Anyway, a minor plot involving a really weak and humiliated character that comes back again to get a revenge could be a literary line that fits One Piece general plot (and the importance of will in this manga). That is why I like Syphin theory. (Not that I am waiting for Sarkies to fight Luffy).

This is true. I've always wondered if we would hear of the Bellamy pirates again ever since the Jaya Arc because frankly it was one of my favorite arcs. Until Luffy defeats Doflamingo for good, their reemergence will always be a posibility just because how Oda likes to link stuff from hundreds of chapters ago to tie up loose ends.

It would be like an Iron Mas Duval moment though if it turns out that it was showing:

- silhouette of possible Shiryu, crocodile, kaidou pirates (or whoever it turns out to be)
- silhouette of Kidd pirates (supernova from the worst generation)
- silhouette of Big Mom pirates
- silhouette of Sarkies (a possible pushover?)

it'd be so anticlimactic but hilarious at the same time.

They don't have to have the same destiny or the same role in the arc. A good test for a past and already defeated character, to come back again to some One Piece present or future arc, would be: has your wish the required power? And sure, to want a revenge is also a wish.

Regardless of whether it's the silhouette of Sarkies or not - a Bellamy pirate's comeback seems to be possible, even if I can't imagine Sarkies as a serious villian. - But the analogy to the Duval-appearance has another point: He became a supporting fellow, what maybe Sarkies will do as well. Fighting the strawhats crying because of his weakness and hatred he could turn into a tragic person that provokes Luffy's benevolence. Sarkies could become a crucial key in a possible fight against DoFla.

Thank you to everyone who enjoyed my theory, it was quite amusing when the thought of Sarkies possibly being that long-haired shadowed character crossed my mind, but when I started thinking about why it could be him, it became quite shocking that it was a possibility.

Now I can understand people's lack of support for Sarkies being in the New World, because I too have my doubts, but I just can't shake off the possibility that it could be him. And honestly, I just can't read Oda-sensei well, no matter how many times I tried to predict what he would end up doing over the four and a half years which I have been following One Piece I just can't see plot twists and developments happen before they do (I can foresee fragments of it, but on the level which Oda-sensei does things, I can't foresee that). Theories which I do come up with end up being shattered by even more ridiculous and glorious developments which pulls me even more into the One Piece world. So I learned not to discount anything and prepare myself for developments that delve into the realms of craziness and creativeness quite deeply.

Sarkies may not have possessed much strength when we last seen him, but desparate characters really are dangerous - as seen when Luffy thought Ace was going to die and unleashed his dorment Haoshoku Haki during the Marineford War Arc. Well, comparing a minor character to the main character of the story really doesn't amount to much but the possibility that Sarkies utilised methods other then training to gain power due to his desperateness is still a possibility. Sarkies for example could have eaten a Devil Fruit, or another theory of mine which is a massive stretch is Sarkies being modified by the Marines from the research laid down by Vegapunk.

Now it sounds absurd, but who knows with Akainu running things, it could be possible that pirates were captured and experimented on to further the research Vegapunk started - cyborgs and such. We've already seen Akainu isn't one to not exploit the insecurities of pirates if it means they can be used to kill other pirates (and who knows if Akainu even beat Aokiji fairly?).

Just like the Marines are able to tap into Den Den Mushi's of other ships (pirates) via a Black Den Den Mushi, a branch of the Marines could have tapped into the broadcast of Caesar Clown's, obviously some branch unrelated to G-5.

Anyway, I think I am assuming too much from just ONE panel, and I should stop and just wait to see how things unfold, because as much as I like being right, I enjoy being wrong as well, ah that shock and awe feeling which comes with it...

It would be unrealistic for sure. But Sarkies could be there not to fight Luffy, but to get a revenge. In that case to fight DoFlamingo.

LOL. this reminds me of law's appearance as a shichibukai. in this forum there were so many people who said "after the war,the WG really needed someone hella strong in the shichibukai", yet,law is garbage compared to doflamingo(that's the reason why he told luffy he can't harm CC,and that's what vergo and law stated as well). so in the end the new shichibukai aren't stronger than the previous ones (think about baggy ). thus,law can't keep up with doflamingo and people here expect sarkyes to be able to do that? mpf

Well, then you dont have the will of D, matti; but you have what I would call a frozen view of the characters, meaning that for you they have to remain the same during all the time. But the point is: can you prove that Sparkies won't be able to keep up with dofla? If you don't, understand that it is simply a theory about a possible development of a fictional story.

Now, consider that it would be possible also that Sparkies, wanting a revenge, plays some kind of role, crucial for the arc, but not a rol of a powerful character (Remember Gollum from Lord of the rings?). Use your imagination... because in fictional stories



And please nobody ask me to be realistic. If I would have to be realistic here (I have to, in my life), then I wouldn't read manga.

I believe the above bolded comment applies to almost all One Piece fans and is what really makes One Piece (one of) the best manga/anime in our eyes. At least it's exactly what keeps me on the edge always waiting for the next chapter and episode to come out. It's great when a theory that seems impossible actually comes true; and satisfying even for the one who came up with the theory when Oda outdoes the theory and comes up with something crazier.

This is also a distinct possibility. The best example is Alvida. She wasn't much of a challenge for Luffy when she was introduced; but in her second appearance she and Buggy almost had Luffy's adventure end at Gol D. Roger's execution platform.

Anyway, I think I am assuming too much from just ONE panel, and I should stop and just wait to see how things unfold, because as much as I like being right, I enjoy being wrong as well, ah that shock and awe feeling which comes with it...

I probably don't need to say this, but you should never let criticism stop you from theorizing. New theories are what keep discussions lively and entertaining.

That topic again. Why would he be in the shadow, why is the outfit different from the time-skip picture, why is the chin so different, why make a female looking character male?

Nope, it's not Hawkins. And damn I hope it's not Sarkies. Sure, he could have come to NW during 2 year time skip, and yeah, he is kinda under protection of Doflamingo. But who on Earth would like to see that piece of shit again? And I don't care how much stronger he got, he will never come close to someone who could pose a threat to Luffy.

Hawkins could have changed his katana, but his nose is not as curved as in that silhouette. We've seen on that Supernova pic that his nose at least stayed the same after 2 years. And don't give me some crap about how nose is not important. Oda takes care of the design of his characters. I also don't see what would be the point of masking the dude in the shadow if it was indeed Hawkins. There was no mistaking Kid, was there?

I highly doubt that it is Sarkies. My first thought was Basil Hawkins. The hair matches and it looks like he is holding a card.
