It would be cool of him to use magic but not his style he even said it to Sheirke, he only needs his sword. But Maybe a magic enchantment on his sword would be good but the witches could do that for him. The only thing that will have to change for Guts is 100% control over the berserker armor.
It has been said more than once that Guts has some special link with the elvenkind, and even with magic.
His mother was probably an heretic too, judging by the way she died, so another sobrenatural/fantasy link is not that far fetched.
Having said that, I have absolutely no idea how a human like him will be ever able to even scratch the Godhand.
I think she would of been burnt but then again they did say they use to nail heretics guts to a tree and make them walk around it.
this all looks like grifit's story, Guts is gathering new members ,his own hawks, he has a behelit too, is Guts gonna summon the god's hand and atack them?
Guys you all must be so younger than me...
I had my last teen-years reading this manga, Band of the Hawks arc in particular, and all my generation of otaku-like guys here in my country love it for his gothic, violent, dark, medieval and adult atmosphere. Guts, Griffith and all the Berserk stuff were AWESOME, something very different from whichever manga published before.
The years have gone, now I'm a 30s and this manga changed a lot, probably too much if actually I can read arguments about Guts as a magic user (what a blasphemy my god...) and elf island.
However this last chapter make me feel some of the feelings I had years ago, when I started reading Berserk, and so I like it a bit.
Let me explain: I still like Berserk and I still like this Fantasia Arc, but like and old geezer I feel a bit of nostalgia remembering the story of the Golden Age arc, and if in Japan someone choose to make a sort of anime remake of that arc, maybe I'm not alone.
Wake me up when september begins!
Plus we do not have as much gore as we had, though is it possible that Miura spend all of the gore stuff he can, I mean that is humanly possible to imagine?
Oh and nice Green Day reference.
It was a good small arc. I don't blame him for making it and neglecting the main plot. It was actually refreshing and gave me a nice new perspective of Guts. I love this manga to death.
So all we can think of is that Guts will be able to face Griffith without using magic himself, but with the help of his party and that will be just awesome =D
And, of course the armor is magic, but it's nothing like the magic that some other guys were suggesting.
Anything that makes him more like a demon is fine, but I don't want him to start using elements (Fire, Water, Air, etc), or anything like that...
He has many friends that can use those, so he doesn't it.
