I don't know how Togashi came up with such an intricate system of personality based on Nen type but it sure struck a blow on my soul ever since I learned of it.
It's like in real life it even applies. I would have to say that I consider myself a transformation type. You know, the aformentioned capricious and whimsical type. And i have always noticed that the people that i get along the most are the simpletons or the high strung ones (reinforcement and materialization). Well, mostly the simpletons but i love wisdom materialization users have. I am always drawn by the charismatic and straightforward ways of these so called people called reinforcement types and how they go about their lives. I for myself delve deep and like some other people are very bipolar. Sometimes i can be very quiet sitting in the corner and when i feel like it become overly manic. And i enjoy that notion about me.
This applies to other animes as well:
Naruto; Ginji from Getbackers (reinforcement)
That blonde guy from bleach (emmision)
Mido Ban, Sasuke (transformation type)
Light from deathnote (manipulation)
And i just came to watch dark knight rises and it gave me a feel that Bane was a reinforcement type and the Joker was a transformation type. I dont know if Batman is specialization or manipulation. Or in MMORPG words: Bane was a barbarian and Joker was an assassin.
Well, the point is. Am I alone in this? Please share your experiences with Nen.
Batman will be specialist, a loner but a lot of people loves to go with him, something with that effect...
I actually apply as you do the Nen System everywhere. I am even doing right now a magic system for D&D inspired in the complicated Nen system that I think it's most adaptable thing EVER.
And when I see ANY technique, I tend to think about it as Nen and how it could be developed.
Joker as a transformation type is brilliant. He makes his aura into the smiling gas. <3
I would totally play a D&D game based around a nen system. I'm currently playing a World of Darkness game with a character based heavily off of Killua.Quote:
I do the same thing when watching other anime, but I mostly did it with Yu Yu Hakusho given they're made by the same mangaka.
Honestly speaking u guys need to take a break
Actually, I'd say Naruto would be most likely be an emitter (the shadow clones, the rasengan variations, etc...) with some skill in Manipulation so as to be able to control his clones. Sasuke would most likely be a Transmutation type, seeing as he can change his "aura" into fire and lightning. People with unique Bloodline Limits would be specialists, Taijutsu experts like Gai and Lee would be enhancers, I guess summoning weapons would fall into Conjuration, and Genjutsu skills would probably fall into Manipulation.
I'm too lazy to do Bleach, but Ichigo is definitely is an emitter. Light's Death Note falls into Speciality, and Luffy's rubber abilities are definitely Transmutation.
Oh! Oh! I got one! Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, etc from DBZ are emitters.
Ichigo is emitter (Getsuga Tenshou)
Byakuya is a conjurer (Senbonzakura)
Rangiku is a conjurer? (haineko - conjures ash that can cut opponents)
Hitsugaya is a transmuter (Hyourinmaru - ice based ability that can freeze)
Gin is a manipulator
Aizen's a specialist
Ishida's an emitter?
Soi Fon would be a manipulator
Sado may be a reinforcement, not sure
Renji is a manipulator? Not sure on this one either
That's all I can think of for now.
Very nice observations guys
I noticed in the world of full metal alchemists, only transformation and conjurers can thrive. There is no room for other nen types.
Cap definety gave me a feel of conjurer like how Kurapika led people in the gunship episodes.
Hulk is definitely emission personality or reinforcement. Transformation to make his skin green and extra rubbery. Bruce banner falls into a different type.
Thors personality gives me an impression that he's reinforcement. His hammer though was instilled with transformation aura.
Iron man methinks is a manipulator.
Loki would be also a manipulator. Emission when creating images of himself also with the glow stick of destiny.
Inu Yasha is definitely reinforcement.
Darker than Black's main protagonist is definitely transformation both in power and personality.
Black lagoons Revy is emmision and Rock as conjuration. Very opposite to each other. Like how Leorio and Kuarpika is.
Hellsings Alucard is specialization. Seras is reinforcement.
Cowboy Bebop Spike is reinforcement. Faye is transformation.
Catwoman from Dark Knight im 100% sure transformation.
Samurai champloo's Mugen is emmision. Jin would be materialization like the way Kurapika has a stoic demeanor in spider arc.
I agree we're turning into psychos!
Probably. It's the best system out there, so...
And Hulk is Reinforcement before anything else. In the end isn't the same as Youpi?
