Yu Yu Hakusho
Hunter x Hunter
Both are great but HxH is superior in literally every way. YYH sadly fell apart in the end, left a lot of loose ends, and sadly instead of focusing on the plot it was really just battle after battle after battle. It's still an amazing battle shonen though, but Hunter x Hunter is the greatest manga and work of art of all time (in my opinion) so it clearly wins.
Hunter x Hunter .. because the plot is better managed
In terms of quality HUNTER x HUNTER is waay better. I love YuYu Hakusho, its my second favorite series ( number 1 is HxH obviously )
But yeah, that's the truth. In my opinion the only area that YYH is superior than HxH is the four main's characterization. ( except Hiei ) LOL His character is pretty much " I'm badass, that's it " But its REALLY close, and HxH hasn't even ended yet so.... yeah. HxH is going to end up being better than Hakusho in every single way. Man... I heard Hakusho was suppose to be like HxH; more psychological and stuff but his editors said no because back in the 90s it was ALL about fights, fights, fights, fights. Imagine YYH done right..... that would be epic. Besides the Dark Tournament and the Chapter Black Saga, YYH would have been a mediocre series.
YYH is better in dub nostalgia but it was plain on fun. I can never say I loved any characters from Hxh's main than those of YYH. Even in chapter black the flair of yusuke even was remarkable. Maybe after some years go by I'll truly love hxh in that manner. In plot though hxh is ten times better. Seeing that it wouldn't be ended as abruptly either is good too. I can imagine if he choose to continue the story it would be something like how hxh is turning out. I hope one day he solves all missing subplots similar to that of shaman king (excluding the sequel with his yoh's son) in 3 maybe four volumes nothing more. Hxh is obviously going to win in this forum though lol.
Without YYH I would have never found Hxh so yay me.
Generic Mangas are always boring
Let's not go offtopic, please.
Yu Yu Hakusho, because It means alot to me. and It has aged so well over the years. Also the characters mean more to me, especially Yusuke and Kuwabara.
While I like Hunter X Hunter and think its awesome, Its going to take alot of convincing for me to pick it, over Yu Yu Hakusho (probably due to nostalgia).
Besides, I only following the 2011 anime, so there is alot more to go right now, and its one of my favorite anime recently.
Hunter x Hunter is a superior, more mature work than YYH in every possible way, across the board speaking. But man...the Sensui arc of YYH, especially the characters from that arc (Sensui, Itsuki, etc) still can't be topped by anything in HxH in my opinion. Villains from YYH are so great and larger than life...Toguro brothers, Sensui, Itsuki, Karasu, even the henchmen level ones are awesome (Kaname, the video game kid, the brainy Kurama's classmate with power of words, etc), it's where Togashi established a lot of his archetypes. I can't say baddies in HxH left as big an impression on me than YYH's. The only one came close from HxH was Hisoka (but in comparison YYH has a TON of 'Hisokas').
I always though Hisoka is like a descendent of Suzuki + Itsuki + Baka Prince.

Yu Yu Hakusho is just awesome. The only arcs I didn't like were the first one (too slow and boring) and the last one (too short and irrelevant, as well as good fights being skipped). The rest were good, loved the main characters. Great humor, good action, and it was pretty different.
Still Yu Yu Hakusho is great manga/anime but it is no match to Hunter x Hunter XD
Depends on what do you mean by "better". In terms of narrative and plot complexity, HxH wins. But in terms of fun reading and character larger-than-life impact, YYH wins. Despite HxH being in a fantastical setting, it strangely reflects real life consequences and real people's psychology so the characters are not that distinguished (since we see them everyday) when COMPARED to YYH characters who are mostly GAR.
IMO and all that jazz.
