George is a lanky young man with bright blue eyes. His curly blond hair is most of the time stopped from falling into his eyes by some white bandages wrapped around his head. He has slightly reddened skin, like suffering from constant sunburn, a reminder of his heritage from outside the country of Seven. Sporting a determined look and an intense gaze, the rest of his Outfit is rather eccentric. George is basically wearing a firefighter uniform. A long, thick and heavy grey coat (most remarkable for the white X stitched on its backside) over a blue shirt, long, blue trousers with a lot of pockets and heavy, iron tipped boots complete his basic outfit. He is also always carrying heavy, fireproof gloves and darkened goggles around for “emergencies”, as he puts it.
Personality: George wants to become a hero like the ones in the stories and is trying his best to emulate the heroic code of behaviour. Most of the time he is courteous, nice, curageous and ready to help every person in need. Some people think that he is being too uptight and proselytizing and almost everyone thinks he is sticking his nose into things that shouldn’t concern him way too often, but George seems to be deaf to those complaints. One could say he is rather stubborn. An outspoken fellow willing to follow and defend his (slightly childish) beliefs and ideals no matter what, he is often criticizing people if they fall short of his expected behavior. While George can be sentimental and sometimes starts to get self-doubts, he usually allows himself this weakness only on special occasions.
His most driving and certainly darkest motivation is his revenge against the draconic being that destroyed his hometown. Becoming a hero is more a means to this end, because he is certain that only heroes or demons can fight a dragon. George likes fighting, training and going on missions, and has one of the most brutal training schedules in the guild. Though he had troubles relating to some people (not everyone appreciates his paladin-act), overall he is good at finding friends and certainly enjoys a measure of popularity in the Wild Hunt.
Background/History: George grew up in a small town in the harsh country of Iceberg, the mountainous and cold eastern neighbor of Seven. His father was an adept water elementary mage and a member of the small guild Cougar Fang. In his free time he was leading the voluntary firefighter-brigade of the town, making him a respected member of the community and a hero in the eyes of his son. His mother was mostly tending to their home, as was the custom in their country, but she was always there for her only child and excelled at storytelling. She told her son about great and small heroes, mages and knights, firefighters and detectives, princesses and dragons, nurturing in him a desire for adventure and glory. As far as George was concerned, he had a great childhood.
Until one day, when George was barely 9, a giant winged beast attacked the town for no known reason. It seemed to be a dragon, known only out of myths and legends, huge, fire-breathing and monstrously powerful. The mages of Cougar Fang fought it, and perished to a man delaying the beast, allowing their families and most of the citizens of their hometown to flee to the surrounding forests and icy mountain caves, too small for the beast. George’s father died organizing the final stand of Cougar Fang after the defeat of their Guild Master.
Their sacrifice wasn’t in vain. While the city and guild headquarters burned down, most of the refugees managed to make their getaway, George and his Mother Katarina included. The “dragon rampage” incident caused considerable uproar in the country of Iceberg and a huge investigation by the local magic council was launched, only to find out the beast had vanished into thin air, never to be seen again within country borders.
After the loss of her husband and hometown Katarina Weißhaupt grew increasingly restless, finally leaving the country altogether, resettling in Seven and starting a small business with what money she still had. It wasn’t much, but enough to offer herself and her son a home. George himself never really got over the incident with the dragon. As soon as possible he signed up in a local magic school, finding and embracing his talent for flame magic. His stated goal was and still is “to become strong enough to kill a dragon, like the heroes in the stories.”
When his talent blossomed, he left home and traveled abroad, doing magical odd jobs, helping people, finding friends and honing his power, but never joining a guild until he found the Wild Hunt. He states that all the other guilds weren’t up to his expectations, but in truth he stayed with the Wild Hunt because of its two Dragon Slayers.
Weapons (if any): George carries a small fire-axe around, partly for completing his outfit, partly for being able to fight an enemy too close for his spells, and partly “for emergencies”.
Other Equipment/Significant Personal Belongings: George possesses lots of firefighter uniforms, which grant him a bit of protection from heat and fire. His most important possession is a small, molten ball of iron that used to be a spoon in the past. He made a necklace out of it, since it is an important reminder of his burned down hometown.
Fighting Style:George’s White Flare is a very potent ranged attack magic, and ranged attacks are what he excels in. He fights with overwhelming firepower and sure aim, but has problems defending himself should the enemy get too close since he isn’t proficient in any martial arts style and doesn’t even know how to use the axe he carries efficiently. Its made even worse by George's aversion to moving away from his enemy. He isn't very fast and hates to be seen as running away, its just not heroic. This obvious weakness has made him crafty, aiming to use well thought out tactics and fire plans to keep the enemy at bay. He backs this up with a large amount of magical power and endurance for his level. George’s reflexes are not exactly bad, but nothing special compared to other mages. Physical strength isn’t an issue in his fighting style and is therefore rather average for a human, too.
Magic Profile
Magic Name: White Flare
Caster/Holder: Caster
Other types: White Flare is a specialized type of fire magic.
Details: Fire Magic is one of the most common types of magic and used throughout Earth Land. Naturally a lot of variations exist and every fire mage worth his name and guild sign uses his very own flamboyantly named fire style. George is no exception. He has refined his magical power to take the form of extremely hot, white-burning flames. This fire possesses considerable damage potential in exchange for safety in handling.
Usually fire mages can force their flames to change into a state that is very cool to the touch. This allows them to use their fire to propel themselves, wield it in their hands and keep it very close to their body. George eschews this utility in exchange for raw power. His fire always burns at about 1000 degrees, and he is not immune to its heat. Even getting too close to it for extended time may cause him severe hurt.
Comment: George uses his spells at a distance. Even with firefighter equipment it is hazardous to be too close to his flames for long. The safety margin is about one meter. Should someone wearing inflammable clothes come to close to White Flare’s fire, they may well light up!
The hottest, most powerful spells (Dawn Light and Holy Lance Ascalon) George can use stop being purely flame magic, and tap into the energies of light itself. It is unknown why this is the case and in fact it isn’t much of a help most of the time, though it gives them a certain edge against darkness type magic. Other than that White Flare is, as may be expected, weak against water and certain earth type magic, while having an advantage against plant and all except the most powerful ice type magic.
Spells (and their details):
Fire Bullet: George releases a large, bullet-like stream of fire towards the target. This technique is a simple and easy to learn fire type spell. Combined with the White Flare’s power this beginner’s spell packs a bit more punch. It still isn’t anything special, though.
Flash Burst: George summons a small ball of white flames that burns with the blinding intensity of a magnesium flare. Used to distract and blind enemies.
Gleaming Hail: George raises his palm, and a barrage of small white fireballs streams out of it, attacking a wide area. Each individual fireball is rather weak.
Searing Shield: A white-hot barrier of solid flames is erected by George. It is capable of defending against many ranged attacks, though it is used best as a counter against melee fighters since its burning heat makes it hard to approach.
Bright Sword: A huge sword made out of white fire is shot at the enemy. A powerful but slow spell that’s easy to evade from a distance.
Crusader’s Crossing: George’s Signature spell. Using both hands he fires a big X made of bright flames at the enemy. Uses a lot of magic power, but does huge amounts of damage if it hits.
Dawn Light: An attack that needs a certain amount of preparation. George draws a magic circle for a few seconds. This circle then unleashes a large, laser-like beam of white flames. It is a very powerful and hard to evade spell, though it can be disrupted by attacking George while he is drawing the necessary magic circle.
Holy Lance Ascalon: A giant, gleaming lance of the brightest fire George can muster. He uses up every ounce of magic power he has casting this spell. The more power he has when using this spell, the bigger and more powerful the lance. It is shot at the enemy with high speed and is extremely powerful. This spell has been named after the legendary dragon-slaying lance Ascalon. It is unknown if the spell possesses the power to harm an actual dragon.
