movies, to show current anime fans/ Japophiles that not everything needs to be totally emo.
The Vengeance Trilogy (which Old Boy is a part of) is indeed notable, but I don't think SM would likely pick it up. From it being a foreign film there's already a designated smaller market for it, add to the fact that it would have an R rating would strip the viewership to an even smaller niche.
so this foreign films trend in PH is relatively new. i don't see non-mainstream stuff showing yet. maybe 2-3 years from now we'd see movies with mind fuck premise on SM screens. maybe.
the only mindfuck movies sm does are hollywood mindfuck movies. and yes, the yearly mmff movies.
see what i did there? no? too bad.
better late than never

Speaking of rock and music... (in which Beck the manga was given reference to in one random episode) kuro-nii, you will like this KDrama.
very well done! Tonally different from all other KDrama i've seen (i even feel it's akin to JDrama)- very true to life, heart-tugging and captivating.
bat marunong ka mag bisaya???Quote:
"Those guys are no joke. Their group name is EYE CANDY"
Yes, indeed. I'm finding it very easy to take them seriously.
ahem. Baboysai to defend the drama.
It is actually funny that their bandname is Eye Candy- they are high school punks so full of themselves, and eventually as producers catch their attention they are criticized by the pros in the field (specifically about what you have noticed)- it's part of the plot that their band name is stupid because, if I am permitted to say without spoiling you- the drama (the story) is all about growing up, youth, adolescence in all its uncertainty, and finally finding their true identity.

I don't know why the network decided the name of the drama should be "Shut Up Flower Boy Band" though -_- I can understand the "Shut Up" part because that's a phrase the boys use as part of their pre-gig cheer. But the Flower Boy part...
I think the network is just fond of the phrase, since they also had a drama the previous year with the title "Flower Boy Ramyun Shop". Unless that's a popular Korean phrase that may have local references
hentaimangaka Boichi which did the short story compilation HOTEL and drew the series Raqiya (both are awesome). He's got excellent art style and can also write well.
