This here be a Bleach RPG, obviously; if you’re involved in the Fairy Tail or Hunter x Hunter RPGs here, or have read either of them, then you'll know the kind of thing I'm going for with this. If not, then no worries; it’s easy and will hopefully be a lot of fun!

The RPG will be set in Soul Society and all Player Characters will be Shinigami. However, it won’t quite be the Soul Society we all know. Instead, it will be set in alternate continuity where Ichigo, Aizen, Yamamoto and co. don’t exist. Apart from that, though, most things are the same. And yeah, I know this doesn’t make complete sense, since it’d mean Yamamoto would never have set up the Shinigami Academy, nor Urahara the R&D Department, but suspend your disbelief if you will. Doing it this way means we get to play in a familiar environment, but aren’t constrained by having to stick the manga’s continuity and characters.

The game mechanics will be, roughly, as follows:

-There'll be 3+ players, hopefully. There will be a player limit, however (not sure what exactly what that limit will be yet, probably around 5).
-I'll play GM; the players each post what their character does, thinks, says and/or feels (not in static sentences like "X goes to the well and drinks the water", but giving full descriptions, more as if it were a paragraph in a fan-fiction).
-After everyone's posted, or after they've been given a reasonable amount of time to post, I'll post a round-up.
-This round-up will include how the characters' actions resolve themselves, and how the NPCs (non-player characters) act.

For example, say one PC (player character) attacks an NPC, with the player describing the attack. In my round-up I'll describe how that NPC reacts (eg. they may dodge and counterattack, or they may be knocked to the ground etc.), other NPCs' reactions to the attack etc.

(I may also include scenes of characters that are away from the PCs, in order to increase tension or put some foreshadowing in. For example, I may include a scene of the villains plotting their dastardly deeds.)

This means that whether a PC's actions are successful depend on whether I deem it them realistic given the context of the story, the fight, and/or their given strengths and weaknesses. If a player disagrees with my decision they'll be allowed to debate the point with me, and in the case of an action failing, I will always explain my decision.

In general actions will usually succeed unless the action falls into the realms of god-modding; things that are deemed unrealistic won't succeed. Things like "X walked into the room and completely over-whelmed everyone in it with their huge Reiatsu before using the Bankai they had learned in one week" that are obviously beyond the strength of the character, will not succeed.

If one player repeatedly or continually tries to make their character much stronger than the rest, or continually tries to have them doing ludicrous things, then that player will be punished. I may ask them to leave, or something bad might happen to their character (at worse, death).

I've GMed RPGs like this before and I think that I'm competent and fair enough to judge this one fairly, though everyone's going to have to trust me on that one. :P At the end of the day, though, this RPG is more about having fun and creating a cool story together than it is about winning or being the strongest.

Here's where I sound like a douchebag.

1) No god-modding. This is pretty much a given. It includes controlling characters beyond your own character without permission (including NPCs) and performing over-powered or unrealistic actions. As I said before, repeat offenders will be punished. If I believe you've made an honest mistake then that's ok, but I'll point it out so that you're less likely to make it again. This is most likely to happen towards the start of the RPG, as there will be a learning curve for us all.
2) Be literate. The most important rule! This means using full and clear sentences when posting. Typos and mistakes in grammar, punctuation and spelling are fine provided it's clear what you're trying to say, but please do your best. Characters may be rejected if you don’t use any punctuation.
3) No one-line posts. This rule is somewhat fluid; often in RPGs of this kind the GM asks for a minimum amount of text per post (often one or two medium-length paragraphs). However, having played them myself I realise that it sometimes makes no sense to post two paragraphs at a time, for example when having a conversation with another character, or when in the middle of a fight; in these circumstances you are often only performing one action that takes up only a few seconds of in-game time, and it can be needless to post huge amounts of text explaining the characters exact thoughts just for the sake of a word count. Therefore, while there is no minimum amount of text per post, I'll only ask that you don't make posts that add nothing. Any post should include either the character's thoughts (which flesh out personality) or an action (which affects plot). Posts like "Jimmy-Jimmy stood there and waited," add nothing. Posts which explain why Jimmy-Jimmy stood there instead of taking action add something.
4) All characters must be approved by the GM.
5) I reserve the right to alter these rules (ie. if I've forgotten any).
6) I reserve the right to refuse character applications (see character sheet for further details).

Characters

Rules for Characters
-One character each for now please (I may allow more than one at some point).
-Only use original characters (Ichigo, Kyouraku and co. will not be appearing in this RPG).
-Your character must be a Shinigami in the Gotei 13.
-Your character can be of any rank, but I recommend you don’t make a character fresh out of the academy; they’d be significantly weaker than all the others. Your character can be a Captain (if you wish them to be, then mention so in their biography). However, I will only be accepting a certain number of characters as Captains, on a first-come, first-serve basis.
-Your character may not be Captain of the 1st Division.
-Read the Gotei 13 section of this thread before making a character. It has details on the different duties of the Divisions. It also has some details on their (tentative) Captains. However, if you wish your character to be a Captain, that’s fine; your character will replace the Captain currently listed in that section.
-Relative character strength in Bleach varies greatly and is also very subjective, especially amongst the Captains, so I won’t try and be too specific on rules about how strong your character may be. I’ll just say that if your character is a Captain, they can only be on the low to mid end of the power scale.

Zanpakutou

Rules for Zanpakutou:
-List all the Zanpakutou’s abilities or attacks; once a character has been accepted, if you want them to learn/create new attacks, then ask in this, the OOC thread, and I'll accept them. Then add those new attacks to the character's profile.
-Your character’s Zanpakutou cannot be identical to (or rip-offs of) those of canon characters.
-Nothing over-powered, broken or hax. I know that's as much a matter of opinion as anything, but as GM I have the final say. Don’t even try to apply with a Zanpakutou as strong as Kyoka Suigetsu. :P
-If your character is not a Captain, they cannot have Bankai. Don’t worry, though; there’ll be chances for your character to achieve it at a later date.

Gotei 13
Here are details of the Captains of the Thirteen Court Guard Companies. Unless states otherwise, the duties of the Divisions are the same as of those in the canon material.

1st Division – Truth and Innocence
Captain: Masame Chiyoko
Captain Masame is the Captain-Commander of the entire Gotei 13; she is a spry old lady who constantly denies her increasing age. The oldest and most powerful Captain, she is highly respected amongst all Shinigami.

2nd Division – Seek Nothing
The 2nd Division is closely tied with the Onmitsukido, just as in canon.
Captain: Mitsuru Jun
The Captain of the 2nd Division is also the Commander of the Onmitsukido. He is a mysterious figure with bandages covering his entire head. He speaks little, but is undoubtedly efficient in his methods.

3rd Division – Despair
Captain: Yoshikazu Yori
The 3rd Captain is an intensely creepy man, resembling a white-faced clown with a twisted sense of humour. His methods may be brutal, but their efficacy is undeniable.

4th Division – Those Who Grieve Are Loved
As in canon, the 4th Division are the medical and supply Division.
Captain: Atsuko Miyako
Captain Atsuko is a no-nonsense, matronly woman. She is caring, though sometimes gruff, and refuses to put up with slovenliness and complaining amongst either her subordinates or her patients.

5th Division – Sacrifice, Danger, Pure Love, Humility, Sweetness
The 5th Division is also the Kido Corps.; Shinigami with exceptional skill in the demon arts and Kido-type Zanpakutou are placed here.
Captain: Oshiro Hana
Oshiro is deeply proud of her division’s role as Kido specialists, and she and the Captain of 11th Division have been rivals since their days in the Academy together.

6th Division – Noble Truth
Captain: Himekasa Mariko
Captain Himekasa is the head of one of the four Noble Houses. Despite her duties as such (which she sometimes shirks), she has a laid-back personality. She never shirks her duties as Captain, however.

7th Division – Honour
Captain: Wakahisa Hajime
Wakahisa is a large, round man, always jovial and boisterous. Some people find him annoying, while more generous-minded people like his jolliness. He is one of the most experienced Captains in the Gotei 13.

8th Division – Everything is Obtained
Captain: Tsukuda Junichi
An excellent teacher, Tsukuda believes in the balanced education of Shinigami in all four types of combat. He is romantically linked with the Captain of 6th Division. Also runs the Shinigami music society.

9th Division – Oblivion
The 9th Division has two specialist roles. The first is editing the Seireitei Communication magazine and the second is security within the Seireitei.
Captain: Minami Kuroshi
Minami’s turn of phrase can be somewhat colourful but he is nevertheless a highly skilled detective and fighter. He is very professional about his security duties, but utterly ignores his role as editor of the Seiretei Communication. Loves a cigar.

10th Division – Mystery, Egoism
Captain: Haruki Junko
The cross-dressing Captain of the 10th Division thinks of himself as embodying the company motto of “Mystery, Egoism”. Despite his flamboyance, he is exceptionally talented. NOTE: I had this guy’s Bankai already thought out, but I’ve had to change it after reading this week’s chapter because it was almost identical to that of Sasakibe!

11th Division – Fight
This division specialises in direct combat and as such, most of its members forgo the other areas of combat, especially Kido. There is also an unwritten rule that its members must have Melee-type Zanpakutou.
Captain: Kirara Kenpachi
The rough-and-tumble female Captain is unrefined and rowdy; her rivalry with the 5th Captain is second only to her passion for single combat.

12th Division – Vengeance, Strictness, Independence
The 12th Division runs the Research and Development Department.
Captain: Kuroshiro Hiriashi
Captain Kuroshiro is about the smartest person In Soul Society, responsible for countless inventions and has nerves of steel. He cares about those working beneath him and can be absolutely ruthless in defending them if need be. Another of the longest-serving Captains in Soul Society.

13th Division – Hope
The position of 13th Captain is currently vacant (unless any player wishes to fill it with their character).

Appearance: Tomoki is a dark man, slim yet toned man, reasonably good-looking with thick dark hair and chiselled features. He has large hazel-coloured eyes and long eyelashes. Due to the shape of his thick eyebrows, his neutral face looks more like a frown. When he remembers to, however, his face can show itself to either be innocent and disarming, or, occasionally, stern and intimidating.
He dresses in the standard Shinigami shihakushou with his Zanpakutou at his waist, though he wears his belt somewhat longer than most. He wears When using a gigai in the Human World, he wears an old-school green tracksuit with blue trim.
Personality: Tomoki is a nice guy generally and polite, though somewhat reserved; he gets one well with people, but makes few close friendships. Nevertheless, to those he does make friends with he is a good and loyal friend in return. His intelligence and quick-thinking show through from time to time; in battle his reserve disappears in the face of mortal danger. Tomoki tends to be very logical, not infrequently to the point of pedantry. From this logic (and, though he wouldn’t admit it, his upbringing) springs a strong ethical code that he refuses to break.
Background/History: Growing up in the twelfth district of Northern Rukongai, Tomoki lived fairly quietly; it was a decent area. He entered the Soul Reaper Academy so that he could earn extra money for his family, and to relieve him of his boredom. He showed early promise in all areas of combat, in particular Hoho and, encouraged by this, pushed himself to improve. He progressed steadily and was made a seated officer of the 7th Division upon leaving the Academy. When he was promoted, it was to 4th seat of the 8th Division. There, under the tutelage of Captain Tsukuda his all-round skills increased and he flourished. Just two months ago, at Tsukuda’s recommendation, he was promoted to Vice-Captain of the 6th Division.
Fighting Style: Tomoki is generally a passive fighter, using his excellent reflexes and agility and good defensive skills to avoid taking damage until his opponent shows an opening. Thanks to his Zanpakutou’s ability, the longer a fight goes on, the weaker his opponent gets, so this style of fighting suits him well. He inherited from Tsukuda Junichi, his previous Captain, an appreciation that proficiency in all areas of combat is important and as such, has cultivated a well-rounded skill set.

Release Command: Tobe (Jump); Tomiko sheathes his sword when releasing it; both the sheathe and the sword itself transform; he then redraws it.
Released Form: reddish-brown shirasaya katana
Effect(s): Upon release, the user must declare one of three different rules; those within the user’s Reiatsu (including the user) must follow that rule.
-The three rules each forbid one particular type of attack/technique.
-Every 60 seconds, anyone who has broken the rule is punished. Punishment is that the offender’s attacks/techniques of the type forbidden by the rule become weaker. The more times one has offended, the weaker their attacks/techniques of that type become.
-After punishment, the user must declare a new rule; the user cannot declare the same rule twice in a row.

The rules govern (ie. forbid and, if broken, weaken) the following techniques:
Mizaru (See no Evil): Hakuda attacks, hand-to-hand attacks or any other attacks that involve striking directly with any part of the body.
Kikazaru (Hear no Evil): Kido spells and Ceros.
Iwazaru (Speak no Evil): weapon-based attacks.

Appearance (description or picture): Kenichi is an dark skinned man, who looks like he is around his mid twenty´s. He has black hair that reach his shoulder´s, they are rather spikey though. An little bit like jiraiya from Naruto, long and spikey. He has brown eyes, and normally wears comfortable clothes. He mostly wears an white t-shirt mixed with an nice white jacked. And then an black, but comfortable pants. He has some good developed muscles, which are small, but hard like rock.
Personality: Kenichi is an optimistic guy, who always keeps his head up. He always has hope for things due his past. He likes making jokes, even though they are NOT ALWAYS funny. He is always seen smiling. He is an natural leader. He is also good in giving speeches, giving people their hope back. He can be an pervert sometimes, which he does not even deny. But he got major respect for women when he's not an pervert. He likes fighting better then normal training, because it trains all the muscles needed in an fight. So he spars more then he trains normally.
Background/History: Kenichi had an normal life, until he became six. He went to football practice, but an hollow was located there, killing all his teammates before him. Kenichi had given up all hope and was ready to die, until an shinigami saved him. He then lived life normally again, until another hollow came down, when he was 18. The hollow killed him, because the shinigami was one second to late. This gave him hope, and he never wanted to lose hope again. He joined the academy, and became an shinigigami. He immediately sstarted to train for bankai when he got his shikai, He quickly rised to the top, keeping the smile on his face.
Fighting Style: Kenichi is fast, and with fast, he really means fast. He is an specialist in Hoho, or Shunpo. He is an master.

Then there is type II A. Which combines both of them, it is explosive and fast, just an little less then II B. Has good stamina, just an little higher then Type I. What Kenichi did, was train the II A as hard as he could, transforming most of his Type I and some of his Type II b, to transform into Type II a. Which gives him all the advantages.

Bankai Effect(s): The dragon can't actually hurt someone. It can only transform into humans, and make Kenichi invisible for one post.

Name: Kawa Kyapyuretto
Age (appearance): 20
Gender: Male
Height: 179 cm
Weight: 172 lbs
Division: 11th division
Rank: 4th seat

Appearance: Kawa is medium built, has fiery red hair like flames (Hitsu's hairstyle but red-orange). He has black eyes and a tattoo of a seven pointed star on the back of his left hand. He wear a sleeveless version of the shinigami uniform.

Personality:Unlike the other energetic members of the 11th division, he's quite calm and collective. He's also very proud and arrogant, showed by his habit of rating the attack/techniques of his fellow shinigami or his opponent whenever battling. He has a soft spot for children and never engage in battle with women. He respect his superiors greatly, often pointing out there strength and advice his subordinate to learn from them. He often speaks complicated sentence structures and vocabulary to confuse his listener and make fun of them.

Background/History: Kawa was born in Soul Society in an aristocrat family. He was noted by the captain of the 11th division himself as having a notable amount of spiritual pressure. He attended the shinigami academy and quickly rise to the 4th seat rank.

Fighting Style: Like the rest of the members of the 11th division, he is very skilled in close combat. He can keep up with shunpo users without being one. He has considerable knowledge of kido, but he keep it as a secret because of the nature of the 11th division. He only apply kido in the direst of situations.

His swordsmanship style is a mixed form of hakuda and sword fighting (due to his zanpaktou), he's able to execute swift cut with his right hand and devastating punches with his left.

He has low resilient to injuries, instead of taking the attack head on, he often prefer parrying them with his left hand (see zanpaktou ability).

Zanpaktou
Name: Fosu Buringa (Froce bringer)
Type: Kido (kept as a secret to all of 11th division member)

Sub-Types: melee (mostly used as)

Sealed Form: standard katana with rectangular hilt.

Release Command: "energize"

Released Form: The katana become a sword with two edges and is hollow in the middle. On the left hand, a gauntlet appears. It has a seven pointed star engraved on it.

Ability: post release, Fosu Buringa can be used as a normal blade with the gauntlet to boost defense and strength of punches. Its special ability is to channel kido spells into the gauntlet, and then use that kido to enhance the blade by moving the gauntlet from the hilt to the tip of the blade. The gauntlet itself can also be enhanced with kido (making it like shunko), so there's a maximum of 2 kidos to be used at the same time (one for the blade, one for the gauntlet). The kido increase the attack power of the blade and the gauntlet (if its a hadou) or boost the defense (if its a bakudo). The power depends greatly on the user kido ability. Kawa can use kidos up to level 50s without chanting.

Appearance (description or picture):
Personality: Kaito is a very odd person. He presents himself awkwardly and does things without using common sense. His greetings often fall short of his expectations but he carries on in life as if it was a huge wonderland. At times, Kaito has one of his uncommon dark moments.
Background/History: In the human world, Kaito was raised in a violent household. His mom and dad consistently fought and his sister was on drugs and was always in and out of rehab. On his way home from the arcade, he turned onto a dark alley where a hollow was already feasting on a dead corpse. Being the person he is, Kaito inquisitively approached the hollow and was stabbed through the stomach. He then carried on life in the 29th division of Rukongai where he was known as the weird kid. Hoping to cure his boredom one day, Kaito entered the Academy and was recognized as having incredible potential. Graduating from the academy with flying colors, he was assigned to the 4th seat in the 3rd division where he now resides as Vice Captain.
Fighting Style: Kaito depends mostly on his shikai which means his swordmanship skills haven’t been up to par lately. Even though he is considered an excellent shunpo user, he prefers to keep his ability on the down low. In battle, whatever mood he is in determines how he uses tactics to fight.

Sealed Form:
Release Command: “ The sky is the limit”
Released Form: Kazemaru dissolves into the air.
Effect(s): Kaito can only control the air particles which his zanpaktou dissolved into. The farther he spreads them apart, the weaker his attacks get. The closer they get, the stronger the attacks.

Everything in your history is fine too, apart from the reference to how long it took him to get Shikai/Bankai. As I said, how long it takes Shinigami to age/rise up the rank/train etc. is vague, so we'll be vague too. So just take out the bit about it taking him 11 years.

Fighting Style's good too, and so's your Shikai. As I said in the first post, however, I'm not accepting Bankai from characters below Captain (though you'll be allowed to learn it later). So either change your rank to Captain, or take out the Bankai.

Note: Not that it matters much, but since the Bankai is ability-based, that would make it a Kido-type, not Melee-type.

Appearance: Kawa is medium built, has fiery red hair like flames (Hitsu's hairstyle but red-orange). He has black eyes and a tattoo of a seven pointed star on the back of his left hand. He wear a sleeveless version of the shinigami uniform.

Personality:Unlike the other energetic members of the 11th division, he's quite calm and collective. He's also very proud and arrogant, showed by his habit of rating the attack/techniques of his fellow shinigami or his opponent whenever battling. He has a soft spot for children and never engage in battle with women. He respect his superiors greatly, often pointing out there strength and advice his subordinate to learn from them. He often speaks complicated sentence structures and vocabulary to confuse his listener and make fun of them.

Background/History: Kawa was born in Soul Society in an aristocrat family. He was noted by the captain of the 11th division himself as having a notable amount of spiritual pressure. He attended the shinigami academy and quickly rise to the 4th seat rank.

Fighting Style: Like the rest of the members of the 11th division, he is very skilled in close combat. He can keep up with shunpo users without being one. He has considerable knowledge of kido, but he keep it as a secret because of the nature of the 11th division. He only apply kido in the direst of situations.

His swordsmanship style is a mixed form of hakuda and sword fighting (due to his zanpaktou), he's able to execute swift cut with his right hand and devastating punches with his left.

He has low resilient to injuries, instead of taking the attack head on, he often prefer parrying them with his left hand (see zanpaktou ability).

Name: Fosu Buringa (Froce bringer)
Type: Kido (kept as a secret to all of 11th division member)

Sub-Types: melee (mostly used as)

Sealed Form: standard katana with rectangular hilt.

Release Command: "energize"

Released Form: The katana become a sword with two edges and is hollow in the middle. On the left hand, a gauntlet appears. It has a seven pointed star engraved on it.

Ability: post release, Fosu Buringa can be used as a normal blade with the gauntlet to boost defense and strength of punches. Its special ability is to channel kido spells into the gauntlet, and then use that kido to enhance the blade by moving the gauntlet from the hilt to the tip of the blade. The gauntlet itself can also be enhanced with kido (making it like shunko), so there's a maximum of 2 kidos to be used at the same time (one for the blade, one for the gauntlet). The kido increase the attack power of the blade and the gauntlet (if its a hadou) or boost the defense (if its a bakudo). The power depends greatly on the user kido ability. Kawa can use kidos up to level 50s without chanting.

I'm not sure I understand how to play the game, I'll try to participate as it'll at least help me to improve my English.

1) What do you mean by "He can keep up with shunpo users without being one"? Does he know shunpo or not?

2) When chanelling Kido spells through Force Bringer, does the standard effect of the spell still activate? Or would it simply be that the stronger the Kido you activate, the greater the boost to attack/defence?

If i use danku, the defense power would be boosted by the same ammount. Only attack and defense spells can be used to enhance. Battle support spells like binding spells or healing spells can't be used.
