There was no need for heroics to save his spirit, using magic and whatnot, for that. >.> She just felt the need for drama, since clearly she thought that was the closest to action she could get- not having experienced SAO or anything. Honestly, ALO just pales in comparison to the experiences felt in SAO- she could never truly grasp the depth of what Kirito and Asuna felt there (in a non-romantic, but survival kinda way).

There is a death penalty upon dying which could lead to loss of items/exp etc. Also when you die, you don't respawn in the same place, you respawn in your home town/ save point or whatever, and who knows how long that would take to get back there.

Finally a good episode. The Sugu"arc" is over.

Huh basing on Sugu's statement in this last episode, it seems that the degree of death penalty actually depends on how you die. So without knowing the rules behind it, it's now impossible to make safe assumptions.

The way Kirito died he should have gotten a month ban from the game *cough*

Anyway, lots of internal/emotional development in the beginning of this episode - then came the duel out of nowhere with a rather monotonous battledrum the music fit quite well though. The conclusion was accordingly, but a beautiful picture of reconsiliation and the start of - finally - teamwork for raiding the world tree, even if it's "just" three of them. Anyway, the battle music was great, though Kirito was hack'n'slashing just as planles as before, despite Yui's words and the teamwork was quite nonexistant as well - guess there was no time to properly prepare a strategy and/or tactics? It got better though with Recon manning up, using dark magic despite meaning no breakthrough for Kirito... and then just in time, the alliance come to fulfill their promise to raid the tree together. So beautiful.

Oh btw, did anyone else miss the archers this time?

I did. Compensated with more numbers of enemies to take on, yep yep.

What to say about episode 23... I don't say I dislike it, nope. I think it's one of the best episodes of ALO. I'm at least excited to see things finally moving on. Kirito is a step closer to Asuna, hurray. I guess I wasn't so satisfied with the resolution between Kirito and Sugu, as if it was too easy, but guess I couldn't ask for more. I thought the combination of Sylph and Cait Sith was made to raid the tree and actually go up, no? But then they just made ways for Kirito and then left.

Looking forward to great final fights in the last 2 episodes.

I don't know, I didn't really pay attention to the music background when we were still in SAO, but I listened more as we got to ALO and I loved most of them. So happy thanks to Kajiura-senseeiii~ <33

Usually the more boring the plot is, the more aware you are of everything else like, music.
